He's got a huge job building the academy back up.

Chicho for me.
Or Gerry Murphy.
Or Mark Lillis, he GETS the club.
Sooner we get the new man, the better.

He's got a huge job building the academy back up. I'm betting it's something he'd be willing to try and if it doesn't work out he could always go back to the academy. I was only suggesting it until the end of the season though.

No. But thanks for showing the lads where the onion bag is again though Jon. Massive turnaround.

No thanks. He's been a breath of fresh air and he's a brilliant asset to the club, but it's too big a risk. He's already got a job with us, and I'd much rather he uses his skills to bring through the next generation of young players than manage the senior team for a few months and then leave.
There was a lot of positives but so much naivety in his game management today (completely expectedly and forgivably for someone who's never managed a senior team before). We need someone who can motivate the players to a similar degree, but knows how to see games through.

Not the long term answer but given there is unlikely to be a change before Monday then we need to get behind him and the players.
We may still have significant quality gaps but the mindset has changed and that has given us a chance to survive.

The only scenario that would make sense would be if Pep Ljinders wanted the job from July and the board deemed him the outstanding candidate. In that case I'd be happy leaving Worthy in charge for a few months til the end of the season.
In reality, Ljinders probably wouldn't want this job and we've probably found a few that do....

If Ljnders did want the job it would show some significant intent, but I agree it is unlikely he does. Whatever it's a big week thus week.

All credit to Worthy for what he's done. I know it's only two games but you can certainly see his impact.
I think he's got a massive job with the Academy and he's the right man to get that back up to speed.
The permanent first-team manager needs to be decided upon ASAP so the new bloke can get working with the squad.

We could do worse than keeping him until the end of the season. We definitely could do better. Does he even have the qualification thats required?

Be interesting to see how many would prefer we kept Worthy instead of Duff if he was the choice.

The one thing he has done is give us something to get behind. I know it's been a frustrating season but we do need to put that to one side and try and build some momentum.
JW isn't the cause of our league position but he can contribute to improving it. That's all we can ask from where we are.

What a stupid thread! Like someone has said if we was to get pep Ljinders at the end of the season we could keep worthy ( but at a risk ) Otherwise no! Worthy doesn't want the job, he's got a job for life already and thats the job he wants to do as Nagle and Co have a big job with the new plans for the Academy he's just a stand in!

We could do worse than keeping him until the end of the season. 2.0 up, no game management, how many times do we concede just after half time. We've conceded 5, not good enough, never mind the 3 goals we lost. Can't continue conceding, 3 goals should win games.

Pep Lijnders, so apart from him being Liverpool's assistant manager, what do people actually know about him?

Really enjoyed today, Southampton are a premier league club in the waiting , their squad is worth probably 10 times ours and a wage bill to match , we took the game to them and few have tried to do that to them this year. We were unlucky today and nothing but admiration for the whole playing and coaching staff of HTFC today. If fans can’t appreciate that today then I feel very sorry for them . This is exactly what I can accept if we get relegated a team trying to win playing exciting football.
