Hello all! Glad to see you’re seeing just some of the changes off pitch being made over at HQ. Going to be a lot of really cool things on the horizon. I wanted to create this thread specifically for content- website, app, socials, etc. As the offseason gets into full gear, I’d love some suggestions as to what you see/look for as far as club content goes. I know there are many ideas under the “Club Communication” thread I’ve been spying on, but thought I’d crystallize it a bit here. Any input is as always appreciated. UTT I'm probably in the minority but I'd just like a break from it all to be honest Dave. The last thing I want to see during the "off season" is continuous posts and news/stories, much of what is often forced just for the sake of getting 'content' out there. Maybe that's just the way of the world nowadays but I'm ready for a breather. Forget about football for a couple of months and come back refreshed for the new season. By all means get on quietly with business behind the scenes but sometimes less is better. Sorry, Jack I feel exactly the opposite ! I can never get enough Town stuff ..

I hear you on the first one, allow me to try and explain. Obviously the season was a bit hectic. Honestly there just wasn’t the time to work on shooting and the like as before. The final episode of the season (and epilogue) are done and ready, but we decided it would be a little insensitive to release it during or immediately after a relegation fight. Perhaps an error, perhaps not. But trying to err on the side of being thoughtful. Final episode will be released likely late this or early next month.

A section of the website exclusively for supporters. Call it "Only Fans".
And my wife wants a monthly "Duff in the Buff" calendar.

A player cam type video of the Austrian trip would be cool. A handheld self-shot type video behind the scenes. For the cricket fans an obscure reference is of a program that appeared on sky last few years of Dermot Reeve filming the tour of India in the early 90's. Some proper behind the scenes stuff, genuinely quite interesting and a good way to see squad dynamic. That's a great idea, I'd watch that, I might be in the minority here but I love stuff like seeing what the players are eating or how they interact with each other.

The dermot reeve video was really good, a real behind the scenes look at the personalities of the England cricket team at the time.

Drove past JSS and Canalside and it’s just a ghost town.
From a business point of view, there has got to be something done to help revenues in the summer.
Is there an opportunity with the kids / academy during May and June interms of content, events, open days at training centre

Definitely worth asking the same questions of younger supporters and the next generation - not just the miserable old farts on here. TikTok, Insta and all that.
Bit of personality in club Comms. Yes, it's a challenge to maintain professionalism, and yes it's a challenge not to drift into tedious "banter", but done well it's effective. Brands like Paddy Power do that well. Who remembers Heff's dressing gown? Personality.
Here's a question - how many Man United fans could name someone in their club's ticket office? How many Tottenham fans could name their team's kit man? What made Sunderland Til I Die work so well - apart from laughing at their misfortune - was that it showed the people working behind the scenes, like catering staff - people who you could relate to.
Things like seriously improved graphics (credit to the club for that, it hasn't gone unnoticed) are great from a business point of view, but football clubs are so much more than that. Aim big, but in some ways it's good to think small - too much modern football is corporate, faceless and soulless. We're a proud Northern town, not customers in the Far East.
Which is a long-winded way of saying - get Brooky on TikTok, make a behind the scenes video in the Canalside kitchen, and get Heff back as hypeman.

Written articles of interviews/press conferences on the website, not just videos of them on Twitter or the website. Unlike most people these days, I'm not that fussed about everything being in video form. I'm quite happy with a quick snapshot of what the manager says post match, or what the new signing has to say, rather than a 20/30/40 (or however many) minutes video every time. In other words back to how it was 18 months or so ago in that respect. 100% agree…I’ve taken to scraping the YouTube transcripts and getting a bot to summarise them…so the tediously long first Duff press event I read in a few seconds as… "Michael Duff, the new head coach of Huddersfield Town, is focused on fostering a winning culture to achieve a swift return to the Championship after their relegation. Duff, who has had success with Cheltenham Town and Barnsley, acknowledges the challenges faced last season and sees this as a chance to reset and rebuild. He emphasizes the importance of hard work, proper recruitment, and the right staff to lay the foundations for success. Duff expects his players to show commitment and the right attitude, representing the club with pride and understanding its significance in the town. He believes that creating a cohesive, hard-working environment is key to securing promotion and moving forward." Starting press conferences on time would help..

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you.
Our comms team is amazing and I love them very much. They work their tails off and I have really enjoyed getting to know them.
I’ll be over next month and in July/August (with the fam), and I’ll be grabbing a lot of ideas to run up the flagpole directly from here.
No matter how smart/dumb I am, the one thing I can’t be is someone with the decades of experience found here. So I appreciate as always the feedback, keep it coming.

Then over to Huddersfield for 7-10 days so they can see what Daddy’s been doing. My daughter is 16, son 15. She has one more year before University, he has 3. So I’m trying to pack as much in as possible, Clark Griswald style.

I think fans should be able to park in the Canalside again and also there should be a Pimm's Bar for Business people/Professionals.

I genuinely believe the YouTube doc was a good idea and I was sad to see that end, a proper full season one with one episode every month would be interesting to watch. To follow the team, Kevin and the board all the way through a full season, good, bad or indifferent.

Mentioned this in another thread but has the club considered a WhatsApp channel? Seems a simple way for Town to keep fans updated (particularly to those who don't use social media), promote shop offers, show more behind the scenes etc. A number of other clubs have them... Premier League teams, the scum, even the likes of Shrewsbury. Someone's listening www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029VabbP3WAO7RO1wgYZQ3D

Not specifically what you're asking about but just something to note. Yesterday I went to the T20 cricket. ( Justasmithers, Cricket is a sport where a match can take 5 days, from 10.30am til 7pm, end in a draw and everyone enjoys it. Like baseball on valium) Anyway, at Headingly cricket stadium I noticed you can sign on for free wifi. And as if that wasn't good enough, the adjacent Headingly Rugby Stadium had a service too ( Justasmithers, Rugby is a very aggressive sport where the teams try to get the ball over their opponents' defensive line, and to stop their opponents from doing the same by tackling them very physically, without helmets or pads. Like gridiron for grown ups). Anyway, I wondered if you might have a with His Holiness, Lord Moustache, and suggest of they can do it we can, once he has secured full control of the stadium. I'm not massively bothered about surfing the web during a match but it is frustrating to find oneself unable to cash out on your favourite betting app when you know Town are are about to screw your acca. ( Justasmithers, an acca is an "accumulator" - a series of connected bets on sporting outcomes that need to all happen for you to win, usually with much bigger odds than a single result. Like Vegas without the hookers, senior citizens soiling themselves on the slot machines and Elvis).

The ‘Everything Together’ promo video on the what’s app channel, I think it’s the best bit of branding the club has ever done. Admittedly a low bar, but it’s high quality.

The graphics coming out of the club no longer look like they've been thrown together by a work experience kid using Microsoft Paint.
Chapeau.

"supporters can now receive notifications directly from the Club, with messaging to be focussed on key information, (shitty advertising animations ), and match days only...." source: www.htafc.com/news/2024/june/town-launch-whatsapp-channel/Annoying. Thought this was going to be what it says on the can, not something that takes 50seconds to slowly put a load of boring text on screen, remind us of the rubbish Chinese Terrier and tell us something we were told weeks ago through every other channel?!

So, with Dave being in Huddersfield for 7-10 days, we could have a “spot Dave today” competition.
Might have to have some rules about omitting the obvious ones, Castle Hill (in the day hopefully), Emley Moor, Shat (having a pint with Wardy), etc. etc.
Although it’ll irk a few, I’d recommend a visit to Saltaire Dave, not that much to see, but a quite interesting place.
I think we should also find him a route that will take him past the most godawful car journey you can experience in less than 10-15 miles, something like getting to Luddendenfoot?

To each their own but yeah no chance I like both, though it’s quite a while since I went to a ballpark - I used to make a point of taking one in as the Americana of a baseball game was compelling to me. Never bothered getting a team but been to Yankees, Baltimore, both Chicago teams (Cubs undoubtedly the best experience), Dodgers, Astros and Giants. The purists may scoff but a T20 game should be on your itinerary next time - explosive entertainment.
