Well, yes, but also no. Just don't fanny about with it in defence, scared shitless to just hoof it out of a dangerous area. Don't pass it back to the keeper with five mins left on the clock, 0-1 down, because that's what you do in training etc etc Lower league teams more often than not can't play that way successfully. Also, it's proper boring. Fast, direct, pressing game. Of course, I'm not adverse to a passing game, but there's passing and there's this bollocks. Especially egregious when in a 3-5-2 (5-3-2) formation.

We tried it at Lossiemouth with players who didn't have the skill level to bring it off. It was a F**king disaster. So went back to either kicking up the park from the keeper or rolling it out to the fullbacks who launched into the channels.

Looks like we are now seeing serious question marks about his commitment to staying/living in the area/potential no 2 who the fans of his present club are happy to see go. A owner who has made some serious mistakes with appointing managers, particularly last one. And a significant number of contracted players who don’t Care accordingly to AB. Sound like both us and Birmingham (similar problems) are in for a shot season despite the bookies having us to finish top 2. Top two finish, we will be lucky to be in the top 10 under this fella, mark my words another disaster of an appointment.

They wont be able to explain it, as its a stupid thing to say as nothing has even happened yet. But if we do win the league / finish second, they will tell you they never meant it and they could see it working from day 1.

Because we will loose most of our best players and along with Birmingham everyone will want to beat us. If people think it will be a walk in the park!!think again

Look how long it took us before to get out of League one and that was with a very good team. So many things have to be right about a promotion winning club and we have so many things wrong at the club at the moment and i don't think were going to bounce back straight away, no way Pedro.

Because we will loose most of our best players and along with Birmingham everyone will want to beat us. If people think it will be a walk in the park!!think again Firstly I don't think many will think it is a walk in the park, far from it. We know what to expect and so does Duff. As for everyone wanting to beat us I don't think that's the case either. We have talked ourselves down so much in recent years that the general view is we are probably returning to our natural level (a view I don't concur with but I accept that's the perception). As such that might actually help us. I would hope the club ultimately sees it's self as being worthy of better but I don't have a problem with just getting our heads down and getting on with the job in hand. Let's create a new identity and outlook by building from a lower base. As for our "best players", would these be the ones who were essentially a bunch of individuals who significantly contributed to our relegation? We all agree we need fresh start so it's true we may lose a couple who I'll be sorry to see go but this is the time to start again. None of that proves Duff will be any good of course but equally non of it means he won't. Purely based on his demeanour and attitude I am hopeful he'll prove to be a good appointment. However he needs support and excellent recruitment. He also needs a bit of time and space to prove his ability. It shouldn't be forgotten that Warnock 1st time round was viewed as pretty hopeless for 2/3rds of his first season. It's also true Warnock got rid of what were his "best players" too. I can't be certain MD will be successful but it does feel like we might be turning the page and starting a new chapter. I very much hope so because it is what is required. The first few weeks and months will be viewed with both hope and scepticism. The negative side must be expected as what we have seen, particularly the last 2 seasons, has been demoralising. That said things will turn round and I think we have to give MD the time and chance to do that. It won't be easy, anything but, but at some point we need to look forward and start pulling together. I'm prepared to give MD, and Mr Nagle, the time to do that.

Jesus wept. Can't we just get behind the new bloke instead of writing him off before a training session to a season has even started? There is actually no credible reason to call this a disaster appointment or question his commitment when he's not even got through the door yet.
The biggest disaster would be ending League One and Duff not been manager. The constant merry-go-round will never get us good football.

If people think it will be a walk in the park!!think again That doesn’t explain why you think Duff is a poor choice. I’m not sure many folk on here think it will be easy, anyone who has supported Town a while knows we don’t do easy, but I am interested in why you don’t seem to think Duff is the right man.

Hope Southampton give you a beating tomorrow! Don’t think the poster is a WUM, just many of the glass only got a dribble in brigade. For what it is worth I hope we keep Duff, & Patterson if he joins, for a few years and get some stability into the club. I am pretty sure they would cut it at this level, and the Championship, it remains to be seen how well, if we get back up there. Sean Dyche, who I hope Duff may emulate, was at Burnley for 10 years and did really well. I hope we have a similar future on the horizon.

Can we set up a separate sub board for the miserable sods? There's a difference between being positive or negative and being realistic! We don't even know what the squad will be for next season. Already the knockers are in full swing against Duff,at least let him lose the first game LOL.

This whole "Duff doesn't want to move here" myth is exactly that. A myth.
Duff's family will be living in Cheltenham and he will be living up here. On his days off, Duff will be going back to Cheltenham to be with his family.
Nagle has debunked the myth, Duff has debunked the myth, yet people are still relaying that myth as though it is fact.
What exactly is the problem?

What exactly is the problem? The problem is idiots like softboy that like to find any way possible to criticise the club, even if it’s entirely within their own thick head. The last page on this thread is precisely the sort of reaction softboy would be hoping for. For some bizarre reason softboy thinks his constant sarcasm and criticism is funny. It isn’t.

If people think it will be a walk in the park!!think again I’m not sure any of us can predict how he will do. What we know. The current squad isn’t good enough for the championship as results proved. Some have created diversion amongst the squad. Some were bad signings by Warnock and we are stuck with; ward and ruffles. Nagle has said no fire sale so any that do leave will leave at a fair market price. There will be squad investment. The infrastructure of the club seems to have been invested in - which should surely effect the running of the club for the better. The shit show of Hoyle - plotless - Hoyle and lack of investment in the squad is over. Duff has the ideal platform to build. A full summer to work with the recruitment team and the players when they return. Will he work out ? Will he be successful? Who knows but he has the best building blocks any manager has been given for an awful long time.

There was never massive investment in the team. So I don't know how you can say lack of investment is bull crap
