Just have a look at last 18 months and where we are todate
18 month of stadium talks and slowly getting near Town able to run the stadium commercially now The H Town pre match area opening this week The steps forward in academy Maintenance of the stadium Dressing room overhaul Speakers / sound system upgraded New website Improved YouTube format New merchandise with US influence Fire displays pre match A light show Freezing of ticket prices
Removal of majority of the staff from directors down - reset Plenty of warm talk on positivity, prem league in 3 years, Netflix and various echo chambers of hype which has settled after 18 months of new chairman settling in
Fantasic interims of progress off the pitch
On the pitch / managers - On 4th permanent manager in 18 months A relegation Injuries / injury prone signings (budget limitations) Extend contracts on players that are getting older Transfer market performance mainly low budget, out of contract, unwanted or unproven players with sale of Rudoni to help fill a small hole Style of football is organised, structured but limited flair and excitement Inconsistency in results at the moment Overall value of the squad is low and transfer appeal for key players remains low
Do you think Kevin’s plan is to build infrastructure over the next 5 years to make the club have all the facilities and functionality A level of hope in trying to improve revenues via hospitality, stadium events, merchandise
The main ingredients on the pitch (the players) will remain as per our budget (low cost, budget, frees, unwanted, out of contract, untested) for many years ahead and may stay like this if the off pitch revenues don’t change ?
Player trading seems to no longer be a strategy at the club ?
Just wanted opinions on our current strategy

I feel like we've gone through alot of these points spread over different threads numerous times. At some point we're gunna have to trust the process and get behind them. I'm not disagreeing with anything as it's mostly factual.

Player trading seems to no longer be a strategy at the club ? Just wanted opinions on our current strategy Interesting and decent post, but the two bold things: First bit: What staff are you on about? We actually retained every member of behind-the-scenes staff upon relegation. Or do you mean the directors being replaced ie Ann Hough? Second bit: for the umpteenth time neither KN OR his DATM mouthpiece Justasmithers have EVER claimed Prem in 3 years, it was an irreverent hand grenade tossed by NW on his way out, along with "this squad is good enough for the playoffs", Neil's usual way of covering his own arse.** Agree that until our revenue streams are a bit healthier I don't think we'll be doing a Brum-style buying the league. KN has actually put plenty of money in. Do I think it's enough? No, results clearly suggest otherwise. But I'd rather build slowly than boom and bust. DH has said before that we weren't ready for the PL and the slide since backs that up - instead of setting us up, it actually helped fk the club up, although DH could have mitigated that (parachute payments, not investing on the playing side after relegation, etc), which has been debated to death obviously. Overall IMO KN is doing an okay job so far - on the pitch shit obviously, but I'd put that mostly down to Cartwright with the caveat that KN is to blame for him still being in post, much to all our disbelief. Off the pitch I think it's progressing nicely, just not as quickly as I'd hoped, although things do seem to be speeding up and coming together quicker than before. ** not exactly a dig, I absolutely love King Colin, but he has a way with words and actions.

I've always been a little bit sceptical as to why KN initially got involved in Town. Quite why an American who had probably never heard of Huddersfield wanted to but a club who generally loses money hand over fist still baffles to me this day.
I look at it and I think Nagle was probably sold a dream and he got involved as a business opportunity first. I think the timing was right for Hoyle and we'd not long been in the Play Off Final vs Forest with a squad that cost very little to put together. I think Nagle was told this would be easy to replicate and he saw an opportunity to get involved with the idea of being able to spend very little and replicate that season and get the Premier League and then benefit from the riches that brings. His earlier posts on Twitter suggested this was his thinking and he'd argue with anyone and everyone who told him it might not be as easy as that.
I do now think that over time he has come to have an affinity with Huddersfield Town, which is great, and has probably now realised that it will take a lot more than he imagined to get Town back to the Premier League, a feat now ever more difficult after relegation to League One.
I think his heart is in the right place, and he has clearly invested in the stadium and is looking to maximise its potential in terms of bringing in extra income while also adding value to the Club in terms of having the stadium as an asset. It will be interesting to see how the stadium situation ends and where it will sit within the structure of the club. This appears to be the main strategy as it stands while the football side seems to plod along. January will be a big indicator as to how ambitious he is in terms of the playing side of things, especially if we are pushing top 6 and he has said publicly he want automatic promotion. Will he back his words with actions? Time will tell.
I'm still very much 50/50 with him, and how he goes about things and still worry as to how this will all end, but hoping Kevin can find success during his time with HTFC.

Exactly my concerns with him and it's a very fair question to ask. To be fair to him he's laid the foundations so far off the field of building something special, he's listened to the fans on what they want and delivered. The biggest ask for every fan is that the football improves on the pitch and we get back to been a top 30 club. I'm judging mostly on what's happened off it so far, there's alot more learning and risk taking when it comes to what happens on the pitch. So far, I think he (or people around him especially) are under performing in that area. He can go on about how in depth reports are and read every single analysis under the sun but when you're signing Ladapo on a free after a summer window and claiming you've watched him all summer, something can't be right.

Like you I think he originally (naively) thought it would be easy to turn us round, maybe DH overplayed the situation, who knows. But I DO believe (hope?) he has bought into the club emotionally now.

But, saying that a successful and wealthy American businessman would deliberately choose to buy Huddersfield Town for nefarious reasons is well beyond satire. He would probably have had a better chance of making money by just going into the casino that the new major owner of Sacremento Republic own, and putting everything on Red (or Black 😉)

There’s absolutely no doubt that KN intends to move this club forward in my opinion. I’ve never seen so many positive off the field changes occurring in such a short time at this club before. Of course, he will realise I’m sure, that the club have fallen short so far, on the playing side. January represents the perfect opportunity to put right the failings of last summer with just one signing required in my view. An injury free, experienced, ready to go forward capable of making an immediate contribution to help get us out of this terrible league.

What’s the transfer policy / aims / long term goals ?
Who is the next player we could sell On for a decent fee ?
I can’t think of anyone we have signed since Cartwright took Over.

I was wondering if fans thought the future strategy was either:
Build up all the infrastructure, stadium events land around the stadium, academy, hospitality and merchandise over the years to try and create enough revenue to support the transfer / wage budget ?
(I’m thinking this is likely option above and would involve treading water in transfer market for a long time)
Or just do the off the field rebuild to a certain level ie not much further to go once in full ownership of the stadium and then plough more (than currently) into youth, players in a push to move up the leagues and move into player trading ?

The business (or lack thereof) we do in January will give us a clue but what we need, and I suggest have a right to expect, is a strategy document, if such a thing exists! Or are they following Wilkins Micawber?

It’s difficult because we’ve always had limited resources and money has gone into loans / signings nothing else and we struck gold with Wagner and nearly the same with Carlos.
So ownership of the stadium, infrastructure, academy etc isn’t something we’ve had before and unknown what it will lead to ie success on the pitch
Agree with an earlier post about not being ready for the Prem and it basically damaged us longer term
Maybe as a fan it’s hard to be satisfied with the off the field stuff when your bored watching league 1 football (due to the standard league is and our limited flare due to limitations in the playing squad)
Maybe as a fan your happy if off the field infrastructure is terrible as long as exciting on the field but ultimately as a club your not going anywhere in that situation

You do that by building infrastructure, I.e the stadium, brand, staff, culture etc etc. You don't need a document it's as plain as day what they are trying to do. They haven't got the operational element right. That's what they need to work on.

It’s not random, it’s a key position for duffs formation and if Miller gets injured (his injury record over the years isn’t cracking) then his back up is Headley. Like I said, in my opinion he is not good enough. We could play Spencer there but being right footed isn’t ideal. I don’t have an agenda lol.

I never thought {at my age} that I would ever see Town in the premier Lge. I was overjoyed when it happened, since that time under investment in the playing squad {not including the mercenaries} makes me think I will not see it again!

Not agreeing or disagreeing with any of this but want to make the point that transfer fees are not as significant anymore it seems. It is all about the wage budget.
Not sure about the quality of them, but I have never known Town have 6 ‘senior’ strikers. I’m sure we have had six strikers in a squad before but would expect 2-3 have been academy lads who have made the step up.
I’m sure the budget for the wages for the current crop of Bojan, Marshall, Koroma, Healey, Ward and Ladapo is right up there in this league. We may not have made marquee signings but I’ll bet our Kev is shelling out some right coin subsidising the wages of the current squad

But Headley is better than both Holmes Dennis and Jaden Brown yet they were our PL and Championship promotion back ups.

Like I said, in my opinion he is not good enough. We could play Spencer there but being right footed isn’t ideal. I don’t have an agenda lol. LB always seems to be where our back up isn't that good. But Headley is better than both Holmes Dennis and Jaden Brown yet they were our PL and Championship promotion back ups. No way is he better than THD. Jaden Brown was shite, I'll give you that 😁

We may not have made marquee signings but I’ll bet our Kev is shelling out some right coin subsidising the wages of the current squad Exactly. Seems we’ve gone for quantity over quality, which is just a baffling decision in a key position. Ladapo had all the hallmarks of being about as bad a signing as we’ve made since the play-off final.
