Can't believe those two are listed that way around. I'd never heard of Clinton til I saw your ad on Fakebook, but I thought Nick Helm was well famous. If you ever got Natalie Cuomo or Matt Rife to appear (unlikely I know) I'd be there like a shot. I've voted the third one, mainly because I like discovering newer acts, but all three choices have their merits. Conversely, I’ve never heard of Nick Helm and seen Clinton twice. Is he related to John Helm?

Hi all Following on from yesterday's announcement I have been in contact about the club about possibly running regular comedy nights at H Town under my Gag N Bone Man Comedy brand. I am meeting with them on Monday to discuss in more detail, so will be getting a nice sneak peek at the place. For me, the attraction of running comedy there is that I don't currently have a regular Huddersfield venue, and I bloody love Town so it makes sense. If I do run events there it will probably take one of three formats - all would have a host (MC) and professional opening and middle acts, and then: 1. A high profile well known TV name closing the show (the same format I run at Dewsbury Town Hall, where we have the likes of Clinton Baptiste, Alan Davies and Dylan Moran). These would be quarterly, priced at £20 a ticket, with a limited number priced at £15 for Town ST holders 2. A less well known act closing the show - they will be acts who have TV credits and regularly tour the UK - for example Justin Moorhouse, Nick Helm etc. These would be every other month, priced at £15 a ticket, with a limited number priced at £10 for Town ST holders 3. A line up of experienced pro level comedians you may have never heard of but who will most likely have TV credits and industry awards, for example Mick Ferry, Nina Gilligan, Hayley Ellis etc. These would be every other month, priced at £10 a ticket, with a limited number priced at £8 for Town ST holders Which, if any, would you be likely to come to? Good luck whatever you go for.

Comedy fans whist you are waiting for the night at H Town to be sorted, there's an excellent regular comedy night at Holmbridge Village Hall. £15 entry with a cheap bar. Had some great acts on there. Watched Troy Hawke there about 18 months ago. Search Comedy Club Holmbridge on Facebook.

I head-lined the Lawrence Batley comedy night a couple of times in the early 90's under the name Rory Motion. I had a 35 year comedy career in the third-tier solid pro bracket... think Tom Lees without the glamour... and Huddersfield Town F.C. was an essential part of the act. I retired a couple of years ago, (when the government started giving me 200 quid a week just for breathing) and the further I get away from doing stand-up the more I realise just how incredibly stressful the whole business was. I remember gigging in Glasgow and one of the 10 minute try-outs was a 16 year old Kevin Bridges and because he was performing to his fellow weegies his accent was almost indecipherable.... but I remember the line, 'They say comedy's the hardest job in the world.... it is if you're nae fuckin' funny!'

Searched YouTube and now sad I never caught your act (your Bob Dylan impersonation was more palatable than the real thing, live).

None of the above - 44.32% at present. I'm interested to know what they want to happen at H Town on non-match days. Because if it is utilised on match days only, it will basically be money down the drain.

People need to use their imaginations to get the ball rolling!! how about joining a quiz league or an evening learning how to do cake decorating or pickling.

I voted none of the above because I wouldn't attend any of them, that doesn't mean I don't want it to succeed because obviously I hope it does both for the club and gag_n_bone_man but it's just not my thing. Presumably 40 odd % of people feel the same.

Alun Cochrane. Gigged with hima few times. I find him very funny, he's a clever joke writer and also very good at a misanthropic rant, which is why I'm surprised Slapps doesn't like him.

Very very dry. Not to everyone's tastes but whenever I've seen him on Mock The Week and other stuff he's made me (not literally) piss myself.

Probably because its shite ? - (personal opinion I hasten to add) On poetry I'd agree (with John Cooper Clarke being the exception) but classical music? You should try it mate; some classical music nights are amazing, it all depends which composer they're concentrating on. Some of Beethoven, Handel and Mozart's music is heavy AF, you just have to ignore some of the looks of disdain from any of the "poshos" in the audience if you turn up in mosher gear rather than suited and booted We also used to get the military bands coming round schools all the time and some of the stuff they played was brilliant, alongside contemporary tunes like film themes and they'd "classicalise" pop tunes too. If you get the chance get yourself to a Jeff Wayne** night somewhere; War Of The Worlds live is fkn amazing. ** I know that's a mix of classical and pop/rock but it's a gateway.

He was the Captain in Phoenix Nights, died shortly after the filming of it I believe. He was friends with my Grandfather and Uncle and the comedian at my Mum and Dads, aunty and uncles wedding. We have it recorded on VHS (remember them?) and I’ve watched them back and he was brilliant. My Grandfather asked him on both occasions not to do any rude jokes due to the amount of ladies there so Cedi opened his act with an oral sex joke, brought the place down in hysterics.
