Is Hudlin injured? He doesn't seem to have played many out on loan at relegation-threatened Burton?

Hudlin's biggest mistake was coming off the bench and scoring against 'Boro, because that created an expectation that didn't previously exist.

One thing I have wondered with clubs with limited budgets is why bother wasting (albeit small) amounts of money on several players not good enough? Why not just pool the money to afford someone better - it's not like the squad was so small we would be unable to field 11 players.

One word: injuries I'd rather play a kid who we already have for free than squander money on somebody who won't make the grade. Either way they probably weren't ready. Might as well not waste money on somebody to not be ready.

I know Simpson and Hudlin are examples that can be used, but both were signed for their (albeit non-existent) potential, so not just injury fillers. And for every Simpson or Hudlin, there is a Thomas, Koroma and even Karlan Grant.

Might as well not waste money on somebody to not be ready. Also if we'd have done this this season, we would be down already. If we had just paid for a starting 11, then with the injuries that we've had half the under 16s would have had a cap by now!

Hopefully there should be some announcements and information regarding the re-opening of the Academy soon.
player trials are currently taking place across all age groups and it all needs to be done and dusted, with over 130 kids signed by early August.

Down to what age group. I've not heard anything about any trials.

Kieran Phillips gone on loan to Sacramento Republic 🤨. If he finally keeps fit, he'll have a field day at that level.

Might have a role if we go down

I went to the Golcar pre season game and he was the only one who played for Town that caught the eye. Looks very athletic, quick and strong. Could make it as an attacking full back I wouldn't be shocked if he's the only one offered a deal from that years intake - the results have been embarrassing and not remotely competitive. Remember the model was that at the start of the season they would learn patterns of play and by the end of the season they'd be implementing that Here's the results www.htafc.com/academy/Under-19-fixtures/We lost all games in April (and that's the academies of Grimsby, Harrogate, Donnie and Notts County) In March we played 6 times. Won one and lost four but look at those scorelines; 5-1 Bradford, Hartlepool 4-0, Lincoln 6-1 and Mansfield 9-0 You would probably get the same results picking a Huddersfield school eleven who never played together! Remember the aim is pro footballers and these lads can't even compete with the youth teams of Mansfield and Lincoln! I dread to think what we're paying all those Academy coaching staff but I'd love to benchmark our backteam resource versus Harrogate etc to see if they run a similar Academy coaching set up www.htafc.com/academy/academy-staff/
