Wasn't 4-4-2 either, it was clearly 4-3-3!! They should be playing 3-5-2. If we are going to implement a system then we need all players to be familiar with it.

No, they should be trained from an early age to be comfortably in a multitude of formations. Exactly, note we changed our system late on in the Bournemouth game. Mark robins has said that the players in the first team still need to learn more about the system we are playing. How are woods hunt Wallace ect going to fit straight into the team if they haven't played the system before. I agree that they need to be able to play different formations but surely the most important and the one they should be spending the most time on is the formation that the first team play.

I think its the ideas behind the formations that is the most important. For example keeping possession/playing from the back/playing through the thirds.Whichever variation of the formation is used those principles remain. Those skills are the ones that should be developed through the age groups in the academy and taught in an age appropriate manner.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the transfer deadline day, the U21s are in action today at Crewe Alexandra, hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season.
Bennett; Hopson, Burke, Wallace, Smith (c); Leonard, Gobern, Holmes, Ward; Carr, Lopez
Subs: Wilczynski, Wilkinson, Mullin, Crooks (ill)
Kick off... now!

Huddersfield Town ?@htafcdotcom 43' now #HTAFC 4-1 #CAFC - Daniel Carr brilliantly fires home his second of the game after Danny Ward's intelligent through pass!
Huddersfield Town ?@htafcdotcom 40' Now 3-1 to #htafc - Daniel Carr grabs his second of the U21 season with a low shot; Cristian does well again to get the assist
Huddersfield Town ?@htafcdotcom 25' 2-1 Town; superb finish from Lopez from the edge of the box; good play from Leonard to claim the assist
Huddersfield Town ?@htafcdotcom 19' 1-1; Crewe draw level and it wasn't great defending from #htafc as a Crewe striker has room to pick his spot from 12 yards

Still need to give him match practise. What would we do if Smithies ever got injured again?
