Which in 10 years might only have 40 professional teams in it: premier league and a training/feeder league. Football is a business now and only the biggest firms survive.. that’s capitalism.. I firmly believe teams that fall out of the championship now won’t be here in the 20 years. Tbh the whole thing can die for me. I think a lot are thinking that the way the game is our days, me included.

Presuming league one season ticket will be £300 next season then you can actually get one for £115 by backing us to get relegated at a generous 13/8! Hahahaha! Brutal… and it pains me to say it but it’s tempting.

Or full risk 13/8 £185 buys you either a free ST in div 1 or £485 champ .

And if they’re gonna lose then you might as well get your beer paid for after…!!

Tbh the whole thing can die for me. I think a lot are thinking that the way the game is our days, me included. My preferences YEARS ago would have been shrink both the top and second flight to 20 clubs, and then go directly to regionalised Division 3 North and South below that (also just 20 teams). JUST the two champions of North and South promoted, and the reduced division size allowing space for an end of season inter regional play offs with the next 4 teams from each division - 2nd v 5th....winner plays winner of 3rd v 4th from the other division (and vice versa) - then have a north v south final rotating annually round Wembley, Millenium Stadium and Old Trafford or somewhere for the play off final for the third promotion spot...and juggle the North & South divisions each season depending on who gets relegated. Everything below that, who cares - they should be semi-pro, this country isn't big enough to carry a fully professional set up across the league outside the current 4 divisions, and plenty of teams in those current 4 divisions are taking the piss financially speaking, they wouldnt exist if they were corner shops with the same balance sheets. It means some established little teams disappear, but the professional part of the game would be stronger, and fans outside the showcase two top flights would have more local games and therefore more incentive to go and pay and watch.

You make a good argument and you may be right about the next 40 years.. I admit I don’t know enough about lower league attendances over the last 10 years but my guess is they’re declining and I think kids have other interests than lower league football, I may be wrong. I would suggest you're probably wrong, if you looked it up, I'm willing to bet attendances, across all divisions, even non league are at the highest they've ever been since the all time low recorded in the 1984/85 season. Edit: a quick search of Google provides this article efl.com/news/2023/june/highest-league-attendances-for-70-years-as-nearly-22-million-attend-efl-competitions/Thanks for the link. I thought it would be something like that. More people going to football outside of the top division than theres been since that post war period ( when to fair there was bugger all else to do compared to now ) PL attendances themselves dwarf what crowds used to be in the old division 1. Sure I read that the total attendance in the championship this season would be the biggest the 2nd tier has ever had. Pretty much all England games are sell outs, even against some minnow opponent. We now have full time clubs right down into tier 6... Unheard of anywhere else. So I never really get the argument that the PL or Sky is somehow killing football in this country...there are issues along with it of course , but in truth the game's never been as popular and has boomed massively in the PL and Sky era!

To take this away from the new manager thread. I am sure prices will increase, everyone needs to understand this we have had it way too good for way too long. I still expect we will be in the bottom 6 prices for a championship season ticket even with approx £100.00 price increase. Hopefully a better performing more attractive team to watch will mean season ticket sales will be high. Currently our prices are Cheap, they can still be affordable even with a fair increase. If we look at say £350.00 for the season ticket thats circa £15.00 per match its really amazing value for Championship football, a pint of beer is pretty much £5.00 everywhere now, with minimum wage increasing also in April its basically 2 hours work for the lowest earners per game after tax. I know some people are really struggling at the moment but if they are struggling for this amount they are also going to struggle for the current amount. Plenty of payment options and some special offers I think this sort of price would be accepted and paid by the majority. I think a price point £300 - £370 per Adult ticket for championship football with a few simple tiers depending on where your seat is would work well (below jsut a quick example) £300.00 Lower tier behind goal (Big Red), Blocks 1-10 Core lower and Chadwick lawrence stand £340.00 South stand, Chadwick lawrence stand 2-9, Big Red Upper. Core lower rest of blocks and upper blocks 1-3, 6-8 £370.00 Core upper 3-6. I guess you must be one of Kevin’s yes men he’s employed to kiss his ąrse. The quality of football on offer for the last two seasons has been abysmal and the level of price increases proposed for some sections of the ground is preposterous. The club are saying they want to introduce zoning because everyone else does it. Why should we follow the herd? We should be setting standards that other clubs follow, not following bad practice set by others. In my opinion if we stay up there should be no more than a 10% increase on current prices, if we go down then no increase at all.

I thought I saw a photo of you there but might have been wrong. I wondered how the people there got an invite and what the conversation was generally about? Did he bring up season ticket pricing or just waffle on about not a lot?

I'd say £250 for an adult in League 1 and £200 for the terriers together lower as that needs repopulating and in the Championship £300 for an adult and £250 in the terriers together lower. Also keep the youth season tickets the same because we need to look after the next generation and introduce a cheaper option for over 65s. If we do go down I also think the Bristol Street Motors trophy games should be included in our season tickets.

Like a lot of people, I'll need convincing to buy our 3 season tickets next year... a price increase is the wrong way to convince someone.

We were a basket case who didn’t deserve to rip off small businesses running away from repaying it’s debt and carrying on in the same competition. The Huddersfield Town story since then unlikely wouldn’t have had the same highs, but those of us supporting the club wouldn’t be wondering about the motives of individuals loading £50m+ of debt into the club and seeing ridiculous attempts at chasing a dream…maybe we’d be playing Scunthorpe, Darlington and Chester, but that wasn’t that bad last time round, as a fan you adapt to the level you’re at…I’d rather see Town face Oldham and Rochdale than Watford and Plymouth.

Now I consider myself quite a balanced and considered chap, reasonable you might say, but I bet I don't get invited. I'll be sure to say if I'm wrong.

Stay up - I think an increase in line with inflation (plus a small amount on top) would be justifiable.
Go down - any increase at all would be very foolish. Actual attendance at the ground would drop through the floor.

Still enjoy a good old long distance away trip even after 50+ years. Nothing better than jumping in the car with your mates at 8am and not getting back until well after 10pm, or even the following day after an overnight stop. Take that away and it's just another reason to stop going altogether.

(I do write all this as someone who has been away to watch Town at Torquay)

After the debacle on friday, I will not be renewing. I have had enough after over 50 yrs following this club, and for most a season ticket holder. I will, next season, buy tickets for the odd game, if things improve I will consider a half season ticket around xmas time. I live in Emley, the local team are infinitely more inspiring than Town the last few seasons, they will be getting some of my money. It is soul destroying watching this club at times, here's hoping.
