I am convinced that we will be safe this year, now. Obviously we can't be complacent, but I don't see that happening under the new regime. I am convinced that you have single-handedly doomed us with this jinx of a post!

We need results to go our way. But, I've seen enough of what we're trying to do, to believe that we're going to pick up some points between now and end of the season. Whether it's enough is a different story. I still remain to think it will take 53/54 points to stay up. I think we’re gonna struggle to get anyway near that tally if we don’t win next week. Huge game. 53 points is now 5 wins from 9! We need a couple of teams to really capitulate!

Yes, it still smarts. Based on their fans' goading that day a set of results on the last day of this season which saw Town safe and Birmingham drop into the final relegation spot would give me a huge amount of schadenfreude. I wonder if Herr Breitenreiter would describe it as epicaricacy. Smart arse

Who will be manager next season out of interest if/when we go down, assuming Andre won't want to manage in League one? They'll probably bring DM back after he's been sacked for taking port vale down.....

Always enjoy a London trip to Leyton Orient! Charlton is a decent one too. Plus a chance to renew rivalries with old finger chewer Nathan Jones. What's not to like?

I’m keeping a close eye on the L2 promotion race and keeping my fingers crossed that three of Posh, Bolton, Derby and Pompey get promoted from L1. Unbelievable that after the renewed optimism at the end of last season that we find ourselves in this position again. Talk about shooting ourselves in the foot. Wowser.

Playing the likes of Stockport, Wrexham, Crewe and Mansfield would be a real full circle moment. Would be interesting to see the number of league places which separated us at 5pm on the 12th August 2017

I’m old and ugly enough to remember us regularly playing against all those teams named in at least two different ‘eras’ (a bit less so Mansfield) so it’s not such a horrific thought for me. If we end up in the same league then everyone ends up there on merit. With a few notable exceptions, everyone has their ups and downs don’t they?

Anyone looking forrad to playing these nay do wells wants their bloody head testing. Having been to Field Mill before and since its redevelopment, and the Racecourse and Edgeley Park, it fills me with dread.

I am convinced that we will be safe this year, now. Obviously we can't be complacent, but I don't see that happening under the new regime. So I thought I'd look ahead. Our current squad is below, with players who are out of contract at the end of the season or on loan in bold. Goalkeepers: Nicholls Maxwell ChapmanDefenders: Spencer Ruffells Pearson Helik NakayamaHeadley Edwards
Turton Balker Jackson Lees Midfielders: HoggMatos
Kasumu Wiles DiarraRudoni Attackers: Thomas BurgzorgWard Harratt Hudlin Radulović Koroma Jones Healey Currently out on loan: Simpson Rhodes Hudlin High Rowe Austerfield Ayina Olagunju Personally, I'd exercise the option for Burgzorg, and try to extend the following contracts: Nakayama, Hogg, Jackson, Pearson I'd be fine with all of those out on loan leaving, except perhaps Ayina who I think is a prospect. I'd look to move on Ruffells, Ward, Harratt and Hudlin, leaving us a squad of: Goalkeepers: Nicholls Maxwell Chapman Defenders: Spencer Pearson Helik Nakayama Headley Turton Balker Jackson Lees Midfielders: Hogg Kasumu Wiles Rudoni Attackers: Thomas Burgzorg Radulović Koroma Jones Healey Add to that a new ball playing #6 or #8 (I'd use Hogg sparingly) and perhaps a new striker and new left back and we actually have a decent XI. Comedy post of the the season 👍

To be fair most thought we had turned a corner after Watford and Leeds. We seemingly had a competent manager who could get the best out of the limited players. As ever with town it's the hope that destroys you

we'll be fine. I'm sure of it. I hope this post ages well. The odds are that we're 4th favourite to go down. This post didn’t age well. In fact, it personifies the arrogance that seems to have been present in the HTFC boardroom this season. Hope this shit show of a season inspires KN to bigger and better things. Wish we were still fourth favourites to go down.

In fact, it personifies the arrogance that seems to have been present in the HTFC boardroom this season. Hope this shit show of a season inspires KN to bigger and better things. Wish we were still fourth favourites to go down. I've given up hope. Almost a complete reset needed in league one. Early autopsy -> The catalyst of this disaster was replacing Warnock, a man famous for polishing turd players/teams into world beaters. (Jake Edwards' annoying grinning "we've done this from a strong position" statement ) Darren Moore, who on paper looked a decent manager, but what a boring and uninspiring sh1t appointment this turned out to be. At the time how could our board foresee things would go so terribly with him in charge? Rumours of Warnock being eased out of the club due to possible new recruits not wanting to sign for us with him at the helm, perhaps some dodginess with agents related to him, a stubborn old timer used to getting things his way, maybe signalled the end? Is that our board's fault? Did Warnock fook us over and they had to act quickly? With Warnock's tongue in cheek exit comment of "they (Town) should make the playoffs", maybe the board also believed the players were good enough to do just that. Are the players really that shit? - Probably. At least 8 out of 11 first teamers are probably league 1 level - Helik/ Sorba/ Nicholls will probably move on to next year's championship 18th placed side. Early promise from Spencer & Headley has faded, the midfield has been largely terrible. Very little passion on show from a team. Could anyone foresee just how ineffective the new signings would be? Burgzorg, Matos, Healey, Bojan, Edwards, Wiles, Balker - none of them have been a success. On paper, they should be doing at least averagely. Is this Cartwright's fault? Are the board that bad? Breitenreiter has had no new manager bounce which was desperately needed, and has not changed things up enough to fashion anything positive out of this poor group of players. He won't want to manage in league 1, so we need to sort that shit out immediately at season end. We've had absolutely terrible refeering decisions against us of late, but these aren't decisions that relegate us - things have gone badly since Warnock left - even going back to relegation from the prem a few years ago they've been mostly one way, getting worse and worse (aside from a wildcard Corberan season). Massive massive fucking change needed.

As it stands, I'd say the 11 for next season looks something like this:'
Maxwell; Spencer, Ayina, Balker, Ruffels: Koroma, Wiles, Kasumu, Jones; Healey, Radulovic
Not that bad, actually. Definitely need strengthening in midfield, first and foremost.

Definitely need strengthening in midfield, first and foremost. Down to 8 already as Ruffels, Balker and Jones are always injured. Kasumu also known for injuries too. Radulovic has barely played. Wiles has seemed horribly out of shape since we've sigend him. Spencer likely to get a move imo. Koroma has had one good spell in how many years with us. Ayina hasn't been a first team regular with us. Leaves us with Maxwell and Healey. It's pretty bad went you look at it like that.

Interesting to see we're going to be coming up against both our L2 playoff opponents next season. Both of them have had time in non league since then so we've obviously had a much better time of things in the last 20 years.
We're also the 3rd team out of 4 from our successful Championship playoff campaign to drop down into L1, so maybe Fulham should start getting worried.
It does make you think though, that however permanent failure or success feels, these things go in cycles for all clubs.
