Wow. Not the worst move for him after relegation with Burnley.
Craig Bellamy is going to be assistant manager at Bayern which feels really weird..

That's our chances of signing Rodriguez gone. Front two of Kane and Rodriguez will guarantee them the title

I thought Kompany would do another year at Burnley and then go for the City job.

That would be a bizarre appointment really based on him as a player, not a manager. Mind you, all he'd have to do to get some cups back in Bayerns trophy cabinet is sell Harry Kane.

Is it just me that thinks Kompany is actually a bit of a twat? Think he got a bit lucky with 2 or 3 loans that worked perfectly for the Championship in that they actually played most of the games and worked from day 1. Last season told the tale, Luton were better.

Very strange appointment for me, too... as is the talk about McKenna to Chelsea being a possibility. Yes, he's got lots of potential & he's worked wonders with Ipswich but Chelsea are wanting someone to oversee another Champions league push & McKenna has no experience of Premier league players, let alone "superstars".
Kompany is certainly an appointment more from his playing ability, rather than what he has done as a manager.

Pochetino had been hampered by all sorts of injury issues but had just started turning them around and they finished the season very strongly. Everything pointed to him continuing that progress next season and them definitely challenging for top 4 and maybe even better than that. So they sack him and want to replace him with a total novice at that level? Bizarre really. Chances are McKenna will go the same way as Potter did at Chelsea and they'll be looking for someone else by xmas.

He was Solskjaer's assistant at Manchester United... I had completely forgotten that, thank you. He may well have been there at the same time as (not the real) Ronaldo - can't be bothered checking - which, it's fair to say, would mean he's worked with a "superstar"

Someone I know let slip a couple of weeks ago that VK was leaving Burnley (didn't say where or why), also that Liam Rosenior could be in line for the job at Turf Moor (who apparently turned down an offer from Plymouth).......Looks nailed on for Bayern @1/20 now, keep an eye on odds for next Burnley boss.

I wonder if it was a choice between Vincent Kompany and Paul Heckingbottom and Kompany just edged it for Bayern because his burnley team finished top of the championship and not 2nd?

Well, Bayern think he is well worth a punt from little old Burnley and he now has Premier league experience so watch this space.

Thinks he's smarter than he is. Will get found out imo. But they probably look at it and think either he does well and they are happy, or it fails and they can easily dispatch and try for Alonso/someone else next year
He speaks german i think which might have helped
As an aside, i've seen lots of mocking of Harry Kane because of this, and I really dont get it (and the mocking of him in general). He was mocked for staying at spurs, then mocked for going to a club you would expect to win a trophy
Football fans are a weird bunch.. He's the antithesis of 'i hate modern footballers'.. gave his best years (?) to his boyhood club, has been a great captain for england, in a very likeable era for england where he's scored loads of goals. He has a quiet private life, says the right things, doesnt seem to be in it just for the money, and is a top top player
yet i've seen england fans seemingly revel in his misfortune
I really hope he wins something (ideally with england)

But theres still a bit of humour in the fact that despite all that and despite him having a brilliant season himself, he seems to have the ability to repel silverware.

I think it's partly the irony that he was so loyal to Spurs (which is great) but when leaving said he was looking forward to winning trophies. And ends the season without any again. My piss-taking certainly hasn't been meant as a sleight against him.

Plymouth's board on a par with Town's it would seem. Rejected by Rosenior, so someone then pipes up "Let's go for Rooney then". Beggars belief, expected to sign up tomorrow.

Over 400 pages on the Pilgrim's forum with a poll added which currently stands at, Yes to Rooney 206, NO WAY 538 & undecided 123.........I wonder if the PA owners mate reads the forum?
