Comfortable yet again We haven't needed to get out of first gear yet I will maintain my prediction we will almost be promoted by xmas . Nobody ever got promoted at Xmas. We have played 2 games and won one convincingly and today should have won convincingly but made hard work of it in the end. Long long way to go yet.

Great to get the 3 points but that was a poor second half. If their striker could hit a cows arse with a banjo it should have been 1-1. We were outplayed and bullied that second half.
Duff made far too many subs. It killed the game for us and we had no cohesion.
We need another quality striker pronto and if possible another DM and LCB.
To finish on a positive it's great to see the new Ben Wiles and Sorensen looks absolute quality.

Brilliant to hear Duff speak with such an elite mentality after the game. Said he gave them a bit of a bollocking after the game (could you imagine how well Thomas would have take a bollocking after a win LOL)
Shite for most of that second half but if we can consistently play like we did in the first half we’ll finish very highly. 6 points from 2 - difficult to complain too much! UTT

After so long without winning regularly, to complain that our third win in a week lacked a little in style is a bit rich! Against a physical side to whom football was anathema, who were masters of the sly foul and pull and block, it wasn’t going to be pretty. But a win is a win. Two great goals. Missed chances for more, particularly in the first half. Only conceding a dubious penalty. Six points from six, and others already playing catch-up. I have to say the officials were absolutely atrocious. They did their level best to give Stevenage everything they could. Missed every off-the-ball pull and block, but pulled us up for everything. The instant we got tight, free-kick. No booking for their keeper time-wasting at 0-0, but Nicholls booked a matter of 5 seconds after he blew to restart play. Penalty for them for a pull, but nothing for them having two arms round ours constantly, the rugby tackles, the lot. Still, a win. There’s going to be plenty of games like that. The ref didn't blow to start play, he blew to warn Nicholls to get a move on. He didn't. He was cautioned.

Watching the game with the wife who's reading a book and listening in. She turned around and said that she'd never heard me utter a certain word whilst watching Huddersfield Town. "What's that", I said. "Superb", she says (after one exquisite Sorensen pass).

So much to like.
However, Stevenage were much better than us in the second half.
Sorensen superb again. Just give him the ball more.
Ward - non existent.
Need that pacy striker quickly. A young pacy centre back on loan till Xmas would t be a bad idea. Our lack of pace exposed in the second half.
I expect Turton,Ruffels, Pearson (can’t see him being happy on the bench this age) - all to leave.

Thought we were poor that second half. Could have easily lost that. It was just luck that they wasted so many decent chances. Late penalty was frustrating but a win is a win. 3/3.

We desperately need a big striker, and a left centre back.Every team in this league has giant defenders.Ward and Harrett are ineffective.

We've won three games this season, we only won nine last season.
Perspective is needed, I think.

Nah it was all part of the plan according to Donny Terrier. Every team we play will miss those chances so no need to worry about the defence being carved wide open 3 times

It’s such early days and we are adjusting to a new league. The first few weeks are like shadow boxing and you start to get a clearer picture come September. It’s just so good to get points in the board early as I think momentum could be our friend.

Fortunate to get the 3 points, Stevenage should have scored a couple just after HT. Good start to the season though. We need a left footed centre half badly, poor Spencer looked all at sea out there. When will people realise FFS. Two good chances for Stevenage in the second half, but if they'd scored the first, the way time changes means that they wouldn't have had the second. Just think about it. Similar to Town's non-penalties v the Florists.

Whilst we may have had some fortune we have beaten two teams who were near the top last season and so maybe we need to just enjoy it a bit more. We have had plenty of bad luck at times and we play well in spells, better than most in the division, so the longer we can do that the better it will be come the business end of the season

Michael Duff is first Town manager to win his first three games in charge since Tom Johnston in the 1975-76 season.
Let that one sink in.

Anyone have a fucking clue why the pen was given? Spencer was holding him. Happens all the time and should always be a penalty but hardly ever given

Nobody knows where particular teams will be after 15 or so games, we might look back on this narrow win and think thats as a good three points v Stevenage if they're up there sniffing round the top six, they might not be of course, but we just dont know. Admittedly not a great second half but we did enough overall.

God I'd forgotten how bad League One refs were.
Overall, a comfortable win. Stevenage's chances were of our own making, just need to tidy up play at the back, a more competent team would have made us pay for those mistakes.
Overall, positive game and I was glad to be back watching a live game, it's been a while since I was last able to go.

First half decent neough, second half very complacent.
The two times they got through, before we scored the second was so bad.
Its ok taking your foot off/ controlling the game, but we just got very sloppy and even in league 1, teams wont roll over and die. It needs looking at does that second half.

To go with the lucky win last Saturday. Peterborough didn't miss a gobber that changes the game, like I said lucky but will take it We'd have been 3-0 up if Ward hadn't missed a gobber, so it's swings and roundabouts.
