I think it's clear the strategy/plan has changed in recent months.
That's obviously Dean's perogotive, owning and bankrolling the club as he does.
If we go down then it's obviously a gamble that's failed - and we'll be in a similar position at the start of next season as to when he took over.
Not too palatable given all the money/time/effort he's invested in it.
As has been said countless times, I really couldn't see the logic of not signing anyone (Danns and Theo aside) from 1st January onwards. Surely even a few loans would have been worth a gamble, even if they didn't pay off? Being stuck with the likes of Arfield and Wallace in the first 11 really did show how weak and lacking in quality this squad is.
It's been clear for ages that we lack quality all over the pitch - a few decent signings would have galvanised us and (hopefully) got us a couple of wins in January that would really have seen us safe.
Add to that, the timing of when we sacked Grayson, and the approach to appointing a successor (with the infamous "long term vision" "pathways" "one club" "Huddersfield Town way" quotes) and we've made a right mess of things from 1/1/13 onwards - both on and off the pitch.
Having said all that, we might do the unexpected and stay up - which will vindicate all the decisions in this time.
Robins can then ship out the dross, get the squad fit and start building a team that can establish itself at this level.

I think it's fair to say i'm a tad disappointed with the playing squad performance wise. Wonder if the same question re investment is being asked on the Blackburn forum? Did we hound out the manager when he had us Top of the League? Have we been campaigning against the owner all season? Are we on our 5th manager of the campaign? Have we spent millions bringing in a striker that is the 3rd highest scorer in the championship despite being in a relegation place? Are senior execs at the club fighting publicly? I cant really see the parallels. Blackburn fans have contributed to their situation and deserve all they get as far as I am concerned. I think your point is that they invested and it hasn't helped, better parallel might be wednesday, posh, millwall, and barnsley who have all benefited from loan signings made before the dealine. Benefited or not, for all that investment none of them i believe are much safer from the drop than we are. PS......I think the term 're invested' gave a clue to what the point was i was talking about

Hoyle is not above criticism despite what some of the sychophants on here will have you believe. No one wants him to sell up to some shady Arab but this season has been a reet disaster, no doubt about that. A lot of mistakes have been made, the timing of the Rhodes sale, leaving Grayson in charge too long and the lack of reinvestment of the 8 million. Hopefully we'll stay up and he'll be a lot more wiser and prepared for the next campaign.

It almost feels like the club don't believe they belong in the championship so are just sitting quiet and waiting for the inevitable.
I really thought promotion would lead to more postivity from the board filtering throughout the club and town when in reality it's been a bit of a damp squib even when we were doing well at the start it wasn't backed up by bums on seats.
I noticed on Saturday on the score board they had a PowerPoint style presentation scrolling through the entire list of club partners for about 5 minutes when I wanted to know how long was left.
To be honest I think I am falling out of the love with football and the club and am tempted for the first time in 20 years to not bother renewing my season ticket.

(or even sychophants ) I'm not sycophantic to anybody thank you very much

I know what he means though, if they actually sent you summat, as a football fan you want, ie summat to do with the football side of the club rather than pointless adverts about shit I wouldn't buy or don't need.

With the stick that Dean's had this season, he might just walk away in the summer anyway...then we won't have any answers (or money!)...just think about that for a few minutes Has he though? There has been absolutely nothing on match days - I can remember choruses of 'sack the board' coming from the terraces from previous regimes, demonstrations outside the ground etc. As far as i'm aware he has had no stick at Q & A's he's attended. All he's had has been a few threads from people on forums like these questioning some of his decisions. I find it laughable that people think he'll walk away because of that. I'm sure he found it a lot harder amassing his personal fortune over the years than he has taking a bit of flak on an internet forum. And he didn't give up on that did he?

I don't give a monkey's about club partners or the tat sold in the club shop. I've said before I believe these partners are more about justifying the jobs of the commercial types who I strongly suspect are old mates of Sean Jarvis. Why does a struggling Championship club need an 'International Business Development Manager' or what ever the bloke's job title is? We aren't Man Ure, we never have been and never will be. This upcoming trip to China they keep going on about sums it up perfectly for me. A jolly up for Jarvis et al.

You'd give a monkeys about the club partners if they didn't exist.... their input helps to keep the football club afloat and makes us more viable. The Commercial team have been successful year on year and their hard work should be applauded not derided. Having said that 'Joe Public' don't necessarily need to know about it all - but each and every one of us has the option to ignore it/delete it//opt out of it.

Do you have inside knowledge on how much these revenue streams bring in after the labour costs acquiring them are taken into account? Or are you just guessing? It's difficult to opt out of the tedious partnership stuff on the twitter feed which is how I get most of my news from the club from. The balance is wrong for me. The commercial stuff goes on but I would rather be informed as to first team news only. If I wanted to read about the commercial side I'd browse the club site.

At least for emails that should be easy - there's plenty of technology that allows people to select WHICH topics they want to hear about. For Twitter I'm not sure - I only follow for matchday updates. But without having a separate account not sure how they could separate the content out.

For Twitter I'm not sure - I only follow for matchday updates. But without having a separate account not sure how they could separate the content out. A HTAFC Commercial account is the only option I could think of. But I doubt they'd take that step because one of the selling points to the prospective partners is to be included in other established communication methods, Twitter, email and so on. To offer these companies a place on a seperate account which would have far less followers, devalues the product. Which kind of makes me think it's more for the partners benefit rather than Town's. Until I can see the figures - which will never happen - I shall remain sceptical and critical. In terms of emails Sean, I've opted out of everything the club sends because I'm just not interested in the majority of it, which defeats the object of sending emails in the first place. And as we can see from this thread, I'm not the only one who is 'fatigued' with the bumph (sic) they disseminate.

I've had the same debate with Clibbens (about communication)...as far as I know Deano attends 2 Q&A sessions, one down the road from where he lives, and the other down the road from where he works...same places, same locals attending, same questions same answers....Okay, he did one at Watford...I may have missed others, but has he been to Holmfirth, Meltham, Marsden,Golcar, Denby Dale...if he's serious about keeping in touch, he needs to get out more. Clibbens told me quite clearly, Town DO communicate...Twitter, the Website...etc..But for me, unless they actually post the Q&As on the website, so everybody can see what's happening, or they publish something ...then it will never satisfy the desire for not only info, but for getting questions answered. Clibbens didn't like me criticising the club about communication...he got a bit tetchy and I felt I was being made to feel a nuisance.
2 way communication, using the Fans forum section of the Town website is the answer for me...It's not having a pop at the club...it's wanting to ask about stuff...I was asking also about the south stand, and Clibbens eventually told me that HDOne design has already planned for away fans access (via a tunnel)to their permanent end, the south stand...so that's a dead duck as far as Town fans ever getting in there. Who knew this, anybody ? I didn't..
Anyway, Clibbens had blocked me now on Twitter...lol

I've had a few discussions with him in the past on Twitter and while we didn't always agree, we conducted it in the correct manner. I've always had respect for him as he is willing to discuss matters on Twitter rather than ignore everyone and remain in his ivory tower. It's a good point re the Q&A. I live in Manchester making these sessions difficult to get to. The best coverage I've seen of one of these was by Bolton Terrier covering the Watford one. Far more informative then the drivel the club sometimes put out.

The twitter discussions from Clibbens/the club are usually of the nature where the club has decided something, people explain why they disagree, or whats wrong. Points of contention are ignored by the club, the club arbitarily decide the debate has finished at some point, with all points of contention/interest left hanging, and the initial approach or action theyd decided on prior to 'discussion' stands unswayed.
He's right, they DO communicate, just not effectively, otherwise people wouldnt be complaining about it. What I've found over the last few years is they (the club) seem to want to conduct things off the record or in some kind of divide and conquor type individualistic approach, and I've no idea why, given that we're all Town fans. Its as if theyre embarassed by what they have to say.

Just wanted to quickly answer a couple of commercial points on here Partners generate circa (top of my head stuff at this time of night) - circa 600k plus. V important considering the lack of commercial income from the stadium for the club on things like food and drink. I am keen to get it to 1m and an elite group of 100 partners. Every penny made goes back into the club All of my mates - I wish - I don't have that many! China - 4 businesses going out with us - all investing in the club - new venture - not sure what it will bring but if we don't try we won't know. Opportunity has presented itself this year Sorry if you don't like us promoting what we are doing commercially - it's crucial we generate income for the club. I and the commercial team are trying everything to make a difference to the club. I'd happily come across to Manchester and talk to you face to face about what we are trying to do. Alternatively my door is always open. I'll be honest - I am saddened by some of the comments.
I know that football is the most important thing and I hope we get that little bit of luck we deserve. It's going to be a bumpy ride but we need to unify behind the team and CLUB. Sean
