Didn't have to be a championship job. Fact is that nobody has shown an interest in him as manager period. That is no qualification to be the next gown manager, quite the contrary. What a dour, uninformed viewpoint. You've no idea of any other club showed interest or not. He's done more as a manager than Lillis. Who has had a staggering 26% win rate as a manager compared to Powells 41. I don't have a problem with Powell, but a bit unfair bringing Lillis into the argument. The guy bails us out of the shit at the times when the team is at a low and does a pretty decent job imo

No one has taken Powell but he has been available and he left his last club bottom of the league, fact. Shall we just look for someone with a better rate than 26%? Is that good enough for you? Brilliant criteria you have.

what does it matter what people think of Powell or any other manager and have their own view or argument as to why they dont want him. If we tempted Fergie to come back into management there would be folk who would not want him or moan about it. Hoyle did say he wanted a leader of men and to be honest I dont see Powell as that, so I would be a bit disappointed. Everytime we played Charlton in the championship with Powell in charge I saw it as an easy 3 points or 3 points we should have been taking.

Hmmm so all clubs notify you of all managers on their shortlist of potential managers do they. Given you're so certain that you know who other clubs wanted as their manager could you be so good as to tell us all who is on Hoyle's shortlist? How many clubs have beaten down Mark Lillis' door? Probably none so you definitely won't want him as manager will you? Oh.

Having noted the posts on this topic especially yorki1 cannot believe how stupid some contributers are ,comment on situations they have no facts or knowledge about , have no intelligent input into the managerial potential of any possible manager. Sometimes think these deluded people bellieve they are the only people for the job. All they do is knock and dismiss any rational and intelligent contribution. Get Real, spend your own money on a big name manager on big bucks ,or maybe just take yourselves to Elland Rd where the big names realy hang out.

Chris Powell is currently on a panel on BT sports 1 transfere special.cant see him doing media work if he was our new manager, surly he'd be doing work behind the scenes with Dean!!!!!!. Unfortunately the prick of a Peterborough chairman is on the panel as well.

Brilliant criteria you have. On drugs? You've replied to my initial post with a blank message and struggled to type coherently since and I'm on drugs? I'm apathetic? How is Lillis 'first best' then? You've mentioned league 2 Carlisle for what reason? You are quoting your own opinion as fact which is dangerous when you clearly know as little about football as you. The only thing you've got right is where he left them. With games in hand. Did they go down? Have they improved massively since he left? Where did he finish with them before that? Has he had tangible success in his career? What's your barometer for measuring managerial success if it isn't winning games? You've been asked who your choice would be and you've said Lillis. Everyone thinks you are talking out of your arse. Need I go on?

The guy bails us out of the shit at the times when the team is at a low and does a pretty decent job imo I agree. But.. He's a lot better with the academy it seems. Sentiment aside, I wouldn't want him as manager. I'm disappointed we've not appointed earlier if it is CP as I think with a bit of backing and a week or two of the window left we could have changed the squad a with a bit more direction from the new man. However, I'm sure if Lillis wasn't the blue and white sort, nobody would fancy him as manager. Powells had some recent success and has played and managed in the modern era. He's a far better choice than someone who hasn't IMO. I think he's a reasonable acquisition for a club of our stature in our position and will have some good contacts in the game due to his career so far. Whoever it is, they've got to come in and relatively work with what we've got. We may get 1 or 2 in the loan window, but he's got to coach this lot with the existing coaching setup, we think. Reckon that would have influenced the recruitment significantly. As a result there can't be many better than CP for the job who wouldn't have taken it already.

You think we should be in the market for a manager who has turned down Man Utd job? Can I have the number of your pharmacist? Read it again, you clearly aren't that bright. Get back to your Nintendo. I have read it again but you didn't answer the question of which jobs were available in the time he was unemployed which he may have been interested in? Man U was unrealistic, Leeds maybe but the demented Italian fella was clearly looking for a nobody who would do what he was told, what other jobs?

Chris Powell is now 10-1 on, on Skybet! Whilst bookies can be wrong, when the odds get that short, they rarely are, unless he's gonna fall at the last hurdle!

he just dropped pretty big hint on BT sports. What did he say? Presented said "chris we're getting lots of tweets from Huddersfield fans wanting you to take over, whats the latest" Powell "er what was the next questions" smirking and shuffling uncomfortably in his chair " obviously I wanna get back into it and hopefully that will be soon" - he had a big cheesy grin and was reclining smugly in his seat when he said that....body language suggested watch this space

If Chris Powell wants to be HTAFC manager then that will do for me, honest likeable guy and likely has something to prove too. If it's him, good luck to him.

The worst I've had is folk INSIDE WHSmith trying to sell mobile ozone contracts, but with one of those annoying spiels that goes on for 2 mins without actually telling me what it is theyre trying to get me interested in. Contract? For what? I came to look at magazines whilst waiting for daughter to finish in Claires Accessories.

Powell was a sound defender and an uncompromising character. I wish him success, especially if it's with Huddersfield.

I remember CP as being a good defender; nice bloke; a bit of a surprise choice (outside Charlton) for manager there; seemed to do a reasonably good job.
Genuine question, is or was he the sort of manager who tried to get his team playing the sort of passing football DH and the Board seem set on seeing as the Town "style"?
