Rhodes Ward Higgs Roberts Robinson(Gobern when fit) Arismendi lets go for it. I've included gobern because i like him (must be the only one), he tends to sit back which would allow arismendi to push forward.

As a couple of previous posts mentioned Afobe it made me wonder where he'd got to as I hadn't heard of him for a while. A quick look on wiki suggests he's only very recently started playing again after being out for about 6 MONTHS injured. Feel sorry for the lad, looked a promising player with us. As for Diego well who knows, let him settle in for a few games before we make any rash judgements. I'm tempted to nip over to Chesterfield next Tues in case he gets a game.

Its interesting that SG has gone for an attacking midfielder when las week i thought Kay did an excellent job in that role and after all attacking midfielders did not cost us the two equalisers did they? Scoring goals is not a problem for us, so why oh why cant managers actually manage and fix things that are broken and not meddle with things that are ok!

None of us know nothing til he's actually played for us ,but we need him to be good from the off, its too late in the season to give him settling in time, other than an odd match , and all that.

Higgs is a second striker not a attacking midfielder. They are two different positions what are you basing that on? didnt play as a second striker vs celtic and had a blinder, looks exactly the player we need in the team. he's had fuck all chance : ![thumbsdown](//storage.proboards.com/2448479/images/BYoy8BiWvnb3TQDRAi3l.gif) :

Arismendi anyway sounds more like a central midfielder. Either way they are two different positions. Number 10 has no defence responsibility where as an attack mid still has to act more like a centre mid when you don't have the ball.

Personally I don't think 'number 10' is really a position, just another word for 'playmaker'. Out of the great, archetypal number 10s there have been strikers, second strikers, attacking midfielders, deeper-lying midfielders or even left/right-sided midfielders. Higgs would seem to be the 'second striker' type but as I've said before the Falkirk fans raved about his engine so I could see it being worth trying him even in a 4-4-2. He'd struggle to be worse than the other options (new lad excepted until we've seen something of him) who offer little either defensively or offensively.

Don't you just love some Town fans!! Questionning the merits of signing a Uraguayan international who has played Europa league this season above some bloke who has played for Falkirk and Rochdale!!!! A Uraguayan international who is so good he now plays for a 3rd division side in the same team as the some bloke from falkirk Yeah because he can't get a game with the same premiership team as Marshall.......widely acknowledged as one of the best players in our league this season! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

In commemoration of our new signing, it can now be revealed that Town have a complete team of "not good enough" midfielders. In no particular order here is the sick, lame, lazy, poor or plain useless XI;- Kay, Gudjonssen, Miller, Robinson, Atkinson, Gobern, Johnson, Crooks, Arfield, Tom Clarke & Higginbotham.

:appl: :appl: :appl: I love the way the official site classes him as an Emergency Loan as if we've only got one midfielder. Anthony Kay has started the last 3 games in midfield, if that doesn't represent an emergency situation I don't know what does ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Also unfair to include Crooks and Atkinson in that list too in my opinion - they've not had much of a chance to prove themselves considering we have enough 'first team' midfielders to fill a small aircraft carrier.

His decision making and final ball wasn't poor at all. He made our goal and his crossing was excellent throughout. He was hampered by his options out wide. Cads (right foot on left wing) and Arfield (never been a right midfielder) . Id love to see HIgg given a chance with RObbo wide left and Ward wide right. I'll agree with you on his crossing; that was good. However, we're advocating him playing centrally where his crossing is going to be irrelevant other than from set pieces (Ward and Roberts are both very good crosses of the ball for the level we are at too) I'm refering to the two or three occasions where his slowness of thought and poor final ball choice cost us the opportunity to have a clear shooting chance. But let's be honest, we are all judging the lad's potential on one full game - subsequently Clark didn't play him and Grayson hasn't seen fit to either - there must be a reason for this. I was encouraged by his performance, but not to the extent that I think he could change our season. I guess we'll only find out if he does enough in training to play himself into contention. Mate, I like the way you do business. Talking through your opinion and responding to what I said, rather than uttering some random insult and offering nothing to substantiate your view. So kudos for that!! Much of what you say is right, but would like to pick up on the one thing. against MK he was playing off Rhodes, yet he popped up everywhere. So crossing was a factor, and is relevant for future. The way he plays, he is busy, always looking for the ball, offering himself, holding it, drawing a defender then shifting it and moving again. He is a livewire and something he has been crying out for all season. We need to hold the ball in the final third, to make robbo and ward shooting and crossing a factor, and in order to get jordan chances. I was calling for Robbie Blake on loan as we have needed that type of player. Was pleased to be getting Higg was pleasing as he is a guy that can allow others to get on the ball. Id even play him on either wing ahead of cadz (impact player good off bench) or SA As for the slowness of thought, I see what you say (on a couple of occasions) but also think that was not helped out by the movement or lack of it around him. Again, GR and DW would be moving defenders and opening up options with movement. Instead Higg was hamstrung by Cadz (reluctant to go outside to byline on left foot) and SA (reluctant to take the ball at all) as his wide options.

On that note would love to hear a Stuart Hall commentary on a PL game swith all foreigners in the team...
