Probably Henleys, Gio Goi, Lyle & Scott and G-Star.... Only really walk round Huddersfield on a match day these days, so might not see the bigger picture but it is a lot nicer and busier to Bradford ever is for example. That's a proper shit hole. Huddersfield to me has always been a bit of a "local" town. Has a lot of indipendant shops rather than the chain shops you get everywhere else. Something I like about the place. It might be dead during the week, I dont know i've not been for years, but it can't be any worse than anywhere else round here. henleys gio gio and g star : : : :

You did Correct - the amount of knock off kit out and about masquerading as some of the Stone Island stuff has definitely affected it's reputation in the past 5-10 years...

The flats may never be built - where the steps are on the Kilner bank footpath and then towards the a629, the banking is a Victorian rubbish tip which will be VERY expensive to make safe enough to build on.
I don't know if they've changed the plans but remember being baffled by them when first announced.

Like the whole of the 2012 Olympic site in Stratford.

Its different when its on a river banking as steep as it is further on meaning erosion is a more pressing matter than when flat.

I always thought that all the contaminated earth was piled up into a mound and that is at the back of the south stand.
Didn't it used to be a mustard gas factory or something like that?
It's not a bad idea but I do not think it is sustainable.
The town isn't big enough to have a town centre and then another large area of shops restaurants and clubs.
If they cannot attract shops to the town centre what makes them think that businesses will move to hd1? They should regenerate the centre of town instead.

I'm sure that I have heard that the mustard gas factory was from ww1 and the land was still contaminated. Could be way off the Mark though. Edit: a quick search found this. www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/25/a2918225.shtml. (not sure how to do links on my phone)

It probably means we, HTCC, won't get our shares back. It's blatantly obvious why Davy wants to hang on to them. Why have Kirklees Council (formerly led by Sir John Harman, now of KSDL) been dragging their feet for so long.

The South stand is built on a slag heap of contaminated land, hence the fact that there is no concourse underneath it like the other stands. I'm not sure about the nature of the contamination but I would be interested to hear if anyone knows that there was indeed a mustard gas factory there once? It could explain the stinkers served up : : . I can only ever recall it being a barren waste ground. The stadium development has certainly improved that area of our town as has the Kingsgate development at the bottom of town. I'm sure that HDOne will similarly do wonders for the areas along the river earmarked for further development.

Quite ironic seeing as there were a couple of thousand slaaaaaaaaaaaags in there for the Millwall game.
