Nearly all those listed are likely to be on the bench Nicholls will be first choice ahead of Maxwell Defence will likely be Helik, Pearson and Spencer. Ward will be third or fourth choice behind Healey and the new striker/s that sign I don't think Nicholls has started a pre season game yet has he? Certainly not the vibe I'm getting. Still think we need a few more though Nichols has played though, maybe its because Duff knows what he is getting from Lee ? I just find it strange to take him if he leaving and its certain .

Who the fuck are AEL Limassol? Hardly footballing giants are they? Neither are Huddersfield Town anymore.

Thought we'd learn from our mistakes and have the bulk of our squad together for the trip to Austria. An aggressive transfer window like our fellow relegated clubs was what we needed, yet we've got the same shit, ageing defence, relying on Hogg to anchor the midfield, no proper striker to play alongside Healey and not much depth when injuries start biting again. We're 3 weeks from the start of the season but still have exactly the same issues. Miles away from a competitive team.

Still think we need a few more though Nicholls started at Harrogate. If we sell him we'll need to sign another keeper because Maxwell isn't good enough to play every week.

Who the fuck are AEL Limassol? Hardly footballing giants are they? There may be a slither of middle ground between thinking they're footballing giants and some believing they're part time. Didn't see the game but just checked their team and they had Kokorin playing for them who I remember being one of Russias best players. Part time 😂

Maybe recall Phillips, he could be healeys partner. Banging them in in Sacramento 👀

If Duff is ok with the workout and how his ideas were played out, then its a successful friendly.. If players did a double training session and covered enough ground in the game, then its a success. If we are still looking for 2 or 3 starters, then the most anyone saw was 2/3 of the league starting 11. The opposition have a fairly high profile game shortly so should be closer to starting proper games than us. Roll on the end of friendlies..

Who the fuck are AEL Limassol? Hardly footballing giants are they? FFS, I wish you'd have said sooner. I've just stuck £20 on them to win the Champions League. Can just see a postman for AEL Limassol bagging one in last minute past Ederson.

Ffs we're now discussing two different clubs haha. There's 2 clubs in Limassol apparently - Aris (who we played) and AEL. My Cypriot football knowledge is now at an all time high.
Anyway, looking forward to the game against Union Berlin

Crikey, anyone would think we'd just made our customary exit in the first round (that we play in) of the league cup, to a team a tier or two below us. Some encouraging moments, some good performances, some mishaps, a bunch of players not yet up to speed and a squad that's probably going to get a couple of new additions...in a game that didn't matter a jot. Best not the white flag yet, chaps.

Not for me to say which is part time, which is the footballing giant, and which is the middle ground, but Aris are the ones that are currently boiling the others' piss having been bankrolled to the top by a shadowy Belarusian 'oligarch'.

Who the fuck are AEL Limassol? Hardly footballing giants are they? Don't know about AEL, but the team we played was Aris Limassol who took four points off group winners Rangers in last season's Europa League. They might not be world beaters but they were better than a lot of the L1 sides we'll be playing next season.

Well Limassol will most likely be very aware that they are playing one of the giants of the English first division

This can't be aimed at the team town just played. Google is a great thing to find out that they are very much not part time. Part time and making a decent fist of the Europa League would be some going. I'm assuming it is some sort of joke which we have missed A certain poster will be on telling us they are the equivalent of Shrewsbury next... and of course Nantes.

Doesn’t change the fact they are still a part time team though which was the question asked They aren't. The Wikipedia page in question was edited earlier this afternoon from an IP address originating somewhere in the UK. Previous to that, Wikipedia very clearly stated that Aris Limassol are a professional team, and had done since time immemorial. They are a full-time professional football club, as the most cursory Google shows. They are a decent side. Probably top-end Championship. A good test against internationals and players used to winning. Duff will have learned a lot from the game. My apologies, Wikipedia lied to me earlier

Interesting post match interview. He's not happy! As he says plenty of room and time for improvement though! I like his attitude. Feels like he understands some of the reasons for the poor performance but he's far from happy about it or accepting of it.

Important to take on board what manager said.Looked leggy after the pressing sessions and training morning before the game.Think people, myself included, can get caught up maybe looking too much into specific performances in pre season. The first 11 started leggy but I felt they came through it and got through that, the second 11 not as much.Think was interesting he said worked on two different types of press. There seemed to be a change for the first 11 that 15 minutes they played of the second half…much higher press. Would imagine a rest day today then who knows, maybe followed by possibly a double session again Wedneday. With Berlin likely to be better again maybe no physical training before that game instead working on more tactical stuff?Just thinking out loud I guess. Main thing is like he said it’s minutes in legs,no injuries after tough sessions and for what it’s worth on a noticeably heavy pitch, very soft it looked. I think in 3 weeks time the players will look a lot lot sharper with the workload that’s going into them. All the above said,I’d still be after the 3/4 players mentioned previous, left sided cb,defensive mid, striker.Pace and comfortable on ball being the attributes looking for.

Hertha Berlin are playing against Cardiff two hours after our match with them finishes so I would assume their energy levels will be conserved in our game.
