Important to take on board what manager said.Looked leggy after the pressing sessions and training morning before the game.Think people, myself included, can get caught up maybe looking too much into specific performances in pre season. The first 11 started leggy but I felt they came through it and got through that, the second 11 not as much.Think was interesting he said worked on two different types of press. There seemed to be a change for the first 11 that 15 minutes they played of the second half…much higher press. Would imagine a rest day today then who knows, maybe followed by possibly a double session again Wedneday. With Berlin likely to be better again maybe no physical training before that game instead working on more tactical stuff?Just thinking out loud I guess. Main thing is like he said it’s minutes in legs,no injuries after tough sessions and for what it’s worth on a noticeably heavy pitch, very soft it looked. I think in 3 weeks time the players will look a lot lot sharper with the workload that’s going into them. All the above said,I’d still be after the 3/4 players mentioned previous, left sided cb,defensive mid, striker.Pace and comfortable on ball being the attributes looking for. Quite possibly.

*Your Dad. For what it's worth, I wasn't the one that brought up schooling 😂😂😂 Start an argument in an empty room you lad . Maybe just walk away now and again . TBF all he did was say Limassol (even if it was the wrong one) weren't exactly football giants. The other guy started the comebacks.

Hertha Berlin are playing against Cardiff two hours after our match with them finishes so I would assume their energy levels will be conserved in our game. My assumption would be they'll play 2 different starting elevens in those games

Some people really don't understand ore season friendlies. After a double training session, that was a very good performance. None of the players tonight will have been at 100% in mind or body after double training. It's all about getting leggy and becoming fitter and sharper through that. We played a team who competed in Europe last season and were close to actually getting into the CL. The goals conceded, Ruffels too slow tracking to the runner and then at fault for the 2nd with the lunge. That already showed the tiredness due to the sessions earlier in the day. No doubt the performance will be similar on Thursday against Hertha Berlin. Lecce will be the one where I am expecting to see the hard work slowly paying off and the players looking sharper and more agile. The scoreline means nothing in these games. Pre-season games mean nothing anyway, they're training games. They meant nothing last season either, despite some people trying to pin the blame of the relegation on those pre-season games... Agree 100%, couple of seasons ago we lost a friendly at Fleetwood, we were as good as already relegated if you believed the meltdown on here, that season we finished third!

Does anyone know how we got on in the pre-season friendlies for the Wagner promotion season and Corberan playoff final season?
Genuinely can’t remember and can’t seem to find it, would be interesting to see.

Anybody know what time the training sessions are today, and where? Came down for the Hertha game with my girlfriend and her daughter for a few days from Leipzig, so would like to take in a couple of training sessions, too. Any info much appreciated

Bundesliga 2 season starts on 3rd August so I would expect Hertha to field a strong line up in one of those games, Town will continue to chop & change in this fixture with a view to getting nearer to the Peterborough starting team against US Lecce (season starts 18/8) & Sheff Utd......Transfer deadline day is Friday 30th August @11pm & until that time passes we will not know just who stays & who doesn't, the uncertainty makes MD's task slightly more difficult on top of the setback of losing Balker & missing out on AM.

This over-interest perhaps in pre-season friendlies has come along with the internet age I guess. Now everythings analysed within an inch of its life and becomes so much more important than it used to be. Back in the days of Buxton, right up to the turn of the century I dont remember pre-season friendlies being anything to be bothered about at all. Just getting fitness levels up and working on a few tactical things. Did anyone even go to them? Actually I can remember nagging my dad to take me to one back in the early 80s against Barnsley at Leeds road. I doubt there was more than 300 people in there though.

I can see 4/5 players currently in Austria leaving, we're already 4/5 players short of having a decent squad before they leave. Still loads of work to do.

Has anyone managed to buy a match pass for these games yet or is it just my computer that says "No"? I went on yesterday to try and buy a stream of some sort, and turns out it's restricted to just the UK (and USA bizarrely). Won't allow me in Ireland to watch the games

Ah, ok - cheers for that. Will just be the Hertha game for us, then. See you there! Not that I'll know who you are!! Aye, gladly meet up there. We're going to try and get there for around midday. I'll be wearing a green/gold shirt that wouldnt be out of place at an Aussie rugby league game, and my girlfriend is and looks Mexican. So could be easy enough to spot if there's a low crowd. Otherwise, let us know which café you're in on the day and we'll come and join you.

Oh aye, you can tell she's Mexican :-)

They take the p*** out of the stereotypical Mexican amongst others. Worth a watch. Edit. It is called Awkward Puppets.

Does anyone remember the Yorkshire and Humberside pre season cup that we used to play in?. I seem to remember watching it in the late 80s. I think they had a group stage and then a knockout part (can't remember the exact format or how many teams entered). I'm sure I remember us playing Leeds in 1 of them that I attended. They should bring it back. At least it's something to play for against some local rivals.
