We're improving. If we're getting 'there' where is 'there'? We looked resilient last night, which is a good improvement. We lacked ambition, belief and quality going forward. I'm hoping that's down to confidence, and instructions to play with the handbrake on (which will be taken off) but I fear it's having players without the technical quality or the fighting character in forward positions. I can see us having enough for top 6 but the aim has got to be that second automatic spot. I thought we looked a better team than Wrexham, with to get better - at least 1 or 2 levels we can hopefully get to in our forward play. But I can see them bullying a fair few teams with their style as it's a poor league this year - I can see them keeping their momentum up. Are we going to be able to catch them? Can we go on wins of 6/7 games? The jury is very much out for me. Think 100% on your assessment of Wrexham, their relentless style will mean teams just get overwhelmed by them, especially at their ground. I think we are starting to look much more of a team and though we are still working towards a more fluent attacking approach I think in general we’ve been creating enough chances to win games and the old xg kind of backs that up.Last night probably less so.I’m just glad to see us look more of a team the last few games,be that looking dominant in the home games or like last night been solid under pressure defensively and working it out and coming good(better) second half. I do believe if we stick to what we’re doing now that we will improve and the better attacking stuff will be to come.As I mentioned on another thread the standard in general isn’t great and I do feel we’ve a couple more gears to go up. Autos, based on what iv seen from other sides has to be the target.

We're a top end L1 team and would be amazed if we didn't finish at least top 6 but I think we just lack the one or two players of real quality going forward who would make a difference in tight games like last night. The kind who if we didn't go up you know would be instantly picked up by championship clubs.

I think we will ultimately fall short of 2nd because of this. I think the injuries have killed us to an extent. Constantly having to chop and change. Hopefully with Kane getting fitter, he'll impact games more and really unpick defences.

They're seemingly ready to pay out on Birmingham as Champions - 1/16 - but for 2nd place they have Wrexham, Bolton and Town all between 7/4 and 5/2, with William Hill offering all three at 9/4, 6/1 bar.

I didn't get that from the highlights; looked like we had the most AND best chances in the game. I thought we were (just) the better team over 90 minutes last night. However I don't believe we were anywhere near "Good". If those were two of the best six teams in the league it indicates to me just how poor this league is I'm afraid.

I'm sure money will be available in January but do you trust us to sign the right players? Not exactly got a stellar recent history.

Presumably a good sporting director will have already identified where we need strengthening, know their targets, know what it will take to get them, know their history, what makes them tick and then go out and get the business done.... Is that mark cartwright?

I thought it was actually a good away performance. Soak up any early pressure whilst hitting them on the break then second half play on the front foot a bit more. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a great performance by any means (from both teams) but it was definitely a good away performance imo 1 shot on target from them suggests at the very least it was a good defensive performance?
