Where's this big screen then? I've not seen one, I have no interest in all this to be fair, I just get there at 5 to 3 and watch the game, this match day experience is lost on me. It’s because of the kids I go to be fair. Let’s be honest. The main thing is the game. That’s what it’s all about, watching Town. It’s what we’ve done for decades. But you’ve to evolve. I don’t mean fans, I mean the club. It’s all about revenue. I know a successful team will generate more revenue but there’s no harm trying to generate revenue prior to the game. And it’s a good crack when the sun is out and a good game is on. It’s across from the cinema. Look for the 30 foot TV up in the air 😀 There’s also a large amount of adults who converge on The Legends bar from 1.30pm onwards ( home and away fans ) Whilst space here is obviously very limited there are also bar areas outside near the fanzone which highlights another barrier - the weather.

Yup, I've not bothered with the new fan zone yet but as soon as the weather picks up it will be a great place for pre match beers. Highlights the need for something with a roof! Tried it before but the selection of food and drink was poor (only town lager which shouldn't even be called lager imo). The addition of a screen playing sky games is a great idea and it seems much busier now.

Key word is ‘match day’. It’s a day, not 90 minutes. Have you been hibernating for the last 8 months? Oh wait, you haven’t. Youve actually seen and said how big the tv is that we watch footy on before the game. You know, to help the match “day” experience. So the highlights to our matchday experience is watching another game on a big screen outside the stadium half an our before our game kicks off? Get a grip! Goodness me, I'm as cynical and negative as the rest, but give them a break.

Christ, can you not be positive about this. Great to meet up with mates an hour early and neck a few beers before the match, what’s not to like? Revenue you stream for the club too. Agreed the club needs a good size indoor or covered fans bar. I’m sure it’s in the planning.

I completely understand where Wagner was coming from with regards to sharing facilities with the public when the players were training etc., but I don't think there'd be anything wrong with having it open on a matchday when the players weren't there.

They must wonder why they bother.

Goodness me, I'm as cynical and negative as the rest, but give them a break. I doubt it came about like this, ‘The fans demand to see quality football, let’s get a big screen and show a different match before we kick off’. Seems just a sensible way to get fans to congregate and prepare to cheer Town on to me.

Agree, Canalside is a massive loss for the fans and I think the club also lost something by closing it to the fans. And the gas club both good places to drink, but getting hoofed out of the Canalside was a real fk up the arse,it wouldn't be so bad if the team actually improved after it.

...as soon as the weather picks up ( the season will be over) it will be a great place for pre match beers. Highlights the need for something with a roof! You mean like the nearby massive unused space that used to host a sports hall (with a stage) & swimming pool etc ?

It's added matchday experience for me. Was great before the cov game. Grandad not able to go away from the ground, so to be with him, having a couple of beers amongst a couple of 100 fans was really nice, something we haven't been able to do before. Like any new initiative, won't be to everyone's liking. But for me. It was enjoyable and actually a decent atmosphere.

Town fans together having a beer and only a short walk away from your seat.

Why have a massive screen outside the stadium for a hundred or so fans and have a piddley little screen inside the stadium for 15-20k fans? Makes no sense.

Probably because it's plenty big enough to serve its purpose: show the score and if it was any bigger, the fans at the back of the south stand wouldn't be able to see?

It has been said somewhere in the last few months (desertstorm maybe??) that the scoreboard is under review and probably replaced

Tbf a guy who was there mentioned on twitter that everything you could expect to be asked was and he saw it as overall a really positive experience. Many would say it's just talk and I guess that's fair until changes are made but it would seem a lot is planned for the summer no matter which division we are in He said he had big plans to improve the matchday experience this season but I'm yet to see anything you could describe as an improvement? The big screen outside the stadium is twice the size as the one inside the stadium which makes no sense to me. It's like sticking a 75 inch TV in your kitchen and a portable in the living room. I can no longer hear the announcer and I can't see the little 'big' screen where I sit. A few games back I could hear some long winded audio which lasted most of halftime, no idea what it was about but it sounded like people were watching an episode of coronation street or something? Then our players came out to nothing followed by the opposition who came out to music? I suppose if entertainment on the pitch is nonexistent we shouldn't expect anything at HT either? This is one of the most “Town fan” posts I’ve ever read 😂 you sound like you need a holiday

Thousands of people watch the early kick off in pubs etc before heading to their 3pm game. The big screen in the fan zone so far seems to have created a bit more of a buzz around the stadium. Why would you want a big screen in the stadium when the team you are watching are playing infront of your eyes?

Tbf some people have bigger TV’s in their front room in comparison to the scoreboard. Not that I can actually see the scoreboard in the upper tier. Can’t say it’s ruined my match day ‘experience’ as the team make a decent job of doing that all by themselves!

Anyone know if there are any plans afoot, the pub next to Odeon got kicked into touch, there was some talk about Gas club in the summer but that’s gone quiet.

Really liked the Gas Club. Ropewalk wasn’t my kind of place and I never went in Canalside. Peacock is alright but now it’s Magic Rock, the IC or the Sportsman.

On the subject of big screens the current one isn't fit for purpose in this day and age and half the ground can't see it properly. I'd get rid of it then put a big modern one in the corner between south stand and riverside and another in the opposite corner between kilner and whatever its called these days. I am sure there would be a way to fix them to floodlight 'legs'. Everyone could see a screen then and would also fill the corners in a tad.
No good until we own the stadium though...
And sadly we also currently have bigger fish to fry.
