Great to hear about the plans, not sure about an amphitheatre but the other bits sound like good investments. Our commercial income and strategy has been poor since forever, looks like definitely a step in the right direction.

Piece Hall has the advantage of being in the Town Centre,200 yards from the bus station and multi-storey car park

You don't spend this amount of time, money & effort if you're not here for the long run. Or building a much more sellable asset...

Where is Bazaa Sheerman when you need him. Get that Ski lift built - direct from station to ground - less than 10 mins !

Overall result is a net positive for the club and the Town. Ultimately what will add most value to a sale price would be a successful team on the pitch that’s as high as possible in the leagues. There’s very few local fan/owners in football, everyone is in it out of wealthy boredom and desire to compete or in search of a profit, and I’m sure for many (including Nagle) it’s both.

I suspect if all this did come to fruition and was successful that would improve though. Same as how Halifax was a shit tip in my youth 20 years ago but post Piece Hall the whole area around has been dragged upwards and it's now half decent, certainly better than Huddersfield.

You don't spend this amount of time, money & effort if you're not here for the long run. Or building a much more sellable asset... That is true but if the development can be achieved it makes the club far more attractive for additional investment. The development of the stadium, and supporting businesses, drives revenue and profile. Both of these should benefit the running of the football team. I find it interesting how there is significant scepticism in Mr Nagle's involvement but the reality is we need to develop to enable the club to be chance to be more successful in the future. When Mr Nagle took the club on what did he actually agree to take over? A percentage of a stadium, low revenue, the HTAFC brand (largely only valuable to those closely invested ie us, the fans) and a failing championship squad. It wasn't immediately attractive as an opportunity. If, and it still is an if, Mr Nagle gives HTAFC significant assets that drives revenue that has to be a good thing overall. The trick is to be successful both on and off the pitch. Currently we are trying to recover from, what was probably an inevitable, relegation. Last season was very poor, but the situation inherited probably contributed significantly to this. This season has been a slow burn but Duff is showing himself to be a good appointment. Additionally recruitment, despite many reservations, is looking far more positive. With just less than half a season to go the team has a chance of returning to the Championship but to do so will need a lot of hard work (which I think we will get) and a bit of luck. Most will view the Nagle era through this lens, which is to be expected. Off the pitch if the plans are realised and this enables us to invest more into the team then that can't be a bad thing. As part of increasing revenues I think we all have to accept that ticket prices will have to increase too. I would note that the more investment and revenue the club generates elsewhere the more likely tickets will be kept at a reasonable level. The one thing that does encourage me is that Mr Nagle is presenting a plan. Given I have been critical of the club not having any credible plans in the past I welcome this. Of course the key thing is delivering against the plan but we now have something to further challenge Mr Nagle on (other than results on the pitch). Overall I would describe my mood as cautiously optimistic but there's a lot to do.

No I don't think it matters at all. But if I had to take a guess, Kevin is investing to sell/profit in a couple of years. My suspicion is that probably took a hit when we didn't go back to the PL (and actually went down instead), but I think the plan likely still stands. As it stands I can only see that benefitting the fans and the club. These additions and infrastructure plans sound fantastic.

I’d imagine he’s probably looking at getting some sort of consortium going eventually, meaning he can sell off percentages to get his investment money back and then own enough shares to make a profit if/when we get to the PL. These off-field investments should pay for themselves in a few years and will hold their value far better than investments in the squad.

I think this is a huge leap forward not just for the football club but theŕ town as a whole.
It's a very much win/win situation.
Good on you Mr Nagle

Been talk of regenerating the stadium area for 30 years. Believe it when I see it. In that 30 years we've seen the driving range close down, the gym close down, the ropewalk pub close down and nothing new built. Cinema will probably close when Kingsgate open theirs too.

With the caveat IF they increase the revenue streams. Which would obviously help increase player investment, unless KN doesn't put that increased revenue into the team - I'm hoping he does, but like you I won't hold my breath despite personally believing he will.

I see everything else as an irrelevance, and I don't expect anyone to agree. When he goes, for me he'll be judged as a success or a failure based on what the football team has done. If the football team has done nothing and there's some nice hotels and a theatre around the ground, it won't impress me. I'd rather the surroundings look exactly as they do now and us go up a couple of divisions than get to 2030 or 2035 and still be in the third tier but with some nice buildings around the place. Again, I expect no-one to agree, but to me, Huddersfield Town is the most important thing and the only thing I'm bothered about is the football.

The thing is, football is an expensive sport. We need income to bring in and retain quality players. Infrastructure and other income streams will facilitate that and hopefully success on the pitch. Us buying tickets and a shirt or a wouldn’t pay the support staff’s wages let alone the players. It all goes hand in hand.

You need bigger acts at the John Smith's than you do at The Piece Hall to fill it. A quick glance at the next few Piece Hall gigs throws up names such as; James, Gary Barlow, The Corrs, Pendulum, UB40 with Ali Campbell, Deftones and Dean Lewis. Can you see any of those acts selling out the John Smith's? The Piece Hall holds 6,000 people. The John Smith's holds 24,500 in the seats, plus however many 1000s on the pitch. they're two different venues attracting two different types of acts. Plus, the last few concerts have barely made any money as it is. I don't think people realise how difficult it is to get acts on, especially when Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool are pretty close and have better stadiums, arenas.

I just think, rather than an irrelevance, all these improvements and (hopefully) increased revenue can only help towards that aim. But as you say, first and foremost we need to get out of this shithole of a division.

Possibly Barlow, but you're right I can't see the JSS as being a Piece Hall competitor - completely different kind of venue.

I still go into town on a Friday night and not once have I ever felt threatened or even wary of what might happen. Wake up, there's knife crime and junkies everywhere.

I'm specifically talking about outside the ring road. Whether that be going to Magic Rock tap on a winter evening or going to the stadium on your tod to visit the 'amphitheatre'. I'm just saying that that part of the jopurney won't be brought up to speed anytime soon, which is why it's a different proposition to Halifax and the Piece Hall.

Does it matter? Overall result is a net positive for the club and the Town. Ultimately what will add most value to a sale price would be a successful team on the pitch that’s as high as possible in the leagues. There’s very few local fan/owners in football, everyone is in it out of wealthy boredom and desire to compete or in search of a profit, and I’m sure for many (including Nagle) it’s both. I'd prefer some promotions first and foremost. The rest is an irrelevance. Think we would all prefer a promotion first and that is the aim. However, if we are to compete in Champ, we absolutely have to massively increase our revenue, in order to be able to invest in playing side. Owning stadium will help, increasing ST prices will happen, HTown and new club shop add to it, but there needs to be this proposed facelift to everything in the background in order to give us a chance of getting back to PL.

Yes, defo, in the US outdoor ampitheatres with semi-perm covering are rife for those mid range bands that can shift 4-7000 tickets. That's probably where the vision is. Think of U2 at Red Rocks for the 'Under a blood red sky' film.
