I don't know whether this has been mentioned already but from X "Steven Fletcher missed out tonight due to a knee injury. Phil Parkinson: "Fletch is a real problem, a real blow for us. It flared up over the weekend." No timescale as yet but admits #WxmAFC may have to dip into the free agent market with Jack Marriott out for four months."

Just been reading the report from the Wrexham news on last night's game, fuck me the entitlement of this lot is unbelievable. They were crap we sat back and only came to get a point and they were fully expected to get the 3 points,I really hope they go on a bad run that puts them down the table then hopefully we won't have to listen to anymore about Wrexham and there Billy big bollocks owners ffs.🤞

From what I've seen, Pearson has been our stand out defender this season. My brother and I have similar views on Helik, he's overrated. His goals for us, cover his defensive cracks. I hope he comes back from injury stronger and cuts out the individual errors. Given he might actually have a midfield infront of him, it might make a difference when he's fit. Ultimately he's been relegated from the championship twice, maybe there wouldn't be a clamour for his signature? I know many think we should play from back to front and play more 'football' but we have done better by clearing the bloody thing from further up the pitch and chasing it down. Pearson clears the ball, Lees clears the ball, Turton clears it. No idea what Nigel was up to at times last night, looked like he was playing five a side on a tuesday night with his mates on occasions.. He lacks urgency and the ability to head the ball forward as far as i can tell.. He is the centre back that is being targetted for pressing, it needs sorting. The longer, higher stuff forward from Wrexham was aimed at him, he headed a few under no pressure weakly, straight to their midfield runners.. Many dont rate Pearson or Lees but their headers go further and higher, its defending..

Dare I say it, but the defence looks better without Helik. Can't say that you will get vilified I've said often he is vastly over rated by some and struggles in a 3, his goal scoring masked a lot last year.

Went last night. The football was exactly what I expected a typical narrow pitch with Wrexham playing a very physical up and at em type game they have a good wing back who I think came from non league who was given mom and will deffo play at a higher level with or without Wrexham. Palmer plays a good roll in flick ons and keeping the ball upfield. We were solid and deffo a better footballing side but lacking in any punch up front , overall a fair result . The stadium was shocking I’ve been before a long time ago and maybe the old knocked down kop before behind the goal gave the stadium a better feel, but was quite shocked to say they have spent a fair bit doing it up how poor it was . If they have ambitions to rise up the leagues it needs knocking down and starting again . Parking was terrible as well for only 13000 and getting away was horrendous. Think both teams will be close to promotion this year. Town are slowly getting there and if we sign the expected striker in jan. we may just steal 2nd.

Since Helik got injured, 2 goals conceded in 5 games definitely backs this up Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think a bigger factor is potentially Nicholls. He's probably a better goalkeeper in terms of his presence in the box (by a big margin - JC is like a spare part at most corners), and his shot stopping (although not really seen JC face many shots to save yet)...BUT.... JC seems to be much more aware of his abilities and those of the players around him. He plays the short stuff, but he is much more decisive about the option to just put a foot through it, where Nicholls creates a handful of spells of pressure on our defence multiple times in every game by passing to players who are tightly marked, or pretty much giving away any ball that is dinked 30-50metres...JC's seems much more aware and capable of those killer passes. Thats where the game is decided, 30metre whipped pass from a keeper to be cleanly received, shifting the ball and stretching an opposition to react, NOT a 5metre pass and then another 5metre pass, and not a 50-60metre punt that is always received under pressure or with technical challenge of it being in the air. He's starting goal scoring chances pretty much every game. I agree. Nichols is a good keeper but he does slow it down so often. Chapman seems to have a good awareness of when to play out quickly. The amid times we have players running clear but Nichols never plays them in. Great ball from chapman for the second goal on Saturday.

He’s a bit smaller than most keepers, but it doesn’t seem to phase him and he seems to judge the flight of the ball really well. He sweeps behind the defence really well allowing for a high line and is very capable with the ball at his feet. Lad has grabbed his chance and I hope we persist with him if he’s playing good football. I hope the manager backs him and it’s now his spot to lose.

I'm very pleased with the point, which we thoroughly deserved.
Town getting a lot of harsh criticism first half on here, IMO. We had to calm them down, ensure we were very tight first half & we limited a free scoring side to 1 shot on target. We were, for sure, poor in possession but we defended really well.
2nd half we started to play & were the better team. They are very much over-rated, they're a bunch of cloggers who want to get the ball into the box as quick as possible for some rugby league forwards. Forget the hype League 1, they are a limited side, nothing to be afraid of. I'd like to see them lose 2 or 3 in a row as I feel they are getting by so far on reputation & the the fact they are used to winning.
I expect us both to be top 6 at the end though.

But don't you think (some of) our fans and local media would be the same? I do, it's just the nature of "the world of celebrity" unfortunately.

No way He's been really impressive though. Bilokapic seems to be bench fodder now for Posh after starting last season as number 1, be interesting to see where his career develops - seems as though Chapman was less well regarded but has the chance to establish his career now.

I think you're wrong on Radulovic, he's not crap, he actually played ok, he's getting no service. The problem we have is the strikers have to feed off scraps and create their own chances. I don't think he fits the style we play. If we were raining crosses down on the oppositions box, he'd probably be OK, but we aren't, we can't beat the 1st man on most occasions and the one time we did cross it in he was on the end if it, heading narrowly wide. Think you're being kind with the narrowly wide comment. It was a very poor attempt, miles wide Yes side angle looked a lot closer than it actually was which was as stated miles wide.

If you look at their board, they were very complimentary of town and praised our performance. A lot said they don't feel they will see a better more organised team at their place this season.

Positives for me were Chapman plus the fact that Pearson and Lees both looked really solid and dealt with Palmer and Mullin easily. Some of us never doubted their quality, especially at L1 level Slightly worrying that we failed to really break down their defence and create stuff. They've done great but at the end of the day their defence and midfield consisted of players who could be classed as lower leagues journey men and they had a relatively easy night of it. I'm hoping Duff can slowly but surely improve our quality going forward and at chance creation. Turton had a great game as usual but for me, if you're playing a right back as a wing back you're going to be losing creativity down that side. Kane disappointing, not entirely sure whether it's the player or the way he sets up that midfield three. Just never looks quite right although we do at least seem to have dispensed with the massive gaping chasm in the middle of midfield.

Think a lot of the lack of creative stuff last night came from how the squeezed the pitch.if they got it at the back it went long and they shifted up a good twenty yards.with both teams having 3 central midfielders that area was packed. They then swarmed on the second ball. If we did manage to advance into their third with the ball the opposite happened they dropped to the 18 yard line but so did their midfield and strikers dropped in to condense it again. Was just a tough game to be creative,we probably didn’t use the width enough but like you say turton not the most natural going forward. Also one thing we do lack up top for games where we need to really stretch teams behind is pace.Marshall can show a little bit but they smothered us first half when full of energy. We do need to be a bit more intricate though at times and often the final ball just isn’t quite there.

Their ‘lower league journeymen’ include Elliot Lee, who played for Luton against us in the championship play-off semis, as well as obviously McClean who has played at the top level.
They brought on Rathbone, signed for £1m from Rotherham who looked decent against us in the league above.
So not all lower league cloggers, plus their wage bill was £7.5m in the conference and will be much higher now.

My MOTM too. His passings never going to be great but his energy was and he was the player we had willing to get the ball, turn quickly and run at them, causing them all sorts of issues in the middle. Ita funny that because although mistakes could be levelled at Lonwijk they could also be levelled at Kasumu. He kept running too fast for the ball at times and would leave it behind him, or would run straight into players. His energy and tenacity though has been outstanding so far this season and it's no coincidence that results have improved since he became fit. And no Hogg?

A thought.
Watching last I thought the players that were already at the club pre Nagle and Cartwright were the ones up for the fight.
Pearson, lees, turton, kasumu, even ward when he came on.
Miller the exception, class player and an excellent signing.
Kane - poor Bojan - poor Wiles - poor Evans - poor again for a short cameo Healey - did okay but has had zero effect on so many games.
Sorensen out for 8 weeks - not fit to lace sorba’s boots and that’s saying something.
Cartwright - how is he still there ?
Why is multi billionaire owners still listening to him ?
That’s the worry for me. Why ?

Kane offered something different and his linkup play between Pearson, Brodie, Turton & the strikers was good in the second half. Bojan put his body about in a physical game. He was winning headers and retaining possession which more than we've seen of him recently, and acknowledged by the away support when he was subbed off. We're the first team to stop them winning at home this season and they are undefeated at home in a year or so. It wasn't just half the team that put a shift in, they all did. Probably deserved to nick it too.
