Just re-watched the highlights and it could quite easily have been 4-0 or 4-2 or 0-2 đ some great chances went begging

I think listening to duffs two interviews and Tom leesâ(who always got me speaks a lot of sense) itâs clear that from a professional side of things, not a fans, that they were happy with the win.Was stressed a fair amount how difficult it is to play against a very low block. So as fans we do probably have to take that into account,it looks a bit laboured at times etc but other than them hitting the bar they offered little. We should have scored at least 2 more and I think boring or not if we win 3-0 the fan perspective is probably very very different. Some much tougher(on paper) tests coming up so letâs see how we perform in those games.Like duff said the one game where a team has come at us and left space we looked much better to the eye,Rotherham and Bolton away will provide those kinds of games. 9 points from 9 really shouldnât be sniffed at no matter who the opposition.

Hogg is a huge problem. We have wiles and Evans who are more capable of forward play being stuck off the center so not being available for the ball form the center backs. Hogg does not move whatsoever so is never an option. Club legend but too limited now even for this league. Therefore the centre backs pass it aimlessly between themselves or to the wingers or lump it. Very little goes through the middle as there are no options. No one wanting to receive the ball. Drop Hogg, stick Evans and wiles as center pairs and let one go and one stay when attacking. More options thru the middle. There was a gap as wide as the grand canyon yesterday between the back four and front two. âBack fourâ? Just an expression...meant defence

Just an expression...meant defence To be fair, it was a back four. Lees, Helik and Spencer, with Hogg stood about a yard in front of the three of them đđ¤Ł.

Simple answer from me, sort out plan b and we will get promotion quite easily, Wagner was a master at this.

Credit to Shrewsbury, they were better than I was expecting and had a few good chances, some were down to our own sloppiness though. We got another win with another clean sheet even though we were far from our best, which is a good sign. We could have made things a bit more comfortable for ourselves by putting some of our glaring chances away though.
Still definitely plenty for Duff to work on, but 4 wins from 4 is a cracking start. Hopefully we can get a couple of quality additions this week to give Duff all the tools he needs to sustain an automatic push, particularly now the injuries are starting to bite.

Think also if I think about it more and more specifically.Shrewsbury did press early doors and got a little bit of joy without too much.we then worked into the game and took advantage and thatâs the period when we started to get on top with miller etc, should have scored with the header and then eventually did, then they changed and decided to let lees and Spencer have it and sit deeper,it sured it up for them but made life much more difficult for us and killed the game spectacle wise. Anyway as said 9 from 9

Quick mention for the referee Tom Reeves on his 1st visit to JSS, I thought he did ok & got the majority of the decisions correct so well done, make sure he gets the posh biscuits in the refs changing room on his next visit......On duty at Oakwell this Tuesday for the cup tie & with 5000 Blades fans there too it could be quite feisty, good luck.

I watched the Stockport game to see what the real opposition is likely to be.From the highlights of our games{previous to Shrewsbury},I thought Town were better than both. However going on the majority of comments on this thread our standards dropped yesterday.Sky sport results show yesterday never had a representative at our last 2 games {or if they had Stelling,s inferior replacement host never went to them} so I never got any feedback on our performance, apart from when we {relegated Huddersfield}scored,so until I see the highlights I cannot comment, other than it is obvious where we need to strengthen. However after watching the Nagle interview on another thread the other day,I thought I detected a slight pull back on the previously stated aim of promotion, and so am not expecting much on the signings front.

Yep, i mentioned in another post it was a lot tougher than many expected, although they didnt create an awful lot they were always in it (always are at 1-0)/ if that effort had gone in that hit the bar just after we'd scored who knows how things might have turned out, we got a slice of luck and although we could have scored more ourselves i was quite happy at the final whistle.

Went to most of the away games that season including those two whilst serving in the Army based down south. Seem to remember us wimnning at Doncaster after losing at the shay Halifax which was also the speedway . Remember that Kindon pen at pompey and him showboating with their fans after scoring We drove home in thick fog and worst i have ever seen. Also massive fight broke out when pompey fans in our end Aye, they were like space invaders with crash helmets on lol. I went to game with a Pompey fan from our unit that night, we went our separate ways at the entrance but met up again on that open terrace. Laughed about it even during the scrap. I forgot about the fog that night but it was a real peasouper all the way back to Netheravon.

Spot on that. We looked out of ideas at times, because there's not a great deal of options open to you if the opposition has at least 9 behind the ball whenever we were in their half. Fair play to Shrewsbury they were better than their previous results suggested they'd be, and executed their game plan quite well. Starting to feel like the last playoff season a bit. Always finding a way to win and getting our rub of the green for a change, without being spectacular (yet).

Always finding a way to win and getting our rub of the green for a change, without being spectacular (yet). Think we might end up seeing us look like weâre playing better or more attractively against some of the better sides of whoâs approach will not be to stop us but to win the game by implementing their plan. The poorer teams that maybe play with a certain philosophy and donât adjust it to nullify our preferred game plan we may also have some joy against. I do like youâre point about weâre at present getting the rub of the green or finding a way to win or both.Yesterday is a prime exampleâŚit could have been 1-1 quite easily but by the same token we could have run out 3-0 winners and it looked very comfortable. Also weâre very much a work in progress under a new manager so youâd imagine it would get more cohesive as we go along. Also something to factor in as we get into winter will be in this league the weather and the pitches, not all will hold up to it and it could become attritional stuff at times. All food for thought I guess!

I think we should be more patient and more measured in our criticisms. The club has a new manager & coaching team & a partially rebuilt squad adapting to a new style of play & playing patterns whilst trying to move on from a deeply embedded culture of fear & inferiority - whilst the last 2 games haven't been top notch they've been light years from Moore & Breitenreiter who always seemed beaten before they started. 4 competitive games into a new season we've won 4 on the bounce.

I don't think anyone has been particularly scathing of the team. I just see some glaringly obvious holes that need to be filled. It's been a cracking start to the season though

Well said. I think too many people are expecting us to rock up and win by 3+ every week. The important thing is winning, if that stops then we have a problem, but we're 4 games, 4 wins. Something is working.

Glad to read the result though not had chance to read the thread. Day 1 of a 2 week break on a Greek island for me and partner so will only be dipping in occasionally. Another 3 points, clean sheet and momentum kept up. Pleased for all involved on and off field.

They played well but lets face it we gave them a big hand in doing so. We can't and wont always play well so you will take a win but there are far harder games to come and play like that again!! it will be a tough season. I was shocked yesterday that some players were just so poor.

As for an equivalent at this level could you name one? I'm not being arsey with you it just seems like pointless conjecture.
