I'm just sick of everything going up. If I can get out of it I won't pay it. Mortgage and council tax I can't avoid it. TV licence, I've cancelled that. Internet provider, I've left them and joined another. HTFC, if it goes up I won't pay it. And I doubt I'll miss it much either. As for £10 a week on coffee? Not in my lifetime! This is why Town need to be very careful about price increases. There’s people right through this thread saying “everything else has gone up so Town can/need to to put prices up”. Difference is you can’t cancel council tax, gas bills and food bills. You can cancel football costs.

From the looks of it the club are saying that they know the product isn't what it should be and intend to invest heavily in the playing squad and facilities. If we stay up this season and sign some belters in the summer this will keep sales at a decent level. Price increases must coincide with better squad investment because otherwise it doesn't make sense. We have been fed a line before. Last summer it was Warnock would be here for another season, then he wasn’t (which arguably is where many of our problems originated from) and we spent virtually nothing because of ffp (sic). This after we’d all renewed on the promise of Warnock staying on and the prospect of a new owner spending what was required to compete in the Championship. It had been the same story for several seasons prior. I don’t know what promises will be made this time to shift season cards but I will be very wary of anything I’m told.

Thought DTS’ point about low prices devaluing the product was interesting. I do feel like it is easy for people to not come to the game because the prices are dirt cheap anyway, so their initial investment isn’t really wasted missing a few games. 4,000 season ticket holders not showing And also the point about Town’s season tickets being less than the average National League North side says it all. Don’t really think anybody can complain about a gradual increase to be honest. We’ve been extremely fortunate to have them so cheap for so long. Times are hard but if your season ticket goes up say £50 for next season, that’s £2 a game more - surely people aren’t going to stop going for that, are they? 4k aren’t regularly showing because again we are stuck in another relegation battle (5 out of the last 6 seasons is it?) and watching a terribly run club managed badly and really average players, again! National league north sides rely on season card revenues because they don’t get TV revenue. If 12k renew next season at an extra £50 that’s £600k. To the club it’s a sum that could be made up by better commercials, better management, better player trading etc. that £50 (plus finance) to fans is a lot. People aren’t attending because the products been devalued, people aren’t turning up because it’s joyless going to watch town. The price of season cards has not devalued the product, the board has devalued it by running the club badly for so long. I'm one of the missing 4,000 but to be fair the club do well out of that deal. Because its good value I'm happy to 'donate' the cost of the ticket knowing I'll only get to 6/7 matches. I can't imagine I'm the only long distance supporter who does that, so if tickets go up too much then there's a few in that boat who just won't bother. The clubs logic seems to be that an increase in prices will lead to a significant increase in their revenue. But that's not always the case, particularly in these times.

Once money has been paid for event, no matter how much, if its continually shite then you'll find something else to do. The money has been and gine already so by nkt going you aren't losing anything at all. If SCs were £500 and we were struggling you'd still have a mass amount of non-attenders. Nobody is sat at home on a Saturday morning thinking 'Town are shite and the matches bore me to tears but because I've shelled out £15 for it, I'll get out the chair and go be bored again for 90 mins' Folk aren't going because they have lost interest. They have given up hope and a lot have lost trust in the club at the moment. Adding and extra £50/£100 to the season card price and being tols 'we know its shite but pay more and we try do better' isn't going to wash with a lot of fans. I think those at the club don't fully appreciate the feeling amongst a lot of the fan base at the moment, and that in itself is quite worrying.

I think Town might be playing a high stakes game with this.
When a season ticket is 'cheap' I'll take one up if even if I miss a couple of games at the start of the season, and a game in February when it's on the telly and I feel like shit, and a game at Easter because I'm on holiday, and maybe another Saturday because it's a wedding.
But if I think that just missing two games means getting a season ticket isn't worth it compared to pay on the day prices, I'll not get one
And I can guarantee that instead of 20 games pay on the day, I might only attend 10 (I live outside the area, I've a kid who likes to do other stuff, we might be shite).
Mad risk that it sounds like they are taking.

All opinons. The handful of times I've been in Riverside Upper I've found it to be a POOR view - feels very detached from the action, a bit like watching a boring game on TV, and in quite a few seats you can't even glance at the scoreboard to see the minutes. Oddly enough, the back row of the North Stand Lower is probably the best view I've had, in terms of being closely involved in the action and getting that tactical view laid out in front of you (if you're used to playing and seeing the game laid out in front of you a la Sensible Soccer, as opposed to the TV/FIFA'xx sideline style view). 1 season in the North Stand Lower was plenty though, for other reasons!! If that’s your feeling you will be pleased if they make behind the goals the cheaper seats , personally I do think behind the goals are the worst views and wouldn’t sit in the north stand for love nor money. The south stand at least offers atmospheric match pleasures( but put the prices up that will quickly disappear ) but I do feel the kilner and riverside are better viewing platforms and therefore should be charged more for that advantage. Good job we're all different, it'd be pretty crowded behind the goals if 16,000 Town fans shared my preferences!!

I’m obviously going to pay whatever they ask to watch them at home if it doesn’t go above that.

So looks like they are doing the tiered system, which to be fair is what everybody else does and is what we used to do. We've just gotten used to the cheap all in one price.
I personally think it would be reasonable if these were the new tiered pricing:
South Stand & Town Together Upper - £300 Kilner Bank and Main stand Lower - £350 Main Stand Upper - £400 Town Together Lower - £250 for adults and 1 free kids ticket. Or for this stand, just leave no SC and give tickets away for schools. Try get the next generation in.
I do think we will have a good season next year (as long as we stay up). I think it'll be a massive clear out and a busy summer.

Didn't Rubery try this in 1999, spent loads of money on players and didn't understand why he couldn't get 18k season tickets sold at 'market price'. If season tickets go above £300 it'll cap the volume to 10k. Rubery couldn't make the sums work and (nefarious rumours aside) we ended up in deep sh!t. History repeats itself for those unwilling to learn.

Begs the question why theyre even on this board if their hobby means so little to them that they'd rather jack it in than face the trauma of paying a couple of quid more to do it. I think there are 2 factors involved for most people. First is affordability, and second is value for money. Sometimes the line in the middle will blurred aacross both. On affordability, some fans may simply not be able to afford the extra £50/£100. Yes, the club do finance, so the monthly may rise £10 month which as you keep saying is only a couple of pints these days, but, if you're someone who has very little disposable income and all your bills have also gone up £x per month, you may find yourself in a position whereby that extra £10 is the difference between paying a bill and not. For people such as yourself who come across as being able to afford a price rise, its all well and good sitting there saying 'its only the same as a couple of pints' but if you haven't been able to afford them pints in the first place then you can see why someone may sack of the season ticket to enable them to pay for other more essential things. On value for money, some fans may well be able to afford the price rise, but due to the extra cost no longer see it as value for money so go find something else to do on a Saturday they find more enjoyable for the outlay of money. Average of £15 per game may well be cheaper than others, it may well be good value for some, but others, they will find other stuff to do for £15. Also factor in families, myself as an example. An extra £100 on my ticket is affordable, but add extra to my 2 lads and that £100 soon becomes £200. Suddenly an extra £20 per month to find. Again some may simply not be able to afford that, and some may find other things to do with thier kids which costs the same/less on a Saturday. That then eats into the other areas of income such as shirt sales etc etc. When a price is the price for a long period it just becomes the norm, regardless of what others charge. Just because its been cheap in the past doesn't justify a price rise when the product on offer hasn't improved. In sure those of us have read the accounts are fully aware that the club needs to generate more income, im just not sure that increasing season card prices which could result in a downturn in fans for rhe sake of £500k (as a rough estimate) is the best way of doing it. Edit - Just also add, a lot more games will be on TV soon, which will also play a big part in fans decision to renew or not.

or you buy a SC for whatever you can afford..the choices are £200, £250, £300 and £350
£350 gives you entry without paying any more
The others you pay a bit extra at each game..
£200 plus £15 on entry = £545 (£23.70 per game) £250 plus £10 on entry = £480 (£20.87 per game) £300 plus £5 on entry = £415 (£18.04 per game) £350 nil on entry = £350 (£15.21 per game)
Adult gate Price £25 = £575
Even a 'blank' SC at £30 which you top up from your Bank in multiples of £20 per game, max cost £510 (£21.30 per game)

I know football is business but if Town go down to League One and Town charge more for season cards, they would be charging more for an inferior product. I can see the clubs point in some ways about 4000 card holders regularly not turning up, but that's because they have been shit this season. I really think this could be a hard sell for the club. Success on the field brings more people in, but Edwards and Cartwright have brought failure on the field.

I’m taking the six year old grandson to Hampton & Richmond v Tonbridge (weather dependent) this afternoon in the National League South. Possibly my favourite non-league ground and the grandson loves H&R’s shirt.
I’ve just checked their season ticket prices for the current season out of curiosity, and they’re £250 adults, £160 concession. Matchday admission £19 or £15 concession.

I’m sure I’m not the only one on here who sometimes gets a season ticket and sometimes doesn’t. It all depends on MY circumstances. Nobody has any right to come on here and call out fans who make their own personal choice.
Back in the 80’s and 90’s I never had a season ticket and neither did my mates. We just rocked up, home and away, and paid at the turnstile. I only ever got season cards once I had kids and started taking them and even then, I skipped a season here and there due to moving home, going travelling, changing careers etc.
Having a season card does not make you a better or more loyal fan despite what our resident expert at everything thinks and repeatedly says. It’s a choice and this forum is a debate for that choice. One thing is for sure, I don’t envy the Club setting the prices as it is loaded with risk. Let’s hope they call it right for the majority of fans.

Between 3 and 4 cigs...half a lager... First rise in 8 years after 8 years of extremely low prices. Everyone needs to get real! The club have even said they intend to increase it to a moderate amount OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS! And they get stick for that even!! It's like an ongoing comedy sketch is this. What right do the theoretical tiny amount of people who cant afford this £2 a game rise have to suggest the club is wrong to do it and that the club needs to base its entire pricing policy around them, with the expectation that Nagle carries all the cost to make up for it? All the time whilst moaning that the product isnt good enough. Theres been one bloke saying him and his 5 mates will stop going if their SC goes up £1 !! And you wonder why I question their support of the club?? Honestly if this thread gets highlighted on other clubs' boards, not just in this division but all the way through the pyramid, they'd think it was a piss-take!

If the authorities start dicking about with Saturday ko times going into next season meaning more earlier starts on a Saturday on top of night games which are already a ballache for me plus I have 2 full price season cards to shell out for with me having a lad at uni in his last year who will be 23 come the start of next season and then you throw in possible relegation with significant increases on the price of season cards on top, it’ll be one in four pay on the gate for me and I’ll use my fire stick for the rest.

And with respect - you’ve got no right to tell people they should question their support of this club because they don’t have as much disposal money as you. Because that’s what you are saying. But theyre not hiking up prices crazily. If they go up £50 thats £2 a game. The price of half a bag of chips... 2 packets of crisps... It’s only £2 a game if you attend every game. I’ve already missed 6 this season due to a variety of reasons; holiday, Boxing Day, night matches, being near unwatchable under Moore, etc.

It's never been essential has it? ..it's a hobby... an interest. If anyone cant stomach paying a small increase for the first time in 8 years to do their hobby then I guess its just not something theyre that bothered about anyway. Yes, the club do finance, so the monthly nay rise £10 month which as you keeo saying is only a couple of pints these days, but, if you're someone who has very little disposable income and all your bills have also gone up £x per month, you may find yourself in a position whereby that extra £10 is the difference between paying a bill and not. For people such as yourself who cone across as being abke to afford a price rise, its all well and good sitting there saying 'its only the same as a couple of pints' but if you haven't been able to afford them pints in the first place then you can see why someone may sack of the season tickets to enable them to pay for other more essential things. On value for money, some fans may well be able to afford the price rise, but due to the extra cost no longer see it as value for money so go find something else to do on a Saturday they find more enjoyable for the outlay of money. Average of £15 per game may well be cheaper than others, it well be good value for some, but some, they will find other stuff to do for £15. Also factor in families, myself as an example. And extra £100 on my ticket is affordable, but add extra to my 2 lads and that £100 soon becomes £200. Just because it’s been cheap in the past doesn't justify a price rise when the product on offer hasn't improved. Yeah this is the issue. The prices being so low at Town over the last decade or so (including a promotion and a 3rd place finish & 2 seasons of Premier League football) has distorted the view of normal. Most fans of other clubs would be paying minimum double in the Premier League and £400+ in the championship. We’ve been extremely fortunate to have them so low for so long, but surely everyone is aware that we have had it good & at some point they would revert to actual normal prices.
