I'd expect Powell to say something like the last few dull, uninspiring, cheap managerial appointments have. If he is given the job, no doubt we'll be looking for another bland, proven to have failed at this level, incumbent within another 18 months... Yawn.... Surely it would work out cheaper in the long run to pay an exciting manager who would excite the fans rather than buying cheap and having to pay off the usual failures and dullards every year or so? Exciting managers only have an 18 month shelf life too. Even less if they prove to be any good.

Anyway. Let's have a list of things that the new manager will say in his first interview. "Can't wait to get started" There's a real buzz around the place

And would anyone more "exciting" come. This is a sensible appointment like the last two appointments. It seems the obvious choice. If we can progress just marginally on promotion and our highest position for 14 years that the last two managers have brought us, he will have done a good job, even if he is sacked in 18 months time.

It's great to see you're willing to give him a chance.. Get your head out of your arse & step into the real world FFS.. It's not football manager 2014 where you can type in what ever name you want! DH has a budget lower than most other championship clubs, so what makes you think we could attract a Di Matteo or a Zola or even a Lennon? We are small fry & the sooner you realise this, the sooner you can accept it & get over yourself, because most of your posts come across as negative, bordering delusional.. You obviously have real issues with everything HTAFC, so why do you even bother?

This paying off thing is a bit of a myth. Most manager's just have a 1 year pay-off clause put in their contract.
Obviously it's still a years worth of money you have to pay for someone even though they aren't employed by the club anymore.
Could have a 20 year contract or a 1 year, the compensation package will still be the same if the chairman wants it in there.

Andy Ritchie only got a 3 month payout and I think other managers we've sacked probably do, so the myth about not caring that they get sacked because they get a big pay off is bull shit. They're better off keeping their job.

Robins was on a 12 month rolling contract - so presume he gets 12 months wages?

Not often someone is sacked and the feedback from fans is like this I recall you making a similar video when Robins left.

I would imagine that there will be suitable clauses in place to mitigate such payouts.

He didn't resign - he mutually agreed - which I guess means also that they mutually agreed his pay off?

I dont think he resigned as such, seems he questioned his position and the minute he did that dean had to question his position. I'd imagine it was a mutual agreement and he'll have got some sort of pay off

Not often someone is sacked and the feedback from fans is like this I feel quite emotional watching that. I can see him ending back there one day. And they were playing us the night this was filmed... I used to think we played Oldham all the time but now it's Charlton.

If it's Powell I think the vast majority will accept it, but be uninspired by it. It's hardly an appointment to get excited by, is it??! For DH I will get behind him and pass my judgement at Xmas when the season is well underway...... Think thats about spot on. can't say id be particularly excited or disappointed and suspect most town fans would feel the same. Not an appointment to get emotional about either way really. Whoever gets the job must have said enough to convince DH and NC that they're the right man, so Im happy to go along with their judgement. The 3 managers they've appointed so far have all taken the club forwards to some degree or other, so IMO DH and NC deserve to have their judgement trusted. Well said.

I'd be happy with this, will make a change to have a defender in charge too, who will hopefully organise us far more solidly as a defensive unit. We shouldn't have to require to score 3 and 4 to win a game, hopefully a combination of Powell and Hudson will go someway to rectify this.
Most of the spoilt brat brigade won't be happy though, so I just hope for his sake that he gets off to a good start, or it's going to be even more painful than ever on here, if that is indeed possible!

For thosee moaning about Chris Powell, Mick Buxton was a complete nobody when he took over the reins at Town. He became a legend.

I think we all know it's Powell now don't we? Obviously just informed Talksport where he currently works that he's got a new job.

Don't think there have been any standout candidates (realistic ones anyway). If it is Powell we just have to get behind him and give him chance. It took us so long to get back to the championship, it's where we all want to be, a bit more positivity and vocal support for the team and manager won't harm our chances of staying up this year
