The new manager had a say on Butterfield and Hudson signings. What a tease.

The new manager had a say on Butterfield and Hudson signings. If that is the case, we are not waiting for someone to accept the job. What is the delay?

People making out he only got 101 points cos he signed 20 players? I bet he paid less than Lee Clark did for each of 3 seasons that Clark did it and managed to get 20 points more than Town when both Charlton and Town went up and again finished alit higher in the table the season after. The fact he got 20 new players to gel so quickly is a big testament to the man. I wish ours would have gelled so quickly under Clark. In fact I wish they'd gelled, full stop. Working under a supportive board like Towns will suit him or any manager more than those foreign owners that took over Charlton.

I said last night it was Powell but the three candidates were all asked about Hudson and Powell was asked about Butterfield. Powell asked for more time to consider as he needs his families backing to re-locate...

Charlton wage bill that year was much higher than towns, they did gel quickly but signed some very good players, a lot of who are still plying their trade above league one. Point is whilst it was an achievement it doesn't prove his caliber as a manager especially when you factor in his club legend status and their terrible third season. Not convinced at all, yet another naive appointment imo. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Didn't charlton get rid of some of their better players without his say when the Belgian guy bought them?
I know that they sold Kermogant and no idea why they would have done so.
He did well at charlton and seemed to be able to motivate/get the best out of his players. Just what we need.

If Charltons wage bill was higher, it was probably because he inherited a lot of big earners from when they were in the championship. Their were circumstances behind his 3rd season, such as a very good cup run and the games in hand. It's unlikely they would have gone down if he'd stayed. I think he's the best of all the names mentioned who I believe we are capable of getting. I'd put him ahead of Mowbray, Coyle, Pressley and Lennon.

The new manager had a say on Butterfield and Hudson signings. What they had a committee meeting with all three potential managers having their say?

He has a teenage daughter who is at an important stage in her education.

Doesn't take a committee meeting to run a player past a potential manager does it.. Hey up Steve what do you think of Mark Hudson from Cardiff?

Are we suppose to all believe that after a fortnight he's only just sprung the idea onto the missus? If Powell is the man and he's not said "yes" yet then can we all please move on............

He has a teenage daughter who is at an important stage in her education. Would that not make it an even harder decision for Powell? If it means he has to re-locate and part of his family are at that stage?

The new manager had a say on Butterfield and Hudson signings. What they had a committee meeting with all three potential managers having their say? I find it impossible to believe that any of the new manager candidates were asked about Butterfield. He signed a couple of days after MR walked and those negotiations had been going on for at least a week before then.

Doesn't take a committee meeting to run a player past a potential manager does it.. Hey up Steve what do you think of Mark Hudson from Cardiff? But what if two of the potential managers wanted him and the other didn't? Or one wanted him and two didn't?

Remember lee clarks bingo machine. The one he used to pick the team? Well I think jt has taken inspiration for who he thinks will be next manager from one day to the next.

With respect, getting Charlton out of league 1 is nowhere near the task of getting Town to the Prem. I dont read too much into one successful season in Div 1. I want a manager with international contacts, a man who has done it at a higher level, not some guy who got the Charlton job because he was a club legend and had been PFA Chairman. I have a bad feeling about it.
