Peter Reid was offered the player-coach role at Town in the 1990s by Graham Leslie at a party (according to his recently released, and quite frankly wild, autobiography) so there's another link.

Many moons ago when we were playing Bolton away at Burnden Park (maybe the pissing off the floodlights game) I saw a Bolton fan with the best football t shirt on. It had the title’The Meaning of Life’ and then the following:
B - Beer
W - Women
F - Football
C - Curry
It covers every essential part of life, doesn’t it? 😂

That would be the Bolton side that big Frank scored that fantastic goal for (against Ipswich I think) that can be seen on re-runs of the Big Match (revisited).
The days of football highlight only TV, quagmire pitches, unfit referees, proper challenges (none of this free-kick for being breathed on) and umbro kits that gave you a skin irritation.
Happy memories of my schooldays and probably about 18 months before I first saw Town.

I had a quick look to see who was in the team when Burke made his debut on 1st Sept 1978, it was a game home against Birmingham City & finished 2-2 with Frankie & Trevor Francis both netting twice.......Sam Allardyce received a straight red, not sure if he was protecting young David, but if he was history would repeat itself later at Town. |

A sweet Frankie volley straight past the England keeper Shilton just shown on BMR for Brum on a snow covered pitch at City Ground, he didn't do too many tap ins......Back to the photo who is the guy next to GM?. Bit of a Terry Dolan lookalike, but not him.
