There have been posts on twitter, from women pointing out she's doing them no favours. Look if she was as good as Collina, no one would say a word. So I can call a male ref a w...k.r, but I can't call her a c..t, though both involve gender specific terms of abuse. Any ref that's useless gets abuse, she's hardly going to be accused of being a baldie twat is she? Racism is out, that I completely agree with, but if you're going to ref at this level, either be bloody good, or grow a pair and take the abuse like other refs do. I've evn known the odd bloke ref apologise before now. Andre put it in perspective, call me anything you like, but you won't be calling him that's for sure, and no way will she have the guts to admit she got it wrong.

Completely agree. She is female and should not be critised for her performance.Just out of interest how do you know that its men that are critising her, I thought our personal details on here were confidential. She should be criticised for the performance. Not because it’s a female ref. Refs at this level are awful. But I do question how this female is in the position to be at this level.

Just had a squizz through Twitter and this forum. Fuck me. Are men really so insecure that they have to dish out such horrendous, misogynistic hatred towards today’s ref? We’ve had shite refs for my 40 years of being a Town fan. The only thing different today is the genitals in this ref’s shorts. If this is how we’re gonna lose, let’s just get fucking relegated. It’s shameful to be a part of. Oh grow a pair you massive fanny. Christ, people are angry, understandably so, let them vent FFS. What's shameful is people like you getting your knickers in a twist because some schoolboys on twitter have used some sexist language. 😆👏🏻

All I’ll say is she’s reffed us twice since the turn of the year and I’ve watched both games. V Hull City, she fell for all their play acting and time wasting from 20 minutes into the game and never recovered. Today, she gave a very controversial penalty with seconds to go that was plain and simply NEVER a penalty from an angle that she definitely could not see clearly from. The added on time I will be more lenient on as I thought we were guilty of some time wasting. But she’s reffed us twice and been poor on both occasions. For parity, we have had plenty of men reffing us this season who have been equally poor - some worse - but that doesn’t detract from the fact that in both her games, she has been overall very poor. Following the Hull City game, I emailed EFL, to complain about the quality of her performance. They didn't reply, previously emailed EFL 20 times about Jon Moss, they replied approx times & then ignored the next 14 emails, EFL are incompetent. Don't expect them to respond to my latest email, complaining about the dreadful refereeing of Rebecca Welch - UTT.

I got castigated for referring to her twice as 'she'. Would the same have applied it it was a male referee and I referred to him twice as 'he'?
Folk can be so overly sensitive due to the woke, politically correct agenda even when folk are being correct with their language. It's madness

Her gender isn’t totally irrelevant though, is it? I think a lot of the anger here is based on the fact that she’s reffing at this level purely because she is a woman and not because of her ability to referee. I suppose it’s highly debatable if she’s at Championship standard or not, I mean, they all seem pretty useless to me. "She qualified as an official through the Durham County FA and began refereeing in university football and in Sunday leagues in Sunderland. She began her refereeing career in 2010, combining the role with an administrative job in the NHS, before going full-time in 2019. Welch has regularly appeared in the Women’s Super League and officiated three games at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer, after being selected in Uefa’s elite referees list." She has been a ref for 14 years at different levels and she has refereed at a decent level before this. I have no idea if this is quicker than most blokes go through the ranks or if she is seen as having the ability to move up the ranks quickly. You do wonder if her moving up to the level she has refereed at does tick some boxes but she is not a novice. The issue is she added on more time than most refs would have and how she saw that as handball is beyond me, although Turton just shrugged and didn't complain so maybe he knew he had handled it. The sexism which many posters are quick to jump at is awful, her gender is not the issue. As has been said we have had worse male refs but this is a particularly hard decision for us at this time. It really hurts that her time addition and her penalty decision, both hers alone, have cost us 2 points we could not afford to lose. That is the issue I have with her performance today. It was a shocking decision because it came from 2 fuck ups

Horrendous. Wendies say the same earlier in the season.
However pushing a minority into anything, they can perform so badly and do what they like and will be protected at all costs.
Same with everything, need to be there on merit, not to meet ESG objective.
These things need to stop as it’s overall dropping standards

Let's not get into a bloody debate on who's a sexist or not, we've just shipped a penalty with the last kick of the game making it very likely we're in League 1 next season. If you don't like a post you believe is sexist, challenge it directly.

She’s obviously been promoted as a pin up to show equality She’s is shit and that is that Most of them male refs are shit aswell, so they won’t escape been called shit either
I’m getting pretty sick of this whole making a big thing about equality here there and everywhere
The Asian ref who’s been doing well recently, all you ever hear is things about the colour of his skin, shouldn’t we be talking about how well he’s doing as a ref??
Same with this female ref, she’s shit because she’s shit, not cos she’s a female,

Is she referring games at Championship level on merit because she's shown how good she is as ref?
Or has she been fast tracked to tick diversity boxes? Interesting that her and Sam Allison were both fast tracked referees.
It might have cost Huddersfield Town over 8 million of the Queens English pounds.
When she ref'd us vs Hull at home there was 2 goals and 2 subs in added time but she blew directly on what was given in added time. Despite all of those stoppages in play but the clock kept ticking and she blew after the original added time!
Today there was 5 minutes added time. Helik was down for at most 2 minutes, there was no other time delays for injuries but she kept playing on and awarded a penalty on the 100th minute!
Where is the consistency?

Yeah a minimum of £8M plus the status of our beloved club plus people's jobs etc etc etc but let's concentrate on the fact that there might have been some sexist language used on a forum by very angry people. Honestly I despair sometimes.

Issue for me is she’s been fast tracked up the leagues way too quickly with out gaining the experience at the lower levels, her first male game was 2021 and by 2023 she’s getting a premier league game. No issue at all if the referee is male or female but they have to do it on merit like everyone else.

A mate brought the same thing up on the way home. She doesn't seem to be a fan of Huddersfield Town does she. At least she's now well known among a fan base. Wonder what we did to annoy her so much.

Football in the Prem and EFL is played by men and was always officiated and commented on TV coverage by men. The inclusion agenda has been forced upon us and it hasn't benefitted the game.
Some folk are so brainwashed they can't see it and wouldn't dare speak up against it

The poor decisions made by that referee today were inexcusable. Nothing will be done about it. We, as fans... may have to get used to it in these "enlightened" times.
