It’s like when everyone thought Mooy was going to come to us, then he went to celtic!

He's just been the starting striker in a team that's qualified for the Champions League, we're in League One. Are you smoking crack?

With one big contract left in him I've heard from sources he's taking some time with his family to think over whether he wants to be appearing at the Bernabeu or the Broadfield Stadium next season.

No thanks, bang average first time around. Not that he's coming, but I assume that is a joke? No it's not a joke, I'm deadly serious. I honestly never rated him and found him quite frustrating to watch, I wouldn't want him back in L1 even if it were a possibility. To be honest I find it weird that he's held in such high esteem by some. He was at best, very average for the level we bought him for and the fee paid. Seemed a really nice guy but slow, poor movement and never really seemed to do much with his aerial prowess. Great song too although not quite as good as Depoitre's

Great song too although not quite as good as Depoitre's Must be on the minority with myself as I never rated him massively.Although I think my perception is largely that we just didn’t ever play to his strengths. Thought he looked sluggish and slow on when the ball went into him in the prem but think prem was above his level. Think he probably is a good striker though we never saw it really, but we were a bad side at the time.Maybe case of wrong time wrong place. I do agree also that not sure why fans hold him in such high esteem. Either way no way he’s coming because if we aren’t paying Alfie mays wages he’s getting at Birmingham we aren’t getting mounie.

You do realise we are 2 leagues below the "level we bought him for" and he has gone on to have a good career at a high level elsewhere.

No better than Ward or Rhodes imo. In fact if you compared their records you'd probably conclude he was worse, much worse. I'm just basing my opinion on what I saw of him at town in the division we just got relegated from. Not seen anything of him since. I honestly don't think it's a ridiculous view point. If he's helped his team get to the champions league good on him but it's largely irrelevant to this discussion.

Shocking!

He just did not get played much by the Cowleys for some strange reason. Are you one of them? 😉 In his 30 appearances in the Championship he scored 8 goals, but he scored a goal every 177 minutes when on the pitch, basically a 1 in 2 striker. Up there with Boothy as the best header of the ball I have seen for Town.

There's a reason he went back to France. Not a sniff of interest from championship clubs which if he was as good as some seem to think, there would have been. Anyway thankfully he's not coming back so a pointless discussion really!

He didn't get played much cos we had no money (thanks DH and PH) and we wanted to save on his match/goal bonuses and get his wages off the books asap. Do you really think a bloke who scored 1 in 2 at that level and has just played in a team thats qualified for the CL in a league better than the championship, was being kept out of the side by not one of our own Fraizer fucking Campbell for footballing reasons? Campbell scored 10 in 92 games...

Mounie has his weaknesses, but christ he’d tear up League One with decent service.

Probably didn't get paid much cos his contract will have had appearance fees and bonuses baked in that we could no longer afford. I very much doubt it was for tactical reasons, given that our striking options that season were him, Colin Qauner, Kachunga and Frazier Campbell.

Couldn’t run. Couldn’t strike a ball. He didn’t lead the line well. He didn’t hold it up well, or at all. The only thing he was good at was heading it from crosses - which after Selhurst park we never crossed it again. It got in behind again. Seemed a nice genuine guy but as a player he was shite. Whoever watched him and said yes Dean £10m is a great deal has no fucking clue about football.

Come off it.. when we signed Mounie he’d won the most aerial battles across all of the top 5 European leagues.. I’m convinced some people watch football with their eyes closed

Rhodes was fab for us in his first spell, but I've only ever really seen him as a finisher. Mounie is not a complete forward either, but he's clearly a technical level or two above Rhodes. He played for us in the Premier League, scored some impressive goals, and has just helped an unfancied side with a low budget qualify for the Champions League in a European top 5 league.
