Bellend is addressed quite neatly in this BBC America guide: The Brit List: 10 Stinging British InsultsLike most phallic insults, it's more commonly heard post-watershed due to the intent, rather than the word itself. As for your others: - Weapon: Obscure enough for all-day use. could be substituted with 'tool', 'spanner', 'chopper' etc. - Nonce: Most commonly employed by young males who have watched too many crime dramas / football hooligan films. But it will cause offense. - Botherer: I've only ever seen it deployed in the same, ultra-specific example you have. - Mickey: No idea about this one. In my experience, 'twat' has generally been the British expression my US colleagues have adopted with greatest relish (admittedly more to describe other 'co-workers' than as a direct address). Ah, thank you. Also what’s a “watershed” (assuming a pub?) I want to be respectful of moderation here and not swear, but twat is used plenty over here- however would CERTAINLY be considered a swear word. For me- swear word = word you couldn’t say on the radio. But apparently over there it isn’t. Got it. Generally the watershed is/was 9pm. That was the time that swearing could start on the TV programmes

A lot of this is quite offensive. It couldn’t be on TV before 21:00.

Got it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watershed_(broadcasting)Bellend and Twat can be used pretty much interchangeably - Both are swear words that could be used jocularly between friends, or to purposefully cause offense. It depends on context & tone. Neither should be used on the radio (or TV before 9pm).

Outstanding work dredging up box 18. A bit of DATM folklore, and a prime example of the hierarchy of British insults rolled into one

Someone needs to start a thread for 'must know words for American fans' Here's a few insulting terms we use- knob, prick, wanker, cockhead, dickhead, numpty, twat, fuckwit, moron, tit or tithead, spanner, Insults usually aimed at females (normally ugly or of questionable morals)are- skank, sket, minger, slag, slut, prossie,yo-yo knickers, the village bicycle. Going out drinking with friends is sometimes referred to as- on the sesh, a few jars,on one,on the piss or the lash or a bender.pissing it up,an allnighter. And if you happen to witness a fight at the match it's often called- a scrap, punch up,argie bargie, agro,an off,a scuffle,a set 2,a kick off or a full blown riot!. Tinpot.Everything you’ve written is useless, the only thing anyone from outside the border needs to know is. ITS A TEA CAKE. You're probably right, going by my contributions to this forum - but I'm not responsible for the bit you just quoted.

I am advising to stop the extreme swearing right now. Just saying What extreme swearing ? I think someone must have written the phrase "L**ds Un***d" without asterisks. If it were up to me I'd give a life ban for that.

This seasons shirt will have been sorted before his take over so next seasons will be the first Kevs responsible for. Then he'll truly know the meaning of fan abuse if it's a bad one! My advice..keep it as simple as you can..less squiggles , flashes and shaded bits the better..keep all that crap for the away kits if you must...oh and black socks obviously. Must admit I've always preferred white shorts and white socks. Totally with you on keeping the home short simple though.

Very grim faces on "And He Takes That Chance" with Kevin Nagle. Lots of tut-tutting. Was this for calling them L**ds? The post may have been taken down, but KN should have just called them Chesties. Yeah, apparently KN has written their team talk for them🤷🏼Love listening to the AHTTC pod but just thought their view on this was way OTT!! He didn't write it very well then, did he?

Ahhhh I’m compiling mannerisms and words as I go along to try and understand more. So far, but not limited to: Weapon Bell end Nonce Botherer Mickey So when someone says “absolutely ” that sounds to me like another saying I’d never heard of 😂😂 I can tell you a fun fact about the word "Nonce" - it's origin was at Wakefield prison and actually stands for "Not On Normal Courtyard Excercise". It was used to stamp prisoners who were more of a danger to other prisoners when they were out and staff would keep the Nonce ones in. I only found this out from watching something on Netflix last year 😂 It's somehow now got a different meaning, which is probably best left alone.
I've no idea as to the accuracy of the Netflix program but I always thought that the term 'Nonce' (which does stand for what you wrote above) was used to refer to child killers/sex offenders because they would usually be subject to 'Prison Rule 43', which keeps them segregated from the normal prison population for their own protection. Hence they would only go out on courtyard exercise on their own or with other 'Nonces'.

I realise the kit is a bit out of your remit, but if you could just pass on two little words, it would be greatly appreciated: black socks. Thanks, Fashionistafop Are we moving away from the current shirt providers next season? I'm sure I read it somewhere. He did say there would be new suppliers for next year, but I read it as in relation to the merchandise options rather than replica kit. Obviously, could be wrong. But we seem to have gone down a route with the thrice champions theme and having 1 star coloured for the 1st season. So I would have thought we'd keep on that theme. I thought Umbro were here for next season too. To be honest, I like what Umbro do with our kits, they are far, far, far superior to other companies. Puma are terrible for example.

Maybe Kev will be inspired by that thing Leeds wore on Saturday? Go for the vomit effect, only in stripe form? Like a baby projectile barfed on you through their cot side.
Umbro designs a probably the best IMO...tend to keep it simple and classy.

Glad Dave and Kev enjoyed giving it the big one to Leeds fans on twitter, because they are going to look really stupid if there’s two leagues between us next season.
No this isn’t me having a go either after a loss, but unfortunately sport has a nasty way of biting you in the arse if you aren’t humble. A bit like life.

Whilst baiting on SM is not my thing, when should they have done it? Is tribalism banned now? If it does end up as us being separated by one whole division next season, then c’est la vie… It’s all part of the game for me, after the event baiting is a bit limp TBH…

Nobody, from what I saw CD was merely responding to Leeds fans (who don't care about us) who had given it first. Reading way too much into it.
