Ok...so no, SJ didn't get back to me.no worries...my Grandson (3 yo) couldn't push a turnstile by himself so was carried through by his Dad, no problem at all...which maybe SJ knew would happen anyway. Anyway, he had a great time...albeit mostly looking out for terry the Terrier, and wants to go again.. Oh, we took him in the Kilner Bank...but away from the noisy section...and it was totally fine... Another fan in the offing.. Strange I tweeted you about 1 30 saying just chatted to ticket office said fiver in advance but 8 on the gate and make sure you say hello to the #townfamily I also tweeted you after the game saying not a bad debut for Alfie ;-) Apologies if I got my wires crossed ! Anyway good to have Alfie supporting us - that's the important thing! Oops, I'd left for the game just before that tweet arrived Sean..and for some reason your tweets don't get into my email inbox like the others..nevertheless it seems I owe you an apology...so, I apologise for the above comment and stand corrected. Eating humble pie today...

Surely this only elucidates the point that we need free wifi within the stadium to keep our fingers absolutely on the pulse of news, current affairs and social media.
Fact x importance = news.

My phone was again no more use than a paperweight on Saturday so wifi would probably be a good idea. Couldn't check teams/scores or anything. (I have an iphone on O2 if anyone was thinking that is the issue - I don't have a problem anywhere else, but can never use my phone at the JS Stadium).

Salmon doesn't like SJ much does he? jarvis just tweeted it is still 'work in progress'...maybe they released it too soon in a panic...or maybe, like a lot of things...they didn't have a meaningful 2 way dialogue with the fans.. Usual group of 'stop moaning' to anyone trying to point out a few flaws in the scheme... jarvis setting fan against fan again ? happy days...the guy is an idiot, imo... I'm not everyone's cup of tea!
Anyway Wifi is a stadium issue - would love it in and done some work with a company in Sheffield about getting it into our stadium (they have den Leeds Arena and MEN arena) - would cost quite a bit though.
Also attended a meeting in London with FL about them contributing
Lots of questions
Should Town pay for it? KSDL pay for it? giants pay for it - all 3? Spend money on other things etc etc etc etc
I'd love it in but can't always get what I want
Difficult to answer all points on this board.
Happy to chat about it at my session at Canalside!

Fair play to Sean for commenting on this, I was being slightly facetious remembering the debate from a few months ago and the needs of the common football fan. Gone are the old days of having a wazz at the back of the Eastern Terrace whilst queuing for a pie and Bovril. We are a much needier bunch these days. Wi-Fi? Real ale? Big screen? When did we become such a demanding bunch of miserable sods. When I was a lad I was happy to get home alive!

I have the same problem at most football grounds. Phone masts just aren't designed for 14k+ people in one place connected to them all at once. It's just network congestion. Surely everyone using wi fi would give similar problems?

£200k to install a system that tells folk the half time scores on their own phones seems a lot of dosh to me, especially when we've got a scoreboard and tv monitors already installed in the ground that can and are already giving that information out.
We could use that money to get Anton Robinson off the books.

Bring back the Mensa designed half time score board from Leeds Road. It would do some folk good to have a mental workout during the break.

I know you all value my opinions...so here I go.
wifi in the Stadium ? forget it, you're there to watch the game...at any time you can go and watch sky sports in the concourse and get the latest scores, if you're looking at your iphone you're not watching the game anyway... for heavens sake !
They show the latest scores across the big screen anyway don't they ?
The only thing (well not only really), is when the flipping scoreboard clock stops at 45 mins and 90 mins even though there is always added time, usually crucial added time too...why can't it run on so we can all see how many of the 5 minutes or so has gone..( I don't carry a watch)...
just a thought

The football league don't allow any club to show just how much time has gone in injury time, you could always look at the time at the other side of the scoreboard when the board goes up and just add the time added on to work out how long has gone

Agreed, I check Town twitter feed for the team sheet, generally about 45 minutes before I get to the ground, then my phones redundant.

The problem is whenver you want to know the scores and look over to the scoreboard some masisve shite advert is on it. I understand the need for advertising but can we not keep the scores and times on a single bar at the bottom on loop?

In the grand scheme of things, I can think of a better use of c£200k than Wi-Fi for the fans.
Yes it's a ball ache not being able to get a 3g signal but it won't kill yerif you can't get it for 2 hours on a Sat afternoon.

I think I've posted this before but it's pertinent for this thread. Having Wi-Fi in a stadium is possible. The Philadelphia Eagles are installing such a network this summer which can carry 45k simultaneous connections. Stadium wi-fiThe article does omit the cost of such a venture. Needless to say, I suspect it is prohibitive to Town to consider such an idea.

Thing is you could charge a small access fee to cover most of the cost. Id happily pay a quid a game subscription fee for decent wifi at the games..

When I'm wrong (which is rare) and since you keep quoting me, I'm pleased you have included my apology to SJ when we had crossed wires over the tweets on Saturday.. You may recall earlier posts about season card prices last season..which in some cases worked out more expensive than paying on the gate each week...I'd like to think SJ took my criticism on board with the 'interest free' offer this season, which no doubt many were pleased to take up and which now makes a SC good value for money. So I do have the odd success, although I don't brag about it...just quietly smile to myself and get on to the next item on my list..As for the loyalty scheme, i don't think I'm alone in thinking this was a half baked meaningless scheme rushed out without proper thought. My main beef though is continually being told by the players and the manager to 'make more noise' yet the club do absolutely nothing to canvass opinion on how they might engineer this outcome, indeed i was told the club were not entirely happy with the 'mainly drunken youths' who form the singing section...which happens to be the only part of our crowd who make any noise...Anne Hough is responsible for the match day 'experience', amongst other things, a very nice lady who I have met. Sadly though she has failed to respond to my request for feedback from our 2 hour meeting.. A lot of fans moan about this and that, but I try to do something about it rather than just leave it to somebody else. SJ is a very nice man too, they probably all are...but that doesn't exempt them from being asked to explain their actions, and often the lack of.
