I know the ins and outs of it all, must have read it a hundred times, but Forest and Arsenal were both playing at the same level so without caring what that level was called at the relevant times, in my eyes it is the Arsenal record that means something. The fact that we equalled a football league record is purely down to a name change (well, suppose a few undefeated gamea helped) so all though we have done very well in my mind, which people are entitled to disagree with, we still have eight games to go.
Up the Town.

Thats very tenuous is that. Ok the prem might not be officially in 'the football league', but its the top english division, just like the one Forest managed 42 unbeaten in.
anyway, it must be part of the football league or why do 3 teams leave get replaced by 3 teams from the football league 2nd tier every season?? If it was totally seperate that wouldn't happen. And why do all prem clubs play in 'The League Cup' ?
Anyway, the record is Arsenals at 49 as far as i can see. We're joint 2nd and still going.

The daft thing is though captain we get to 50 and Arsenal will still hold the record for the top flight,....................won't they? Ours will be devalued because they will say we got it in a lets say "inferior league." :udders:

Probably but as an argument it doesn't really work because we were playing with players from an inferior league, so if we manage to match or better 49 unbeaten then it's just as good an achievement/a better one given the relative standard of the leagues

Who was the ass hole commenting on Town on Look north, Commented on Towns unbeaten run and quote, 42 games unbeaten run if you don't count the play offs, we used to but now apparently we don't, what a cock, what is it with the press and the Yorkshire press at that, They are so anti or negative Town its unreal, any other club in the country or Yorkshire and the press would be doing cart wheels. Living far away from Huddersfield I get that all the time about the play off final but one sentence always stops them in their tracks; "It's an unbeaten League record.Name me a League game that has to have a winner and can go to extra time and penalties" As far as the Arsenal/Town achievement is concerned neither is a greater achievement than the other. It is just as difficult going 42 games unbeaten in the Premiership,League 1 or the West Riding Amateur Div 2.All teams are playing others at the same level.UTT. :udders:

Sadly, there's no getting away from the fact that, in the whole of that run, we lost the one game which really mattered....the P/O final. Hand on heart............wouldn't we all have settled for losing any one of those unbeaten league matches in return for winning against Posh? A shorter unbeaten run...............no record......but Championship status today?

If you strip all of the bollox away, had the lino flagged CMS offside, Pboro would not have had a free kick, Town would & should have had a free kick for offside! - UTT.

I've sent a snotty email to Look North and asked for an explanation, if I get a reply I'll post it on here. Can't believe he did it on a pre-recorded voiceover as well, what a bell end!

I guess so, and I'm not suggesting us going 49/50 unbeaten is better than them going 60-odd (especially since that probably involved two promotions) - just I'm assuming we'd be classed as having the longest unbeaten league run because we were part of the 92 premier/football league sides at the time?

Arsenal won the title during their unbeaten run. Who's to say we won't? We might. I don't care if it's the title, 2nd, or (God forbid) the playoffs. But to me for it to be comparable it needs to achieve something.

The Premier League and The Football League cannot be classed as the same competition because they abide by different rules (i.e. number of players on the bench). Comparing statistics of teams playing by different rules is wholly unfair.
