I remember a fan shouting racist abuse at him at Chelsea and getting a 2 year banning order.

Two questions - was there a degree of pressure in being an ex Man u youth player? And as one of very few ex-pro asian footballers why does he think there are so few?

On the cowboys 'young guns' poster, does he think he should have been dressed as an indian?

My main memory is of him getting sent off at Doncaster Rovers in the first game at their new stadium on NYD 2007. Town obliged by losing 3-0. Abbott also got sent off.
I seem to remember him being a fairly tidy midfielder, showed some promise but never really progressed and his career just meandered about down into non-league. He was fairly small but wasn’t afraid to get stuck in.

I seem to remember him scoring a good goal down at the Panasonic end in a victory towards the end of the 2004-05 season when we had that really good run and late charge for the playoffs.

Like a lot of Town midfielders, looked tidy but lightweight.
Didn’t he suffer a bad injury and was never the same afterwards.

I thought he looked a real prospect in his early appearances and surprised he didn't go on to have a decent career. Seem to remember an injury so maybe that did for him.
Maybe questions about how jacko and taff seemed to be able to get so much out of the young lads.

It would be interesting to hear of how he feels the game and opportunities for his nationality have developed?
Did he ever feel that his nationality was a barrier in any way for being a professional/opportunites to further careers etc.

Can he still feel that tackle/assault from Alex Bruce, when he finally exploded after the stick we'd given him ?

How was the dressing room and on pitch "banter", any parallels with Yorkshire cricket?

Adnan is still one of a very small number of British South Asian pro footballers, so I'd be really interested to hear his thoughts on what changes he's seen since playing for Town.
From going to games I'd guess South Asians are probably a bit underrepresented in the makeup of a crowd at the John Smiths, compared to demographics of the Town supporting areas in general. And definitely underrepresented in the playing side. It'd be great to hear his perspective on why that is, and what's changed during & since his career.
Also would be interested to hear about his experiences playing for Pakistan internationally, and his clubs in Hungary and Iran.

He is of Pakistani heritage and played 27 games for their national team. He remains the only player of Pakistani heritage to have played for Huddersfield Town.

He represented Pakistan on numerous occasions. Born in Burnley, but you know what I mean. I really hope that question was not hinting at 'stereotyping'? If it is a mix up of technical words, I apologise. But the questions I have offered are fair.

Ahmed played that day and I've never seen anyone look so lost on a football pitch. I don't think he even touched the ball once.

The first half was terrible, we showed them far too much respect until Danny Adams wiped out Shaun Wright-Phillips before half-time. After that, we gave a very good account of ourselves and deserved a replay. Jose Mourinho came and clapped the Town fans after that game, which was a class act.

I'd be surprised if we had 15% possession in the first half. It was Darren Moore levels of timidity, apart from the fact we were playing the current PL champions on their home ground rather than a bog standard club from the same league on our own patch 😁

Speaking to former Town player Adnan Ahmed in the near future, he played for Town between 2003 and 2007. Any memories of him? Anything you want to ask him? Did he ever have pressure from his parents to pursue a "proper career"? Every Asian lad I know who was good at football was told in no uncertain terms by parents that they HAD to go into medicine or law, there's no future in sports, etc. I think that's the main reason South Asian and SE Asian are so under-represented. Personally thought he was a tidy footballer, but didn't seem to have the physical presence for the midfield role he occupied.

If I remember rightly he was pretty good at dead ball situations.

Must be 20 years since he was playing and this was the reason that was brought up back then when the subject came up. Obviously cant have changed much since! Weird really as so many asian lads play football. The PL and EFL is about as diverse as anything there is in terms of different nationalities, religions and races, even more so now than it was back in Adnan's days. Yet you've got two hugely populated countries like India and Pakistan who have barely produced a player between them, despite also having such huge immigrant populations all around the world. It is odd.
