Out of contract at Barnsley and Town are interested.

Former player. We do have a knack at going back into older players. Unsure why we'd be interested though. Surely Brodie would be our starting RB in Champ or L1 next year?

FFS not another one. Isn't it about time we ditched the model of re-recruiting players and try to recruit some quality instead? Another Will Boyle?

Can’t see it. A Barnsley supporting mate suggests Williams is poor, though not as poor as Jon Russell. He sure ain’t happy they paid us a bean for that lad. 😄

We just don't fucking learn, do we? That town are renowned for bringing back former players or that we believe any old shit posted on the Internet?

Gets a chance, has a very very good 6 months and thinks he's made it and the hard work stops. Showed at the start of last season under DS that taking your foot off the gas can send your career the wrong way. Clear there is a talent there after his emergence with CC, but felt he had zero desire.

We have Spencer & Turton, plus Jackson had a decent enough spell there to suggest he's OK as backup. RB is one of the positions I think we're OK in for Lg1. RCB We should be as well.
Of course, just because it isn't a sensible choice, doesn't mean we won't do it.

Think if we’re after actual wing backs isn’t he more suited to that than what we have?

Not the most exciting, but still only 24, lives locally, knows the manager and his system, versatile, captained Barnsley last season, not injured much - ticks a few boxes for me

Not sure this is a needed signing. As others have said, we have players in that position, assuming Turton is returning at full-speed and Spencer isn't going anywhere (hopefully!). Spencer should be first choice in that position, even if Turton is fit, and the focus should be on a left-back/left wing-back.
That said, managers like trusted lieutenants. And Williams would be that for Duff. Also skippered Barnsley so has some leadership experience.
Not my first choice of signing if it happens, but could be much worse.

Agree to an extent on priorities, but Spencer doesn’t currently have enough going forward (and I think is further from the finished article than is widely believed on here) and Turts is past 30 and has had a couple of bad injuries.

If it's to be 3-5-2, then perhaps Balker/Helik/Spencer as the 3 with Williams at RWB and Headley at left back is an option.

I'd like to think the new gaffer will assess the players himself, both on ability and attitude, rather than taking the words of the former manager who may or may not have been deflecting attention from hos own shortcomings. Personally, I'm not convinced by any of our left back options but I think Headley is the most useful of the three.

He's at the very least, a top championship defender. I agree, the 2 big "if's" in my message were keeping Helik and getting Balker fit, both probably unlikley

If they confirm ABs version of events then none of the "bad eggs" will be here for much longer

He’s still young, he’s been led astray by a couple of the group, he needs to remember he was with Harrogate before we gave him a go in the first team. He on what we’ve seen, could be very good in a 3-5-2 in league one.
