Our manager between the year 2000 and 2002, and doesn't often get mentioned these days. An eventful couple of years resulting in relegation and a play-off defeat.
I'm speaking to Lou in the near future, so does anyone have any memories of his time here? Or anything they want to ask him?

I really liked him. Football a little dowdy at times, but we were doomed to relegation when he took over and I thought he did well the following season with the club in absolute turmoil. Very surprised to find that we were the last club he managed, 21 years ago. Replacing him with Wadsworth (the name makes me shudder) was a colossal error.

Great for Stoke. Still lives local and runs a shelter for the homeless Can’t believe he’s been overlooked again in the honours list
His grandson playing now for Notts County

A wonderful man. Sacking him to replace him with Wadsworth was ridiculous. Playoffs to relegated in 12 months.
The club was a car crash at that time, luckily Leon Knight wasn’t totally crazy yet and scored plenty for us.
He must have felt hard done by and realised enough was enough. Please ask him if, having been so harshly treated by a club in a spiral of decline, did he decide the game was no longer for him? Did he make a conscious decision not to manage again or could he just not find a suitable role?

Came across as a really nice guy on Under The Cosh. Despite having no tales to tell of ribald nights out or bullying young players, they seemed to take to him and what he is now doing.
He must have some principles too, as I seem to remember that he was Bruce's assistant, and once SB had left, would not take the job unless Bruce gave his blessing.

A fantastic guy treat like shit by our hierarchy. Got sacked by a text message after continually funding the club by personally paying for hotels/travel for the players. What he’s doing these days for the homeless in incredible. Wonder what good the hierarchy who sacked him by text are doing for the Country right now?

Not really fair on the kid, as even if they're good enough there's bound to be accusations of nepotism. Think even Frank Lampard Jr had questions over his ability at West Ham until he was able to prove himself. Not convinced that either Paul Macari or Alex Bruce would've managed to sign pro terms anywhere without their famous dads.

Deserves an honour, but I won’t derail this thread on that topic as it’s already on another sub-board.

Same as the Brian Horton one, 37 seconds of Town "discussion" before he was swiftly moved on by that annoying c*** who hosts it. There have been some good podcasts from Undr The Cosh, but it constantly annoys me how whenever an ex Town player or manager is on such a thing, their involvement at Town is barely ever mentioned.

The lad who isn’t an ex-player is a wee bit annoying but Brown and Parkin can be entertaining at times. Only gripe is the level of swearing as some episodes it’s effing this and that. Mind you, ex-footballers, heading the hall, brain cells damaged, etc. 🫢 Question for Macari would be what does he think he could have achieved with Town, had the financial side been more stable? He had the pedigree of success, so who knows?

Chris Brown (the player) is alright though and actually quite knowledgeable regarding football history.

Head tennis when our best player was 5' tall 🤔 He was very harshly treated by Town, but the football we played under him was generally dire. Not all of it, but a fair proportion of it. Lots of punts forward, despite our best player being so short.

Does no research, shows little intellect, has no interest in football, just likes to try to sound like 'a lad' (which seems to mean somebody who thinks drinking alcohol is a substitute for a personality). He just slows every conversation down.

The season we reached the play offs under Macari was like the Carlos play off season, absolutely drab to watch but under difficult circumstances for both, probably more so for Macari so he gets a 'he did OK for Town' from me.

Given what happened to one of his other sons, one might argue that nepotism was the right thing to do. I can’t believe I didn’t know about that. So sad So perhaps it literally was nepotism. I have no doubt that was what motivated his signing. Paul Macari was crap, but I wouldn't wish what Lou went through with Jonathan on my worst enemy.
