A fair chance that to just top everything off.... Is this the first time where Town have been the first League club to be knocked out of the FA Cup? Just to add another new low, just when you think things cannot get any worse.

they are only the first, because the Beeb sensed a upset, just another useless statistic, like the millions in cricket. I hope the Beeb mention the punch thrown by their No9 , knocking Maxwell back into the net.

We got beat by non league at the time Accrington Stanley. I forget which round though. This was only our 2nd time being knocked out by non league opposition in now 14 games against them.

I hope the Beeb mention the punch thrown by their No9 , knocking Maxwell back into the net. Not sure it was as blatant as some are making out. He swings, but every situation like that in the box has those sort of challenges. I don’t think he had the speed of thought to just leave it, and I think that would have been difficult for anyone TBH. But it was poor goalkeeping, positional awareness was way off. It’s nothing new, this happens every time at comers and we knew this was coming. The keeper hasn’t got a leg to stand on for that mistake tonight. As an aside, the only time I’ve seen a sportsman react with amazing agility and reaction times, was Tiger Woods a few years back (the Masters I think), where he managed to pull out of his shot while he was actively on his down swing. Maxwell should have done better with this

So there are lots of Players throwing punches at Goalkeepers . you get 3 views of it here, the third one from behind the goal is the worst.

'Just to add another new low, just when you think things cannot get any worse' - give over we've had far more lows than this and things have been a lot worse. Unless you've only been watching since we got in the PL, in which case do some research on the clubs history.

It's actually the third time; the first time, in 1948, we were in the First Division when we lost to a non-league team. The reaction of the Town manager - 'quite satisfied with the result' and players - Peter Doherty is reported as saying they were the better team - is from a bygone age when money hadn't yet infected the game and supporters didn't demand the manager's head for overseeing the embarrassment of the defeat and for his post-match comments. www.coludata.co.uk/matchesplayed/1026/bob-allen/222

It may be a statistic but 'new low' is taking it a bit far. It rained very heavily when we lost 6 0 at Swindon one Tuesday night. We were 'live' on tv for the 7 at Barnsley. Some of us were here when we dropped from the top league to the bottom one in double quick time. The almost out of business period??? If, and its a big if, we win the next few league games, this will be pushed to the back of our minds. We always had more chance promotion or play offs than we had of winning the Fa Cup.. Lets see if there is a good reaction before seeing this as more than it is.?? Good season from here on, its a nothing result.?

The only thing - only thing - that matters now is we continue the recent decent form in the league and get in the Top 6 spots......starting at the weekend!

It’s weird since we lost to non league opposition I’ve been the subject to constant ridicule from friends and colleagues alike. Whether it’s because I’m a little older and remember what I’d class as lower “lows” then where we currently are then maybe I don’t think to much of losing to non league opposition. Ipswich we’re absolutely flying in the champ last season and lost to non league opposition it happens we are a league one outfit and lost to a team only two divisions below us. Yes the performance was awful and the club was rightly show up on the night by a team that wanted it more. Simple as that. I’m not a happy clapper by any means and am disgruntled by what’s happened over the last few seasons but what I will say is modern football is soulless and toxic. I don’t really enjoy it anymore. I love town and will follow them until I die but out side of HTAFC I couldn’t care less and that’s sad. Beating manure or losing to Tamworth I’ll be there as md wouldn’t swap that for the hollow expensive soulless existence of “supporting”.a top flight greedy league team.

Said before, far more bothered about a 5 game unbeaten run ending with that performance. The lack of confidence and lack of being a bigger club on a better run and simply bossing the game physically then tactically and skillfully, was incredibly disappointing. If there isnt a reaction then its more than a really bad result.

VAR would’ve had that for breakfast, but it happened so quickly and in a crowded box that you can’t blame the officials for missing it. We had to do better and deserved to get beaten.

Im not saying we will go on from it to have a good rest of the season, or it will be the catalyst for a disaster. If we have a good season and get promoted or the play offs, then Tamworth just gets forgotten. The planet im on is football, its about the next game, the next result. We got arseholed at home by Fulham and later were promoted etc.. I was dissappointed in the overall performance, but I was also annoyed about the second half against Bristol Rovers and we won. The game is to not be suicidal after a loss or believe you are brilliant after a win. I like consistency more than ridiculous ups and downs and that probably extends to the supporters. We are not great, we have obvious missing pieces but we are not crap in this division the table says so. I think we are as likely to do well as anyone else or fall away as much as anyone else. Tamworth didnt help, unless we get a positive reaction.

The team was a joke especially considering their professionals picking up thousands a week for doing sod all against guys who have to work for a living. I agree we need a positive reaction because if there isn't we are going to end up like Bradford or worse playing Tamworth in the same league.

Another 5 game unbeaten and its much less painful?? The run of bad league results was far more worrying than a crap performance in a cup game. I dont think we are outside the top 6 in this league if Duff can get those we have playing now and those to come back in to frame. Its not the last 2 seasons and I would say that January this season is the big test of exactly how much Nagle is prepared to go to get the club back to where we would like it to be. Oddly, Im not optimistic or pessimistic about this season. I know the limitations but i have seen the limitations of other clubs. I want us to win every game, or at least play as though we are trying to win every game. So does every other fan of every other club. Tamworth was one very poor loss. The cup itself does not matter, we were not going to win it, the income it 'may' have brought in is always down to the draw and it might have cost us money to get to the third round or further, the performance was bad. Had Iorpenda scored I think we win 1 0 and its ok because we are through? ? Its the same game, one long throw and a ball that does not hit their keeper. We are off to Crawley on Saturday, if we as fans can move on because we have to, then the players have to. I admit the feeling at games is quite odd at the moment, 2 years of crap and really bad defeats with often no graft or care shown will do that. Nothing to do but leave it with Duff till January.

Just to add another new low, just when you think things cannot get any worse. Can’t answer your question but we do hold another unwanted record that unfortunately will stand for all time - the first top division team to be knocked out by a non-league club. As far as I can tell it’s only happened a few times since. I believe that Burnley are the only ones to lose at home, something that we’ve never suffered in any division and I can’t find a home game where we even drew, which means we’ve won them all, of course. However we needed an injury-time winner to see off Gravesend & Northfleet (who?) under little Lou and two injury-time goals to beat Cambridge in a replay after a lacklustre draw away under Lee Clark (didn’t someone post recently that Lee’s team would have seen off non-leaguers easily?).

Because we know that we will be going into the next game with the same players with the same attributes. Fixating solely on the next game appears to be ignoring the bigger picture.
