Let's *potentially* put it this way for Hogg. He's approaching mid 30's, he lives in Middlesbrough. How happy do you think he might have been when AB brought in two training sessions a day? I know hes from Middlesbrough but didnt know he still lives there. In terms of training, Id have thought a manager with breitenreiters experience would know that you arent really going to expect a player in his mid 30s to train in the same way players 10 years younger train. That they need a bit more looking after than that. I know it's a different level but towards the end of his career Ledley King barely trained at Spurs. just kept fit and then played brilliantly every week.

Should we not have seen an interview with him by now? I imagine he is very busy looking at the summer transfer window for both ins and outs. More than happy for him to be cracking on rather than him telling us what he has for breakfast.

Should we not have seen an interview with him by now? For me I think he has more important things to do than role out all the old platitudes they all come out with in a 'media friendly' way. There is the retained list to sort out and he has a lot of catching up to do on who we have, how they have played and why we have been so awful.

And get a staff together, another important and critical task.

Good video.
My immediate reaction was that this looked a good fit for Town. He’s hungry. He wants to be here and he wants to manage a successful team in the championship. It feels clear that the club will back him.
This could be the reset and refresh the club needs. He has a humility that I like- and that’s what our players need more of.
We do need to refresh the squad though. He’s not a miracle worker, but we are in a lower division.
Who knows if we start winning again and entertaining I might get my lad to come with me again.. As it should be.

Cheers. Quite a few interesting points from the Barnsley lad - can safely say I don't think we'll be found wanting in the fitness level and work rate departments by the sound of it. Might take a month or two to get the style(s) of play into full flow, but that's normal when you're starting out somewhere new. Decent watch, that, even this early in the morning! It's to be hoped that the Town fans don't expect instant results. It sounds like it took into October for the players to really get comfortable with his system and understand their jobs. Given we will have, I hope, new ones coming in, as well as a bunch who must be pretty demoralised after the season just gone, it is to be hoped everyone can see this as a long term project. Build a decent team this season and push for promotion but if that doesn't happen then strengthen and go again the one after. It feels like he has a lot of building to do and that will undoubtably take time and patience. I like the bit about him making the Barnsley players train with the army on the Yorkshire moors, bit Wagneresque? Sort the wheat from the chaff there me thinks.

Can imagine that takes some time to adjust if you are changing from some obvious engrained system the previous manager had drilled into the players. In our case, Im not sure we had one of any note at all, so in that respect hes maybe starting with a blank canvas.

Shh, that's not allowed to be discussed here, it's very controversial topic and the 'police' will nick you for it.

Warnock has made mistakes. Show me someone who has made no mistakes and you'll show me someone who has never done anything! The man who never made a mistake never made anything...

Should we not have seen an interview with him by now? In the absence of any better info, I think we have to assume they keep having to cancel it because he's commuting such a long way, by the time he gets here, the guy with the video equipment has gone home.

Duff's last appearance for Cheltenham was against Town (Abbott back pass) which was one to forget for most of us & turned out to be an expensive end to the extended (but successful) season.........MD played in all four of our 1st meetings with CTFC none of which we won.(not a great stat)

I get the point you are making but Ledley King still retired at 31. And in a dressing room that is supposedly so toxic, I think allowing a player to not train very much when the rest are still having to go in would only add fuel to the alleged fire. If Hogg was an exceptional talent for a club like ours, it might be worth considering but he's not.

If it’s an interview by our club YouTube guy it’ll be pointless. Asks the same questions every interview. When did you first hear of the interest?… what’s your style of play for fans who may not have seen your teams play…. what’s your message to the brilliant Huddersfield town supporters? Etc.

Bloke needs to know who is staying or going to start with. Needs to know how much of the budget is still here and then talk to the club about the specific or type of player he wants to bring in given the squad he is stuck with and the one he wants. This may well change if we can unload some players for decent or any money which wont be overnight. Id like to hear from Michael once ins and outs are sorted and he has a grip on what he has at his disposal and plus the 'evidence' or otherwise of the clubs intentions..

I wonder if Jacko has forgiven Pav yet. We ended up with his overweight mate Iffy in the Play Offs due to that. Didn’t do us any harm though.

I'd managed to get in to that paddock-style home terrace down the side - I could have almost reached over and grabbed Pav as he ran past. Funnily enough, the beneficiary of that was Michael's younger brother, Shane, with his first career goal. He and my mate used to work at Little Chef together as teenagers when they all lived in Carterton (Michael used to give them lifts home on occasion). My own misery was compounded by their text exchange during the drive back from the game. (I had the last laugh when he ended up at Bradford though)

Iffy by name, Iffy by nature but when he was good he was dynamite.

If I remember correctly, the genuine falling out was between Jacko and Iffy when Jacko dropped him completely for the final. Abbott was dropped for the play-offs, Terry Yorath says in his book that it was because of his attitude. Pav said to me that he was furious but at the same time admits he wasn't in the right frame of mind to play as he was desperate to put things right as the backpass really weighed on his mind. Said he was the most relieved man in the stadium when Fowler's penalty went in. Iffy and Jacko DID fall out, but they are best pals again now. Personally, I always felt that Jacko never forgave Abbott for the backpass and held it against him for the rest of his time here. But, the only person who could answer that is Jacko himself.

Playing him on the wing wasn't the best idea. Watched it on the big screen at the Town ground and remember thinking, 'what the hell is he doing?'. I interviewed Pav a few months back and he started giggling at the mere mention of that game, but did say how much it affected him.

You may be right about Jacko - once the goals started to dry up he was quick to bench him for David Graham (to be fair, it was a full season and a half in League One before they did dry up).

Yeah, that's what I meant. He was on the bench in the first leg but dropped completely in the second. Funnily enough, he would have taken Lee Fowler's penalty had he been on the pitch, but he'd come off injured. Jacko had tried to palm Abbott off to MK Dons in a swap deal with Dean Lewington at the start of 2006-07, but Abbott refused to go, he wanted to stay at Town and get back in the team. Eventually, he left as he realised Jacko and the club wanted him to go. However, he regrets it and wishes he'd stuck around a bit longer as Jacko got sacked two months later and he always wonders what might have been as he might have got a chance under Andy Ritchie.
