Considering we sold Rudoni for a reported £5 million and have brought in two free transfers and 2 players at a combined total of less than £1 million we won't be in any rush to sell our main assets. If we could move on some of those fringe players who won't be anywhere near then that would be great. It's their wages not the fee. True, but Rudoni was probably on a slice himself and don't forget all the players who were released/returned from loan. The budget will be there. We probably still need/want to offload some players, but the key thing is we're not desperate to do so. Meaning any deals that come our way for our star players will need to suit all parties involved. My worry is whether this bullishness might cause a player or two to down tools if they want to force a move out. Time will tell if there are any characters that would do that. A promising start nonetheless. Evans looks a baller and I'm liking the idea of a Kasumu, Kane, Evans midfield three. A bit of creativity and goal threat we've missed for a long time.

Got Gary Roberts vibes with this one. If true will be a sound buy. I know he never really stepped up to Champ level and we've had some far better overall players since and before, but he will honestly always be one of my favourite Town players. Anyway, I don't think they're like for like, with Evans being more a CM.

Scored some delightful goals and could cross a ball like steve guppy…played in a really exciting side. Rhodesy the man up front. Pilks on the other side. Peter Clarke at the back. The 4-4 away at hillsborough. Absolutely unforgettable night of football. I got Benno’s glove at the end of the match. He threw it and I caught it in the crowd. Loved Ian the cat Bennett. Had a ridiculously good season that year too. I think tho when we finally got up robbos best days were behind him..

So he never got the chance to step up in blue and white. When he did, with Wigan, he was regarded as having a real Indian summer to his career. I do hope we're right about Evans potentially being a bit of a Gary Roberts. I thought a while ago about Roberts' stats in his time with us and thought he'd got about 80 goal contributions across 4 seasons. I was wrong - it was 92. A goal or an assist every other game. Absolutely bonkers numbers over that period of time at that level.

Can imagine any more incoming linked to who goes out……wonder who else will be on the way out?… Considering we sold Rudoni for a reported £5 million and have brought in two free transfers and 2 players at a combined total of less than £1 million we won't be in any rush to sell our main assets. If we could move on some of those fringe players who won't be anywhere near then that would be great. From an accounting point of view, I wonder if Rudoni’s fee went some way to balancing last season’s outlays. June 30th is the new “mini transfer window”, the end of each football season financially.

Needed to go up at old Trafford..

Early days but thought he looked decent on Sat in a short 45 min period.
I’d take Evans over Rudoni already from what was on show on Sat

What’s funny is when we signed Rudoni and saw him play I thought he’s better than Lewis O Brien we sold for £10m
Turned out not to be case
Then when we signed Evans I thought he’s better than Rudoni
Then as each game goes on …erm maybe not

Thought it since he scored the first goal, done absolutely nothing since and Wiles ain't much better. Hodge, the defensive midfielder looks to have more flair and forward thinking than both of them.

Hope we kept the receipt on this fella. It’s been a while since I’ve ever seen a footballer willingly not want the ball or looking to actually get involved.

Shocked at how poor / anonymous he has been
After watching his youtube highlights he looked like a class above at this level
I've literally seen nothing of quality from him. Literally anonymous in games to put it politely.
Actually shocked at how badly this transfer has gone (so far)
He seemed like the midfielder with a touch of class that we needed. haven't seen a glimpse of it yet. Almost as bad as Wiles if this carries on.

There is a player there. Good shot on him.
Recently has been soft in the tackle / physical aspects which is surprising with coming from this division.
He’s start to have a fairly heavy first touch and gets into trouble shortly afterwards.
I don’t know if it’s a mental thing where he drifts out of games and hardly moves or tactical partnership issue

Does something great and you think "here's a player", then spends 20 mins like he's never kicked a ball..

Not sure what the stats show for his appearances so far but it feels like he is very rarely involved. Doesn't have many touches of the ball and you rarely see him in the right place to winning the ball back.
We haven't even seen him take any decent free kicks yet which seems to be the main reason he was signed

Is it a system change or form?

Yet to be impressed by the fella, saw snippets of him at Rovers, yet has not even got close to that here. He was excellent at Peterborough on opening day. Thought we had a gem and if you'd asked me as I walked away from the ground for my tip for POTS, that's who I'd have picked. I suspect both Wiles & Evans would look better if the other one wasn't on the pitch at the same time. Which is ironic because for me they were both superb at London Road. Put alongside (say) Hodge & Kane & I think he'd come into his own.

Like i say i am yet to be impressed. What i expect standards wise is high this year as Duff has talked about it a lot, yet keeps playing players, who are way below such as Evans.

He's definitely a walking yellow card. Got ability that's for sure, but needs to impose himself on games and sort his consistency out. Maybe having Hodge in there will help improve both Wiles and Evans.

We will never know if Hodge will as you say improve them, as Hogg starts every week when fit come on mate.... I wouldn't be starting Wiles for a while his post match comments for me on Saturday were a disgrace and smack of what is wrong with the club currently or over the last 18 months or so.
