Shit pots at half time had a right queue, i dont believe they were all busting for a crap. Back in “my day” there’d be a queue for the urinals, these days they’re all queuing for a stall.

Not a popular opinion but for me, someone who goes to games with my young son or elderly dad, I do think the key lies in forcing people to sit in their allocated seat. It will stop excessively sized groups of kids amassing and generally stop confrontations of people not being able to access their seat. It would not stop people singing so I don't buy it would impact atmosphere. I must admit I always go to my allocated seat and move people on if their in it. If for whatever reason I'm not early to the game, I'm not being ushered to a crap unoccupied seat near the front because someone else has taken mine. Issue is when someone wants to take their three kids but can’t sit together because everyone is sat where they want.

It wouldn’t just be the fans that popped their clogs, there’d be a fair few in director’s boxes across the country going too. And the majority of politicians. Yet another benefit

It's a social problem at the moment. There's a broad subset of society that thinks it can do what it wants and no consequences should apply to them, no matter the inconvenience to others. It's always been in society, but since returning to normal from lockdowns it has become more prevalent - sociologists will be having a field day at the moment, talking about the breakdown of social bonds in favour of the individual.
The question is what to do. The club can ban anyone found acting like that, and it's a start, but it doesn't tackle the problem, just the symptom, after which other people have already been affected. How do we, as a society, return to a situation where the disruptive minority is sidelined and cut off? There's the question.

Saw the thread title and came on expecting some sort of backlash over this.

Sniffer dogs and arrests for possession as suggested above would sort it out pretty quickly. I suspect the police don’t have the resources unfortunately

Was in the brown cow before the game, walked in and glanced at the game on TV. A young lad of about 18 stood in the middle of the TV, rubbing his nose with a jaw swinging like a ship’s lantern.
Should definitely be sniffer dogs at the turnstiles for away fans, with the queue yesterday one dog would’ve been enough to deter anyone carrying, although it would be too late by then.

Just ban anyone found to be in possession. Simple.

Feels a bit like they're policing after the fact rather than proactively.

Man city other week sniffer dogs were there, maybe its one thing that the prem clubs are doing thats for the good of the game and people who attend, dont know if its common at all prem grounds and tbh i've seen them at non prem grounds too.

Definitely got worse for that since lockdown. There's a massive problem but people just turn a blind eye, including the authorities. It's ridiculous, and there's no wonder there's so much violence now. Before lockdown, I barely ever saw Town fans wanting to fight each other but after lockdown, it's increased tenfold. I went to Rotherham last season on a bus, and it was full of kids. We stopped off at this pub just outside Rotherham and as most of them weren't old enough to drink, they were all just sat outside. Yet you couldn't move in the bogs as they were all snorting their faces off. It's a genuine problem that's just being ignored. My wee maw is a long retired ward sister and midwife from the local hospital on The Whisky Isle and often on her Back-Shift (2-10) the local police constable would call up for a ‘blether to pass the time’ as there was nothing else to do ! On one night they were discussing marrow anna and Donnie said to ma maw “Marat - There’s a wee group that take it here, but we turn a blind eye to them as they don’t give us a day’s trouble from one year to the next and it’s the drunks at the dances that are rioting and fighting every weekend that give us and the neighbors of the village hall’s all the grief” So the marrow anna was ‘approved’ in The West Island and by ‘L’ Division as well no less ! I don’t do narcotics and couldn’t anyway as smoking gives me breathing trouble as I’ve always had athsma but I had two girlfriends (at separate times) from Dumbarton who smoked the marrow anna all the time and they were fine and pleasant with it (though I could detect it from their breath at snogging times) 🤭 They also had another name for marrow anna in Dumbarton - They called it ‘Ganja’ ! I don’t know if there’s any difference between cocaine and marrow anna as I’ve only as far as I know had cocaine through a dentists needle, and it just made ma mouth feel numb so not sure what the great alleged hyper feeling and addiction that comes into the whole debate is about, but marrow anna seemed to be ok in the folks that I associated with that smoked it... Oh to hear “Am pure gaggin’ for another joint ah ra Ganja so ah pure am” once again from Laura and Leanne 😊 Happy memories of Dear old Dumbarton !!!

Didn’t encounter any trouble today but it’s got to the point at away games where you have to actively avoid it. Loads of dopey kids bouncing and throwing their beer around, having fun no doubt but at plenty others expense. Must be just getting old I had the same at Plymouth away trying to climb over everyone to goad Plymouth supporters. Most of them looked 10 pints in, could have stand up or talk properly

It's not for the club (or football for that matter) to fix the 'societal problem' - but it is for the club to ensure the majority of fans can go to games without having to avoid or deal with anti-social dick heads. Justasmithers - can you take all this back to Kevin so that Town, as a club, can lead the way on this issue. Primarily, swiftly ejecting offenders (with bans for repeat offences) and improving stewarding to give them a bit more oomph. Away days may be trickier but if there's a will there's a way.

The club know there's an issue, it's a nationwide issue, what is Carmichael going to be able to do about it FFS. There are liaison officers and senior stewards, talk to them not a radio host from Sacramento

I’d say it’s the latter. And regarding the kids. No, in fact most weren’t like that. In 35 years of watching town I don’t it recall being like this in such numbers.
