That's only yur opinion thought Slaps, opinion was pretty divided on Clarks post match comments. Many including myself saw nothing wrong with it. You have an unhealthy habbit of thinking your opinion is the right one and the only one that matters For me it's only the official club website which should be carrying stories which tow the party line. The Examiner and Radio Leeds should be free to probe as they see fit. Freedom on the Press is a pretty fundamental cornerstone of our country. Sure the club should be presented in the best light, but controlling what can and can't be said smacks to me of a North Korean dictatorship.

Query for SMJ1
When our club sorry business nearly ceased to exist in the early part of the 21st century, did they pay the Examiner for all the publicity they gave to the fund raising efforts?
You're correct in that it's all about striking a balance.
Once again (IMHO) this tale suggests the club are unfortunately tipping the balance ever more towards being a business rather than a club which I for one find disappointing.

im disappointed the club feel the need to act like this -a football club is the centre of a community not just a money making enterprise, many older fans will only have the Examiner. I see Mr Lawn throwing his toys out of the pram at every MB criticism at Valley Parade, publishing made up attendances, kicking Radio Leeds out etc and think what a pr*k It seems we are going down the same road I wish The Examiner would have thought that way when we were campaigning as fightforanswers mate. They soon did a quick impression of a constipated turtle when Davy got in their ears.

What supporters also don't realize is that how HTAFC have been so undersold under the previous regime. IMO getting that ground back is what this is all about and putting HTAFC 1st instead of the deals that were struck to favour individuals and other companies who played "you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours" to divert finances in various directions.

Just got this from SJ (who's fine with me posting this here): We as a club are trying to become increasingly proffessional in our approachI'm not one for picking up on spelling or grammatical errors, but that's quite funny!!

That's my reading of it too...I wonder if that's why on Radio Leeds sports bulletin this morning (at least on the 8:35am one), there was something about Leeds, a total non-story about Bradford, and yet no Hudds Town coverage whatsoever, despite us having 3 players called away on U-21 Home International Duty, surely a story in the local news interest in relation to a 3rd division football club? I've noticed over the years that whilst the match day coverage has become ok, (aided and abetted I'd suggest by Radio Leeds losing the full match commentary of Leeds United) - the SPORTS NEWS coverage of Town on Radio Leeds is as good as non-existent. I'm not really bothered for what it's worth - I only listen to the Radio for any local traffic news in the morning, and don't read the Examiner, and I suspect Town sell more Examiners than the Examiner sells Town season tickets .

Agreed. The Examiner needs Town more than Town needs The Examiner. Davy had the examiner in his pocket.....but he needed them. It's a different animal now, the club is progressing on the field and as a business. Hopefully Town will remain more of a club than a business but undoubtedly the better a business it becomes the better the club and the team will become. :udders:

So, I know we all get a bit distracted on here but... back to the issue.
IS THE EXAMINER BANNED? If so, from what exactly?
What have the Examiner's journalists done wrong?
It's all a little ambiguous.
It may be worth remembering that the local newspaper has a duty to its readership to report balanced and fairly. If its local football team is doing something that deserves criticism (see Southampton and its banning of photgraphers) then it should be reported.
It's not supposed to be a swooning fanzine for the local professional football team and its staff.
That was part of the problem, let us not forget, with the Examiner's approach to the whole Davy and the club's shares situation.
That aside: Well done SMJ for coming on here.
But seriously, what are the facts?

I rarely buy the Examiner but as Hmm said for some (especially older) fans it's the only way to keep up with what's happening at the club as RL,YP,YEP would prefer us to crawl back under a stone so they can carry on their obsession with You-Know-Who.Also the national press dont give a flying one about us as we're not in the Greedy League,so to bracket the Examiner with them just seems a bit daft to me

The Wrongboy - not sure how to copy and paste
But the simple answer is the Examiner is NOT banned and we encourage balanced reporting - simple.
