I wouldn't, I'd rather have the option of doing both. Still enjoy a good old long distance away trip even after 50+ years. Nothing better than jumping in the car with your mates at 8am and not getting back until well after 10pm, or even the following day after an overnight stop. Take that away and it's just another reason to stop going altogether. You could still do that in the new revised version of the League Cup, of which only the first round would be regionalised. (I do write all this as someone who has been away to watch Town at Torquay) The League Cup should be regionalised up to the semi finals, quarters at very minimum.

But do you really think there’s any point in clubs like for example Carlisle and Colchester and all their fans being lumped into national leagues and going through the time and expense of facing each other?

Interesting discussion on talksport now with Peterboroughs owner about season ticket price rises It was, posh’ chairman made some good points but he’s looking at it through league one glasses where SC revenue is a huge source of income. Above league one, that isn’t the case. Especially Crystal Palace, £25k is a drop in ocean for an established PL club.

Revenue increased from £16million to £125million when we went up. Season tickets could be free in Premier League and it wouldn’t touch the sides.

Every PL club could give them away, yet many still scalp their loyal supporters. Football is run by accountants nowadays, underpinned by snake oil agents… More money in the game than there has ever been, yet more clubs have probably been in financial distress across the leagues than any previous eras.

I’m scraping the barrel but the cap on away ticket prices is one good thing about that league.

Though people would expect them to always be free from then on! For clubs that never get relegated, it wouldn’t really make any difference . But fans who promote more wealth for some of the richest people in the world , why . I get it for the majority of club's , but why do folk care if the likes of Man City , Liverpool , Man Utd owners become even richer. The PL have just announced they are discussing letting them off FFP with fines. So why would any sane person back these parasites. This isn’t accusing you of being one of those folk, but some people do think this way. Money to money. When it’s really not going to make a shit of difference.

Early April and still no announcement?! 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I expect that they rush something out on Monday on back of a positive result tomorrow or if things don't go well the narrative probably changes and prices are released and its angled as 'no increase if we are playing championship football'

Ive never really thought I was supporting the owner when I hand over my money...just supporting the club. The more money the club brings in, the more it can spend on things I want it to..like hopefully better players... but yes, I suppose it means the owner becomes richer by having to put less of his money in ( or becomes less poorer for owning a football club anyway ) But I doubt one person pays their money in the hope the owner can save or make some money at the forefront of their thinking. Thats certainly the case at most clubs including us...though with the added caveat that the more income a club has, the more the owner is allowed to put in himself ( its worked out on turnover isnt it? ) Even at Man Utd, matchday income ( which wont just be tickets but all sorts of things,,but mainly tickets ) amounts to about £175 million a season. Even though that is only about a fifth of their income, I dont think you can say losing the bulk of £175 million wouldn't make any difference to them! Not heard that about the PL letting FFP infringements off with fines. I cannot believe they'd do something so ridiculous..because I cant believe enough PL clubs would vote it in, which is what they'd have to do. Doing that would basically give a green light to throw as much money at it as you like,,and just factor in the fine as part of the cost. Clubs whos owners have a seemingly bottomless pit of money ( Man City, Newcastle ) would just be given the green light to 'officially' buy success. Even the likes of Liverpool Chelsea and arsenal would not stand any chance of competing...so why would they vote for that? Plus I think UEFA would be put under immense pressure from clubs all around europe to ban English clubs because they'd have an even more unfair advantage than they do now.

The FFP changes are trying to be done read up ( can’t upset the money train by having silly rules which contribute to a fairer competitive league) , fines instead of point penalties . I wasn’t talking about normal clubs I was talking about the big 6 . The prices of ST have been ramped up continuously over their years and not that I care it’s all to create the greatest league in the world. Not to compete with other English clubs , because they just spend more and more and more ( destroying the competition in the football pyramid) , and make more and more and more money themselves. Idiots say yes but it’s so we can continue to be the best. They were the best before in England.? But I also realise that some folk love promoting money to money . It’s the Tory way. Don’t know how to add a link but if you want a read look at one football - Premier league considering abolishing points deductions for PSR .

For everyone else, it just means; 1) you cant hope to compete now with Man City and Newcastle , and 2) just to stand still is going to cost you as an owner a lot more money. I agree the prices some PL clubs charge, particularly in London, is truly obscene. It almost beggars belief. But like anything else it's a supply and demand market and Arsenal, Spurs etc sell out their 60,000 stadiums every season regardless. I dont think that money goes to owners though..it goes to players and to other clubs when they buy players. The owners tend to make their money when they cash in and sell..then their money comes from the next billionaire who fancies having a go.

Football at the highest level is all about making money the owners use the clubs to spend money which would have been used to pay taxes . Then eventually often make billions selling the club on . Look at the glazers . Football used to be a working man’s game, now clubs mainly in London ( big clubs) are full of tourists or the prawn sandwich brigade, it is supply and demand but for me it’s a major negative and the sport is slowly becoming no longer available to too many at certain grounds . I’m not talking about clubs like HTFC. I think in our situation a ST price rise is due.

Well if 17 of them are then it'll happen. Its madness is that. Youre right, it'll basically become like the Scottish PL,,just the two clubs, effectively owned by Arab states with limitless funds, seeing which of them is willing to buy the title for the most each year. But for someone like Liverpool..wealthy as their owners are, they cant compete financially with the rich two if that happens, so are they effectively saying they'll be happy with 3rd being the realistic best they can do?
Not sure how that'll work with playing in Europe though because to compete in UEFA competitions you have to comply with their FFP rules. Maybe it'll bring about the ESL they all want and they will tell UEFA to do one.
Think the big problem those big clubs have in terms of their match attending fan base isnt the tourists or prawn sandwich corporate customers..it's that the younger end simply cant get a ticket to get in, so the average age of those attending goes up and up. They arent producing a younger element to it. Although again..when an old fans dies, there'll be no end of people wanting the seat at those big clubs, so maybe it isnt the problem it would be at a club like ours.
I think football is still a 'working mans' game if by working man you mean just normal everyday people. Just less so at the very top end where these clubs are now global corporate marketing tools as much as anything else. Theres no particular relationship between the individual fan and the club. The club doesnt value an individual supporter..hes just one of millions.
Thats why I would much rather support a club like town. For all the ups and downs and limited ambitions a club our size has, I genuinely feel as a fan the club values me and my support. That I am part of 'a club'. Dont think fans of the big 6 could say the same.

Dont think fans of the big 6 could say the same. Yep I agree with just about all of that. Although one point that irks me a bit about some of these huge clubs loyal fan base, I know of an handful who buy STs and away tickets as they are lucky enough to have established enough points but then sell the tickets on , often at a profit and retain their priority for getting tickets to all games, and also non of my friends but I have heard of STs being passed down after death. The club probably as no idea and probably doesn’t care. The young fan is a priority , they are the future in every aspect of life. For me personally my main fight in life is generally for the youth. I have kids and one day hopefully grandkids, the future on so many aspects looks dire without help or change for the young. So for me on the subject of STs I’m happy to pay more but would be most aggrieved if the youth weren’t looked after when prices are announced,. We’ve got a fair amount of young people watching town games live this needs to be a priority in my eyes . The future of our fan base.

It’s not the fans fault that they've needlessly blown millions on 6 managers in 2 seasons, and probably even more on players that aren’t good enough. The fans trust of those in the boardroom is incredibly low, they need to do some real work to fix that, increasing ST prices for a team relegated to League One would obliterate any faith that is left.

As watching the shit we’ve seen for a full 23 games is a bit too much.
