Why would you buy a sports team in another country in a sport you know nothing about where the whole success or failure of the project you then have to put entirely in the hands of someone else- a football operations director? It makes no sense. The future of the club is in the hands of Cartright who has no responsbility whatsoever.
Why own a business you know nothing about?
The clubs future is at risk now. Todays young football fans have very little interest in anything below the prem. Below the championship? Forget it. It doesn’t exist… the days of youngsters supporting the lower league clubs their parents support are gone. No one wants to watch very average very overpaid league one footballers play hoofball in small dilapidated grounds.
Nagel hasn’t understood enough about English football. Championship is everything yet we had probably the 3rd worst manager we’ve ever had for 3/4 of the season.

Plenty of reasons. But yes, they've misjudged it massively and it's going to cost Kevin a lot more than I imagine he expected.

If you lose your chips you get up and leave the table and whilst the club could end up folding altogether in the following seasons.

I agree with you. I don’t doubt his positive intentions but if you don’t know the business then you’re totally reliant on your director of football appointment and if you get that wrong your investment is f*cked.. But how can you pick an expert if you don’t know the sport/business?

It's never been essential has it? ..it's a hobby... an interest. If anyone cant stomach paying a small increase for the first time in 8 years to do their hobby then I guess its just not something theyre that bothered about anyway. Begs the question why theyre even on this board if their hobby means so little to them that they'd rather jack it in than face the trauma of paying a couple of quid more to do it. Reading this thread you really dont do HTFC any good with the way you promote price increases , most will pay more to go watch town but if any fans have any doubts your posts will do nothing but convince folk to stop going. Give the club a break and let the club promote the ST s because your speil definitely isn’t a great help. ?? I dont do the club any good , and am not giving them a break, by trying to get over how IMO what they ( probably ) intend on doing is reasonable and fair?

Which in 10 years might only have 40 professional teams in it: premier league and a training/feeder league. Football is a business now and only the biggest firms survive.. that’s capitalism.. I firmly believe teams that fall out of the championship now won’t be here in the 20 years.

People have been saying smaller clubs would all fold for about 40 years. before the premier division days I remember the padlocks been put on the gates at clubs like Middlesbrough and hull..Burnley were going to go..loads of clubs were teetering on the edge of oblivion.. Most were clubs in decrepit grounds getting crowds of 3 or 4000 They all survived and look them now.. Most clubs sell more tickets now than they have in almost all their history and most play in new stadiums and have training facilities that are on a different planet to what they once had. Think theres a problem with competitiveness between the very rich and everyone else. Not sure what can be done about that. But at the same time theres currently Luton, Bournemouth and Brentford in the top flight...3 clubs who traditionally most think of as 3rd tier clubs. So if you get enough right, clubs can still get to the top end. Leicester even showed its still even possible to win it if all the stars align.

I was one of them lol. I think it is way easier to sort yourself out in league one than the championship though. Rotherham will likely be top 6 in league one next year and we know how shite they are. I just don't think it's as easy as people think. Especially if we keep these serial losers.Bigger clubs have gone down and struggled to get back up. Took us 11 years last time, I don't fancy that again. This is a real problem for me, the club have been so used to scrapping for survival, the mindset is we've done really well to hang on. Individually, I quite like a lot of the players we have but, IMO, whether we stay up or go down, we need a total reset & the vast majority need to go, even though most of their quality levels seem to be best suited to high end Division 3.

No your going far 2 over the top and that’s coming from someone who IS willing to pay more I dont think I am really. Im only saying a moderate rise is fair enough as the club weans fans off these cheap prices over the next few years and that the club cant viably set its prices around a tiny proportion who say they cant afford any rise at all. Just think people have to be realistic about it. Whats OTT about that?

£70 I paid today to take my kids to that. I know it’s what I’d pay anywhere else as well but value for money / good entertainment it definitely is not. Football is an expensive day out now as a one off event, i just hope that Town don't out price the families with this new alleged price structure, I was lucky to take my kids in the cheap era since the centenary season, there were always cheap family options, we did 5 seasons in the FML then moved to the upper, the daughters lost interest unfortunately and the lad plays Rugby league now on a Saturday, I think they should turn the FML into a cheap stand for famalies and distribute the remainder of tickets to the schools that are in the breakfast club like they used to do.

Jesus I'll be nearly 50 if it takes us 11 year to get out of there again 😂 The wage cap in League one will make it extremely difficult to get promoted within a season or 2. Especially if Cartwright is still there, he's done a pretty shit job without a wage cap. The salary caps for league one and two were withdrawn. But I agree, large budget is no guarantee of success - a complete overhaul would be needed

A bit like when advisors tell their political leaders to rein it in and the time is now best to say no more. Personally feel like you’ve pushed the point to where folk start fighting against the point because of the person they’re fighting against rather than the issue.

I admit I don’t know enough about lower league attendances over the last 10 years but my guess is they’re declining and I think kids have other interests than lower league football, I may be wrong.

I would suggest you're probably wrong, if you looked it up, I'm willing to bet attendances, across all divisions, even non league are at the highest they've ever been since the all time low recorded in the 1984/85 season. Edit: a quick search of Google provides this article efl.com/news/2023/june/highest-league-attendances-for-70-years-as-nearly-22-million-attend-efl-competitions/

Kids / young uns, will still go next season if we’re in League one. I asked my 14 year old the other day if he and his mates would still go if we get relegated. Without hesitation he said he would and he recons all his mates would as well.
It’s some of us middle age lot that might stop going. 10 out of 12 years of relentless relegation battles, lack of goals, shit football and so on. With everything getting more and more expensive - 7 bills going up for pretty much everyone from next week - and an increase in season tickets, people might start thinking that £350 or whatever would be better used elsewhere.
There might end up being a few parents that buy a season ticket(s) for there kids to go with mates. But chose not to buy for themselves

Presuming league one season ticket will be £300 next season then you can actually get one for £115 by backing us to get relegated at a generous 13/8!

I get that it will still remain a social for those kids that can go on their own though. I coach u9s and modern kids are all about the star players and the top clubs. Half of them don't really watch football so it really important that lower league clubs get the young fans on board early. My lad was a mascot earlier this season and the club were brilliant. They do so much away from the pitch for young fans but ultimately if the team don't win much and I think more importantly, if the team are boring to watch then they aren't going to remain interested.

Good luck with the junior coaching, it’s bloody hard work….so much better being a parent just watching
