..now before I start, don't get me wrong..I'm not and never was 'canvassing' for free tickets for todays game..but
I tweeted htafcdotcom about pricing for my Grandsons' first visit to a Town match, he's 3 and me and his Dad are taking him down, in his Town kit..I told them the Town website Family Stand section has only got last years prices on it still...I was tweeted back and kindly given a link to this years' prices, and it will cost us £10 to get him in. I then asked if there were cheaper 'buy in advance prices'..but got no answer from htafcdotcom. Anyway, I tweeted Sean Jarvis (Commercial Director) to ask him, and sent a pic of the young 'un, in his Town kit and said it's his first game and are there cheaper prices than £10 at all.
He said he would get back to me, and meanwhile re-tweeted the pick to his 3,700 followers...you know, Family Club and all that.
No problem.
Then while I've been waiting, over an hour now, Sean is tweeting pics of goodies for the corporate boxes, pics of the lounges, and todays sponsors lounge etc etc etc...the usual Commercial stuff, again no problem with that..
I'm not now expecting a reply though...he's forgotten, I reckon.
It doesn't really matter, it's only £10...but something just naggles in my mind that Town have missed a good opportunity here, you know what I mean...a freebie or a little gift to mark the occasion ? A new fan, maybe spend his entire life (like me) supporting Town...maybe not..
Like I say it doesn't change what we're doing today, but maybe tells us (as if we didn't already know) where the club has it's priorities, and for all the talk, Commercial will always be ahead of Families and new supporters it seems.
Am I being a fussy Grandad, wanting the lad's day to be extra special....or just a moaning minnie ? (rhetorical question that)..

Moaning Minnie.
You may well find, that you the turnstile operator won't charge you for the 3 year old. Thats my experience anyway.
Hope you all enjoy his 1st game, it'll be the best £10 you have ever spent (if you have to pay it).

if you had said the lad was under nourished etc, they might have sprung for a free breakfast...
my lad was a mascot away at Grimsby a long time ago.. town supplied nothing except the tickets for him and me.. Grimsby supplied a executive parking spot, ground tour, free photos(developed and posted to us) an autograph book , sports water bottle, sponsors sports bag and boot bag a meal after the game and a video of the match with him "starring in it"... for nothing.. very friendly club, grimbo...

I don't think you've done anything wrong at all; he shouldn't of said he'd get back to you, and then not.

How can you prove it's a child's first game? I agree with the sentiment but its unworkable as your likely to have 500 opportunists trying to blag a freebie every week.
Anyhow hope your young in enjoys their first time,

It is match day though too. In my experience all town officials on twitter do a great job when it comes to fan communication and I think he will get back to you just may take longer than you anticipate with it being the busiest day of the week for the club. Can't wait for my little girls first home game but she's only nearly two so it will be a prem game by then ;-)

I'm pretty sure the rules are that if it's your first game your dad lifts you over. If you don't fit he's left it too late. Hope he enjoyed himself.

The club can't do right for wrong for some people it seems. "Here's your boy's free replica shirt" - "No gift wrap?? Tight bastards"

This is a pathetic thread I have to say.
SJ as commercial director tweeting about offers for games to raise money for the club instead of responding to a begging tweet. Fucking scandal is that, he should concentrate all his time to give things out for free. Anyone would think the club are a business not a charity.....
BLOODY HELL GET A GRIP.
An under 8's season ticket costs next to nowt.
Sorry for sounding harsh but buy a ticket like the rest of us with kids and be thankful that its an absolute bargain compared with other clubs.
And as for someone dissing the club on what you get or don't get when your kids a mascot....... I'm fortunate enough for my son to have been a mascot twice and apart from we got or didn't get, it was an absolute honour for him and I feel very privileged and proud for him to have such a fantastic opportunity.
Some people really piss me off.....

Woolley: I think your account's been hacked. Someone is talking sense under your username. You might want to change your password from 'Terriers'.

By your own admission, the game was AT Grimsby. I'm not sure what more Town (HTFC) could have done on the day other than give you complimentary tickets. Sounds to me that you're having a moan at Town just for the hell of it. Get a life you miserable twat.

Ok...so no, SJ didn't get back to me.no worries...my Grandson (3 yo) couldn't push a turnstile by himself so was carried through by his Dad, no problem at all...which maybe SJ knew would happen anyway.
Anyway, he had a great time...albeit mostly looking out for terry the Terrier, and wants to go again..
Oh, we took him in the Kilner Bank...but away from the noisy section...and it was totally fine...
Another fan in the offing..

Never had the pleasure of going to a match with my dad and granddad. Both (granddads) were big Town fans and I knew all about the great teams of yesteryear. I hope your grandson gets some memories he'll treasure forever (if only to offset the inevitable misery).
