I liked your post, but it is not exactly answering the question is it! My understanding of the situation is: The rules in L1 are that a chairman can donate the money, so if it had been the fee then we could (if we so wished) pay that without falling foul of legislation. However, once you're promoted you're back on Championship rules - which state that you can only have a certain amount of outgoings Vs your income. In other words, the only ways we could spend a fuck ton on wages on a long term contract and avoid falling foul of FFP are: 1) Massively increase revenue without chairman's donation. (How?) 2) Fail to win promotion so that Championship rules don't apply. or 3) Have a fire sale once we're in the Championship, and probably still have a points deduction (a la Derby County a few years ago). I wonder if there is always the option of paying a big signing on fee as a way of negating the ffp/wages element? However you’d have to be shelling out a fair chunk of money to a player up front to do so.

Meh. It's a bit of banter. If we'd hijacked one of their deals I'm sure we'd fire a light hearted barb in their direction too. I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over it. They have been linked with a £2M Dutch defender which has now stalled. Get in there and hijack that deal. Worth the £2M alone just for the fans meltdown. Also, this is why I couldn’t be trusted with a lot of money Left sided centre back? I don't know anything about him but if his salary demands are reasonable and he's good enough for Brum to be willing to pay that then it would solve the only concern I have about our defence at this level.

The only issues then are whether you consider AM to be worth that outlay, and also (as alluded to on We Are Terriers by Messrs Chicken and Hartrick), agents talk. If word gets round that we are willing to spaff huge sums to get the players we want, then any future players will come to the negotiating table demanding the same - knowing that they're likely to get it.

Yeh exactly that. Also another reason not to pay huge sign on fees is that would imagine it’s all up front, wages are paid weekly,if someone doesn’t turn out to be what you wanted theoretically you can sell them and never pay those wages. An up front sign on fee that isn’t the case.

Also, this is why I couldn’t be trusted with a lot of money I had a proper good laugh at this line It reminded the of the story about the guitarist from one of my favourite punk bands, John Plain from the Boys. I believe that on hearing they were being signed to a much better record deal they sent John to buy some quality equipment, unfortunately, he blew the lot at the bookies instead & still to this day he has been known as Honest John Plain.

It’s the sentence “as funny as it would be!” Complete arrogance from their deluded fan base acting all Man City but most probably been the biggest moaners of money destroying the game etc. pathetic under achievers for a catchment so huge. Reminds me of a skip up the road! Meh. It's a bit of banter. If we'd hijacked one of their deals I'm sure we'd fire a light hearted barb in their direction too. I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over it. Banters (hate the word) is not the same as arrogance. The same as there’s difference between a joke and delusion.

Reported by Bristol Live journo that we have had a bid now accepted. If the last few days has taught us anything it’s to not get excited until they are sat in blue and white stripes telling us how they first heard about the interest from Huddersfield.

Makes sense that both us and Birmingham are going to be looking similar players, but they clearly have an appetite to throw more cash at it than us. We're definitely fishing in the right pond though.

Reported by Bristol Live journo that we have had a bid now accepted. £450k reported. Rovers fans think it is very cheap and don’t want to sell. He is in the last year of his contract so we could be getting a good deal.

But if they're certain of Leonard, will they want to throw silly money at this for the sake of taking him off us? Because they can't pull the same stunt time after time - it doesn't represent good value for them, money to burn or not.

Welcome to birmingham Antony Evans “So Antony, when did you first hear of Birmingham’s interest?” “I’d just finished on the treadmill in full HTAFC gear as the final part of the medical when I got the message. I was dubious at first as it looked like it was from one of those Nigerian Princes but it turned out it was legit.”

Don’t mess about Town, just get it done! I'd imagine town board will be hurt by last transfer saga, and won't (you'd hope) allow to be done again. Birmingham slowly becoming the rivals (Similar to Peterborough) we never planned on having.

Get a signal blocker installed at Canalside and lock the gates until the deal is over the line.
