we'll let allinson go end of the season IMO and focus on wylczynski. bennett's contract will be up wont it? will be interesting to see if we bring in someone and send wylczynski out on loan or use him as number 2. would be good to get him out on loan this season.
smithies could also be next summer's sale

Would be great if he proves to be as good as Alex though, finally we might see something like a conveyor belt of young lads to the first time.

Got some good things to his game has Lloyd, but needs some game time on loan at a good level. It'd do wonders for his development as keepers need to play. Wilczynski is a different style of keeper, he's smaller but a more emphatic stopper so he stands out for his shot stopping skills. Whereas Lloyd is a presence and big strong type. Both need to play some games though, and keep up the improvement. Benno might even stay on for another 12 months yet to help out, who knows?

Just cant see Spencer making it here. He'll be 22 when he comes back, you'd have expected him to have featured a bit more here (what's he had, 1 sub appearance?). With us bringing the likes of Carr and other youngsters in its difficult to see him getting in/near the first XI

Parts of that article are shockingly written; it looks like it's been put through Google Translate.

When you look at someone like Norwood, who's not even a year older than him but already miles ahead in ability, and with Holmes and Sinnott coming through, i just cant see it. Still only a young lad but just didn't look Championship material

Just a notice for anyone wanting to attend the U21 fixture against Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow afternoon: The game will take place at the John Smith's Stadium, NOT at Canalside. Kick off 1pm Free entry with a season card; £4 adults, £2 concessions.

Decent enough on the ball but flat footed, slow and not very athletic for a FB, leading to balls in behind him causing him far too many problems - Which then leads to rash tackles in and around the box. Exact opposite of Carroll really, if you could merge the 2 we'd have a good player. FWIW I'd still have him in the side ahead of Carroll based on current ability, but they must feel that Carroll's potential is worth it.

Question to anyone that has watched the last couple of u21 games... how far off the first team would you say Lopez is? can see hes scoring but that doesn't always tell the full tale.

Having watched the game v Leeds on bank holiday Monday I'd say they were way off making the first team, however you can't judge them on 1 game

Carr and Lopez are striking up a really good partnership. Surely one of them will get a chance in the first team soon.

Went down today and thought Carr actually looked the better player out of the two. Lopez seems good in the air, has some nice footwork and based on his two goals has good positioning; but wouldn't have said he's up to the standard of our current strikers. However it's always hard to tell in U21 games. The quality of play around him isn't going to be as good so maybe he'd thrive with better service. But as for Carr, looks strong, fast, and a good couple of finishes. Would say he's got a lot of potential.

Aside from the Betis friendly today is the first opportunity I've had to watch some of the development lads. In response to whether Lopez is anywhere near a first team berth, I think, and this applies to the vast majority of the lads I saw play today, that they wouldn't be able to stand up to the physical rigours of The Championship. Lopez did okay and was in the right place for his goals but too many times he seemed too easily brushed off the ball. Carr was better, and a substitute appearance every now and then could be a real benefit, but perhaps a loan spell may be more beneficial for his progression, and it's not often I'm an advocate of sending out our more promising youngsters on loan. I was particularly eager to see Holmes for the first time and I had no idea just how tiny he really is. He had some nice drives with the ball at his feet, and seemed to want to make something happen whenever he got the ball, but the moment he tried to go around a player, his physique seemed to hamper him greatly. I'm hoping his stature won't impede his progress because I think he's a cracking little player, and I think patience is the key with him. I thought Crooks looked quite good, a lot of the passing went through him, and he's not afraid to try stuff, which is encouraging. On the topic of Dixon, I don't see what others do, evidently. He's being played in development games and rather than sulk and claim he's too good for them he's getting his head down and getting on with it. Played alright today I thought, wholehearted and put in a few decent balls and committed tackles. As did Southern.

I agree with nearly all that, having seen Holmes a few times now I would say a strong point of his is his strength and getting past players, although today perhaps it wasn't as apparent.

A dominant performance from Town.
Dixon wasn't strong enough against Betra, outmuscled for his goal, but for he rest of the game he looked fairly solid, and looked great going forward. Burke and Wallace played well at the back, and I'm particularly impressed by Smith, who played tidily and played some good balls forward. In the first half we passed it around well but our play in the final third was poor – we couldn't play balls into the right areas, and never weighted passes correctly, leaving our strikers a bit . Southern played well, and kept things ticking in the middle of the park, doing the basics and mopping up. Crooks and Holmes tried to run through the Wednesday players but couldn't always play the right ball, and Holmes and Hopson couldn't always take it around their big lads, but when we played patiently, we kept possession very well.
Cristian poached both of his goals well (I presumed him second was offside, but the linesman knows best!). I prefer Carr as an all-round striker – he looks stronger, gets himself about much better, looking to run into space, and also getting to balls well before the defender. In the second half, we looked to break them down better in the final third, and we took control of that. It was a relief to see the three quickfire second half goals go in because we really deserved something from the game.
Sheffield Wednesday didn't really pose much threat, if any at all. The only lad who looked like doing something, Charlie Dawes (no. 11), was taken off at half time! On one occasion, Allinson pulled off a quick Smithies-esque save from a powerful header, and palmed away a few other efforts.
All in all, a good all round performance against a poor side.
