He's got all the attributes we need. He has bags of ability. He had a big injury last year, and has come here at a time of turmoil. He's been played in various systems, various roles and in an unsettled side. And he picked up another injury. We need to learn not to write players off in a handful of games. Some players take a season to adapt - look at Rudoni. Look at Hogg! He was awful in the first half of his first season. Added nothing... ten years later... If you look back at the clips from his announcement video(and I have because I’m that sad) he looks at least a half yard quicker and sharper.I’d be amazed on seeing him for us if he isn’t still carrying something or for whatever reason he just can’t get back fully fit. Like iv said he looks to do bits that others don’t in our midfield, such as little one twos in and around the box and balls round the corner and then play off it.it just doesn’t seem to be coming off. His first thought is always to play it quickly, and positively. I like that.

It should..there again Mbete was regularly on Man Citys bench!! Really?! I appreciate it doesn't guarantee anything but 5 mins on Google and Twitter seem to suggest he is university rated so I'm going to remain positive! Seems he's been converted to a CM too so even better if he can help sort out the midfield and play RW. It's a good start to the January window I think. Not sure about this… but I think he probably has good polytechnique!

Why do we need to replace Wiles? Because he's crap 🤷🏻♂️ Diarra is more crap than Wiles , Wiles prob just needs a full preseason to get fully fit he was a good solid championship player at Rotherham

Regularly found on Chelsea's bench, which is encouraging.
On the other hand, I seem to recall Luke Mbete being very highly rated too, so who knows?

When we see him holding the Town shirt, I will change the title to include confirmed and move the thread into TOTT.

Despite all the turmoil over recent years we do seem to have developed a good relationship with Chelsea. Colwill and Challobah being examples. But if this does come off we need to remember they will have a lot of control over game time and could well be frustrated if/when he can play. Still as far as I’m concerned bring it on.

Out of interest what is Moore’s track record working with u21 - youth players on loan?
He’s been happy to put same age players of our on the bench but not bring them on or use older players sparingly - but the younger of those have been there to make up the numbers*, obviously l expecting he’s a few levels above those players & therefore we will use him!
(*Aside Diarra who showed progress under Warnock but gone backwards under Moore)

I'd forgotten about Mbete - he was truly awful wasnt he?! We have been a bit spoilt with the Chelsea lads - Palmer, Brown and Colwill all excellent and even Tino was decent when he was fit! Just hope Matos can replicate the above 3..............god knows we need some cheer in 2024 cos its been a tough watch this season to date. That said, if the Radulovic, Matos rumours are realised then it will hopefully silence a few who seem to blame KN for the current position.........................he may have been a tad naive at times, but the state of the current squad rests firmly with the prior ownership. KN only been here just over 6m i believe - the malaise since relegation from the prem has been going on nearly 5 yrs now.

And yes, some might say Edwards is worse but I disagree. His individual performance vs the Chesties was appalling but I have seen him put in 5 or 6/10 performances too. Mbete was IMO never better than a 3/10. Only thing in his favour was he was young enough to improve significantly (and if he wants a career in professional football - at any level - he'd need to be better than what we saw!). As for the new regime, I honestly think they've been judged harshly so far. Yes, last summer's transfer dealings were poor, but there are mitigating factors for that. Moore hasn't endeared himself to the fans yet, but results-wise he's probably not much different to what we could have expected under NW. And Chelsea? Widely regarded as one of the best - if not the best - youth system on the planet. Not a bad place to have a good relationship with.

Mbete is currently on loan in the Dutch 2nd division, I think it's fair to say he's not kicked on as Man City would have expected.

Didn't look good enough for the National League how he was when we had him. To be fair though, he's still only 20 years old now. Plenty of time for him to kick on.

But look, I didn't intend to hijack the thread for Scott High, who I am sure we all hope will go on to have a great career somewhere. This was really to show that players are lauded or abandoned for many reasons, but one just happens to be age...for some. Perhaps Jamie Vardy would have been a better example.

Of course he is being judged, he’s 23 and utter guff! He’s been found out at every club he’s been at and was lucky to play as many games at championship level than he did.

I definitely don’t agree about him having a shocking attitude at all. If you’ve ever played football at any level you could clearly see he is trying (probably too hard) to impress. IMO he’s come in as one of the star players from Rotherham for a fairly large fee and feels like he needs to justify it to his new clubs supporters. Unfortunately whether due to a previous injury, lack of form or confidence things just aren’t clicking right now. With every passing game, and occasionally being dropped he’s probably feeling that pressure more and more.

He hasn't had any time to recover from his injury and knocks. Playing through the pain barrier every week. I admire his attitude for putting his body through that when you have Danny Ward splitting finger nails and out for 3 months.
