Impressive if we've managed to lure his preferred number two from a manager's role. I was concerned he'd have to bring in people he hadn't worked with before. Paterson doesn't seem the type to suffer fools either! I'll be very pleased if it comes off.

No shitshow from hoyle Duncan...12 years pal without a relegation to league 1 Some people forget the good times and just remember the bit of bad 2 years ago this month we were in the championship playoff final Sorry but the lack of investment bullcrap doesn't wash Don't get me wrong hoyle covered the short fall, but was prepared to put us in administration so he could get the shares to sell the club. There was never massive investment in the team. So I don't know how you can say lack of investment is bull crap The best period for me in 48 years since my first game...he wasn't wealthy enough to sustain it but it is what it is

See if there are more ups than downs when he is done.

Because we will loose most of our best players and along with Birmingham everyone will want to beat us. If people think it will be a walk in the park!!think again I don't recall many seasons where we played teams that didn't want to beat us.

Yes Hoyle did fantastically, gave us great memories, however the whole Hoyle-potless-Hoyle was a complete shitshow. The squad was never invested in after the play-off final loss and its one of the main reasons we are back in league one.

I’m not sure any of us can predict how he will do. What we know. The current squad isn’t good enough for the championship as results proved. Some have created diversion amongst the squad. Are we any worse than other clubs? We only have a failed managers word on that. Some were bad signings by Warnock and we are stuck with; ward and ruffles. Nagle has said no fire sale so any that do leave will leave at a fair market price. There will be squad investment. The infrastructure of the club seems to have been invested in - which should surely effect the running of the club for the better. The shit show of Hoyle - plotless - Hoyle and lack of investment in the squad is over. Duff has the ideal platform to build. A full summer to work with the recruitment team and the players when they return. We hopeWill he work out ? Will he be successful? Who knows but he has the best building blocks any manager has been given for an awful long time. I am just not as hopeful as you are based on last seasons rather poor show all round by the club. 53 years watching town I’m not sure I’m hopeful. What we need is to find a couple of gems. Aaron Mooy - im sure a few thought why we signing somebody Australian football. What a player he was. Up there with Marcus Stewart, Peter Clarke, Jacko and Ian robbins (that lad knew where the goal was ). Boothy as well- played 100% for the club and the shirt. Not like those spoilt brats last year.

Ultimately it was his business going to the wall and his financial interests that meant we were in that position, where someone who didn't own the club was funding it while the club serviced the debts of the person who did own it. The administration thing wasn't because of club debt, but because of the impasse with Hodgkinson's administrators and a way of breaking that impasse. You're not wrong about reason, but you are wrong with where the finger should point.

Hodgkinson said he had the money to run the club. How is that Dean Hoyle's fault? Does the person who knew he DIDN'T have the funds to run the club not shoulder some of the blame?

He wanted a Town fan and not some “dodgy foreign investor”. He probably put aside his reservations, thinking it was for the best in the long run. Didn’t quite go as planned. Or did it? 🤔

I wasn’t there in the room but PH had an ego to match anyone’s He lived the dream in his training gear etc If Hoyle genuinely thought he was a good choice then his judgement was shot to bits by his illness and ongoing effects. We are here now with a chap who the jury is very much still out on hoping better things are on the way. It’s been a tough learning curve but you hope lessons have been learned.

Why, on a thread about our new head coach, do we have to get into all the Hoyle and Hodgkinson stuff. It is time we moved forward not continue to rake up old issues. If we are going to have a reset this season then let’s bury the old ones.

Completely agree.....or at least have the argument in an appropriate thread so I have the choice whether to read raking up history or not. I hear the decision to let Herbert Chapman leave was scandalous....lol

Not to mention backing Lee Clark to the tune of millions upon millions of pounds, David Wagner too. I don't know how you can say there was NEVER massive investment in the team with a straight face, to be honest.

Get back on track about Duff everyone please.
There’s enough Dean Hoyle, Phil Hodgkinson, & Town finance threads to continue that debate on. The rest of us are looking ahead with hope, not at the past with anger.

I think Micky Duffers is definitely our man for the long term. Any fans who aren't looking forward to next season with optimism, what's the point?
Why not take up another hobby? Like reading obituaries.

Regarding Paterson it looks like he was only under contract until the end of the season at Burton. Not sure if he was offered another after keeping them up but there must be a possibility he has decided to rejoin Duff as assistant. It worked at Barnsley so let’s hope for a repeat. It would certainly fill a gap in Duff’s coaching team.

What I meant was we wouldn’t get these long arguments in inappropriate threads if people didn’t feed them. Just ignore them.
