Second half somewhat flat, but that's an improvement on last season when it tended to be depressing. No idea what the pen was for. Onwards and upwards. UTT

Good win but that 2nd half was poor. The back 3 looked like they'd never played together, none of the subs improved the team after they came on and we were lucky not to concede more. 1st half we looked a decent championship side. 2nd half we looked at best a mid table league 1 side.

Good first half but quite an awful 2nd half. Wiles’ goal was a belter though and Sorenson was quite rightly man of the match.

Second half somewhat flat, but that's an improvement on last season when it tended to be depressing. No idea what the pen was for. Onwards and upwards. UTT Grabbing around the waist. Happens all the times in games, corners, free kicks. Ref just decided was enough, and called it. Sucks to be called against us, when it happens in every game for every team across the entire country. But, in reality, it's hard to argue against it probably being a foul. Issue is ref had some really weird calls all game, and probably the only ref in the country to give that as a pen. We invited the pressure playing to their strengths, when we went direct. They're a decent, strong and physical team.

Yup, correct. Conceding that penalty and the lack of concentration cost us on goal difference. I'm sure Duff will address that aggressively with the players. What penalty 🤣 How can you address a ref who cheats abs or has a brain fart there was no offence committed to warrant a foul abs the resulting pen so Duff can’t address that but he can address the lack of concentration last third of the game but all in all it wasn’t a bad win

Disappointing second half bar the goal. Lost our composure, our passing wasnt as good, and we let a very poor Stevenage side in on a few occasions. Away at Peterborough we looked so much more assured when we were ahead and gave them absolutely nothing. 3 points though, the result is all that matters. Must get a striker and another centre half in though in my opinion this week.

Not a clue what that penalty was about. Referee lost his head there He was making shit up. Honestly think he couldn’t see and was just guessing at most decisions today. Was awful.

I will add that it's not Spencer fault, as he is put in the LCB role. But, he does look uncomfortable playing the ball with his left, he struggles adjusting his feet, which when we do have the ball slows us down a bit with the fluidity on spreading the ball a bit quicker.
Is Tom Lees completely uncomfortable playing LCB, and having Spencer RCB?

I think the only complaint is the lack of consistency as it does happen all the time and we have never had one for so little contact. Refs create their own problems by being a bit random at times

Great first half, second half not as much but so what? We've won. We'd have collapsed last season and ended up losing that, so that shows the improvement under Duff.

Duff will have address us im sure about lack of composure, playing more direct, not dealing with their physicality, looking rushed and lack of concentration.

Fortunate to get the 3 points, Stevenage should have scored a couple just after HT. Good start to the season though. We need a left footed centre half badly, poor Spencer looked all at sea out there.

Early days, Peterborough won 4 -1 away today. It'll take a few more games until we know our true position. But we're doing ok, can't grumble at 3 wins and only conceding a dubious pen

Got to give them credit for changing their approach, we didn't handle it. Someone called it after about 5 minutes: our passing was off pretty much all game.

3 points and not the slickest performance.I’d say more down to the opposition game plan and the officials than anything else. They constantly fouled, broke the game up,dived and didn’t entertain having the ball. That’s their prerogative. We’ve got the result so it doesn’t matter. Two good goals. The officials however….holy Jesus Christ…absolutely fuckin horrendous!!!The liner on the kilner bank side missed absolutely everything the ref seemingly fell for every dive or time they went down easy and dished cards out for god knows what, the penalty I have no words….it’s out of the way though and 3 points so we move on.

To be fair I said exactly the same about the officials today, that it looked like they were guessing so many decisions. Nothing was ever decisive, a couple of the offsides looked completely wrong, the Nicholls yellow card was a joke if you compare it to how long they took over goal kicks and throw ins in the first half especially. Even Duff was pointing to his watch in frustration, yet he chooses to book Nicholls. The penalty he gives, I mean, no way we get that at the other end. We have already had at least 2 clearer ones turned down before today. People thinking because we are a bigger fish in League 1 we might get more 50/50 decision, might want to reconsider, cus we wont get anything.

You fail to point out the chances we also failed to take I think it was a deserved victory and Im our harshest critic at times , o think people are expecting the teams to be of a decent standard but there’s a massive drop off from prem to championship abs likewise an arguably bigger drop off on standard to the league one shitsters

Must get a striker and another centre half in though in my opinion this week. Stevenage boosted their midfield 2nd half, and our subs weakened us....we lost the midfield so we went long...which basically just gave them the ball back.. then we ran out of ideas... Our bench isn't strong enough, we got away with it today, but we can't just collapse like that. Duff will know, and at least it didn't cost us..but Nagle will no doubt be reminded that our transfer business needs to deliver this next week or so...no bad thing he witnessed that.

I am now begging for a striker. Ward and Harratt should be now where near the team Agreed, it's what we need. Before the season I believed Ward might turn up at this level and bag a few, he doesn't have the ability or fitness anymore. We need a striker, hope we're chasing one.

A very poorly officiated game. Stevenage are a physical, somewhat cynical, direct team who showed in the second half they can play a bit. I thought we just about deserved the win but that game highlights in particular our defensive weaknesses. Spencer needs to be on the right of the 3 and we need some more pace at the back. I thought the 2 subs that came on were the right ones but personally I thought it would have been Hogg and Ward to go off. I thought we played into their hands in the second half and we adopted their style of play, which simply didn't suit us.
2 really good goals though, 3 points, and glad of the win, obviously.

After so long without winning regularly, to complain that our third win in a week lacked a little in style is a bit rich! Against a physical side to whom football was anathema, who were masters of the sly foul and pull and block, it wasn’t going to be pretty.
But a win is a win. Two great goals. Missed chances for more, particularly in the first half. Only conceding a dubious penalty. Six points from six, and others already playing catch-up.
I have to say the officials were absolutely atrocious. They did their level best to give Stevenage everything they could. Missed every off-the-ball pull and block, but pulled us up for everything. The instant we got tight, free-kick. No booking for their keeper time-wasting at 0-0, but Nicholls booked a matter of 5 seconds after he blew to restart play. Penalty for them for a pull, but nothing for them having two arms round ours constantly, the rugby tackles, the lot.
Still, a win. There’s going to be plenty of games like that.
