Drop him now, he's not our player. Goes back after Rovrum, Play two strikers FFs in a game we need to win, stop fukin about trying to defend away from home.

Wasnt a great performance by Holt yesterday, should have done much better with balls in form Bunn and Scannell. However it has to be said that he got bugger all support from Midfield (None of the 3 Centre Mids broke forward to support) Scannell didnt stray far from his wing either, at least Bunn got inside the box and helped out a bit.

Did anyone see when Holt broke clear in the second half. Not a single player busted their gut to support him. Felt like walking out at that point

And how many times was he miles off play!! Sorry but he ain't for me.If I as full contracted Town player as Wells, Vaughn and Lolley are then I'd be narked as he'll to be on the bench to accommodate a loan player going back to his own club in 8 days!!!

Had a magnificent game against Brentford two weeks ago, so saying he hasn't been good for weeks is simply not true.

Felt like walking out at that point I did and I cannot understand why are midfield are so reluctant to attack. We are lacking an adventurous attacking midfield player. I was very impressed with the guy from Brentford I think it was Prichard who showed how dangerous an attacking midfield player with the guts to have a go can be.

If its Holt's last game then at Rovrum start with Vaughan n Wells as this will be our starting line up from 3rd January onwards unless CP drafts in new blood.
Lolley deserves a start, i'd go 433 on Friday and put pressure on them as they will be pumped up after yesterdays result and from all accounts have played very well in many of their games being close affairs, whereas we find a performance just 1 per month and can go from good to awful with little explanation.

Holt can't win really - he's on a hiding to nothing. Loaned out from a club where he didn't want to be and as a professional footballer who has made it up from the real world, he busts a gut for us, because he loves playing football.
We don't know his personal circumstances or what is going through his mind. He's been sent out on detachment and probably likes it, but there is insecurity as he knows he will have to go back to a new manager, to a club whose chairman has lost a bit of passion for the game and a club which is in a relegation dog fight (with us I might add). There is no guarantee that he will make the first eleven.
Personal circumstances are paramount in most peoples' lives, wife/partner, family and friends. It will probably be quite hard playing away from home, even if they are multi-millionaires who all they have to do is keep fit and kick a bag of air up in the air for 90 minutes every Saturday afternoon.
I was surprised with Powell's team selection yesterday simply for the fact that he seems to be putting a hell of a lot of trust in a "temp", "supply footballer", call him what you will. I've just got a feeling that for good or for ill we may not have seen the last of Grant Holt in a Town shirt after the 28th Dec. Yesterdays selection of Holt was a bit of a statement from Chris Powell.

I think he set his stall out not to lose the game and but for a horrendous gaffe by our keeper (it looked worse on the telly than it did at the time) he'd have got what he set out for.

Did anyone see when Holt broke clear in the second half. Not a single player busted their gut to support him. Felt like walking out at that point I felt the same - Holt got onto the end of a decent ball but everyone knew he needed support to make something of a rare break for Town. Unfortunately no one made an effort to help him - summed up our poor performance really - lacklustre, with no conviction in attack at all.

Unfair to judge Holt when hes getting no support or anything as his style of play relies on players supporting and in essence he looks ordinary then .CP think tried to stop some sort of a rot after last weeks result although i am pretty much like everyone else on here play 2 up top and go after every team at home as think we can give everyone a game here.I do think we need recruits in January and i think CP knows what he needs and be interesting to see who goes out and who goes in as its our first window with him

He has had a toriid time from some referees who seem to think he is constantly looking for an edge. Has he one game left? Going to be v/interesting to see who comes in and who goes out come January. This will tell me what our clubs intentions really are.

He couldn't win it on his own. They tied our wingers up and our midfield stayed in the middle of the park. We were tactically out thought and didn't change formation/personnel until it was too late.
Not Holt that is to blame.

I tried making a point last night which no one picked up on. That why with only just over a week left on his loan are we playing Holt up front on his own?
I'm not saying don't use him but surely Wells should be up there with him and Vaughan as a back up option. The blame for yesterday lays at the mangers door.
Players looking terrified to go over the halway line at home. It's as bad as the sideways passing days of robins!
A massive push needed over the next 2 games to pick ourselves up.

Gone from hero to zero in my eyes, hasn't performed at all over the last few weeks and often looks like less of a footballer than Alan Lee did I think it's time to get Vaughan and Wells playing together as soon as possible. Since his first 4 or 5 initial appearances for the club, I don't think Holt has had as positive an impact on the team that we'd all hope for. 2 goals in nearly 15 appearances - a worse record than Jon Stead has for us this season. I think we can get better than Holt in January. I hope that is the option we are looking at anyway. I could see either Wallace or Gerrard going so we can get in another centre half. I also think we are crying out for a Majewski-type player when we utilise 3 in midfield. Why he isn't featuring I don't know. If he isn't going to get any game time then we must look at the possibility of sending him back to Forest so we can get somebody else in. We lack a link between midfield and the forward when we play with 3 in midfield. Butterfield is the closest we have but he is more of a box to box type midfielder with a bit of endeavor. We can afford to let go of one of our wide men to free up some funds if necessary. Ward and Hammill look less like featuring with each passing week and Lolley could go out on loan to get regular games. I'm yet to be won over by Powell but I guess we'll have to wait and see what he can do in the transfer window.

Great point Jimmy Nic! It just looked like nobody could be bothered supporting, running into space or taking responsibility to create openings. Lee Peltier nearly had a nosebleed when he passed the ball forward and the over cautious and under ambitious approach got us just what we deserved. What the hell Powell was doing with regard to substitutions is beyond me. With 30 minutes to go it was plain we were never going to score and it took five minutes of comparing notes chatting to the subs before they were introduced with 15 minutes to go. To be frank the whole of our defence is suspect and if Powell is not busy in January I fear another relegation battle will be the story of our season. Kenny 2 you are right that the blame for this one should be laid at Powells door.

I like Holt, generally brings alot to the team, apart from one key thing for a striker... Goals! Particularly when you're deployed as a loan striker!

Was good for us at the start of his loan spell. But now we are seeing a different player to the start of his loan spell. Lazy, dosent look intrested and most of the time is sat on the wing when he Is meant to be In the box? He has done nothing for a number of games now but yet we continue to play him when his loan spell is up soon, and we clearly arent signing him, and we leave our best and top goal scorer on the bench at home?
