Seeing as we've signed one of your old boys can anyone tell me the pros and cons of this lad?

Hello chaps, long time no see. Seeing as we've signed one of your old boys can anyone tell me the pros and cons of this lad? Good player. Better than Buxton. Good going forwards. Better defensively than some would have you believe. Would have him back. His debut vs Arsenal away will live long in the memory.

Best right back I've seen in my 30 years watching Town, but always been a problem area. Not great defensively but good going forward. Should be a good signing.

Like already said, great going forward but not brilliant defensively. However, that was two plus years ago.

I always liked Hunt and he added some pace when he first broke through into the first team. I think he is a solid signing for you lads and I would welcome him back to Town. It was a bit of a shame he sort of left under a cloud though.

Better than Jenkins and Mally brown? Laws? Decent solid championship player but wasted the last 2 yrs IMO.........only played as a loanee and really now needs a good season to re establish himself. If he is "at it" will do a good job for you but could get exposed defensively on your big pitch.

Decent defender, better going forward. Too good for the Wendy

We are all talking about the hunt of 3 year ago... Has he kicked on ? He hasn't impressed me particularly when playing at ours for other teams,,, I'm not sure he's that good.. Certainly not " best right back in 30 years"

Looked the best player on the pitch when Rotherham came to our place and beat us but he looked exactly the same player when he left us. Good going forward ok defensively and should get plenty of assists if he plays a lot.

If you have a decent striker he'll get loads of assists. One of the best crossers of a ball I can remember, particularly from deep. As as said above, much better defensively than some would have you believe.

With his pace and attacking flair surely the Jack Hunt would fit in better at the blades than Wednesday?

Agree with everybody else. Attacks with pace and will get a few pens when he gets in the box.

It's a shame he forced his move by downing tools.. No way back for him here because of the way he went about it.. Talk about biting the hand that fed & raised you!

Personally I wouldn't have him playing in my local pub team. Can't defend, shocking in the air, lacks concentration and once knocking it past a full back Nd running round him failed, was lost offensively. Final ball is usually poor and to top it all his attitude is shit.
I'm not a fan.

As as said above, much better defensively than some would have you believe. I thought he was worse defensively than most would have you believe. Too easily brushed aside for a good defensive full back. Can't argue with his ability going forward though.

I thought peltier in his first stint at the club was a better defender than jack hunt but hunt was better going forward, beat right back in 30 year though? Don't make me laugh!

Unfortunately for Jack Hunt, he had a bit of a double whammy:
1. A broken ankle before he'd kicked a ball for his new club. 2. His agent telling him how good he was which went a bit to his head.
A good Championship player, although not necessarily a great defender. I'll always remember in the FA Cup against Arsenal when he took the ball from his own penalty area and beat two players before being brought down when in on goal. And that was against Arsenal, not some run-of-the-mill Championship club.
He now needs to get his head back to where it should be and knuckle down. He's still got time to be a very good player.

Echo the sentiments on here. Can be very good going forward and capable of some belting crosses. Defensively he is massively inconsistent. Remember the 4-4 game at yours (Rhodes 4)? That would sum him up defensively. He got rinsed by Ben Marshall in the second half and was at fault (from memory) for a couple goals. One was just a cross-field long punt which he couldn't deal with in the air, the ball ended up with Marshall and he was too strong for Hunt. By the same token he was capable defensively of neutralising some top wingers. Bellamy and Zaha in our first season back at this level. But in the same season he was ripped to pieces by quite a few. Callum McManaman in the cup at our place was embarrassing and he was lucky to stay on the pitch. In our promotion season I also saw him get taken to pieces by Francois Zoko up at Carlisle which was even worse.
In his two loan spells he doesn't seem to have progressed much. On the pitch at Hillsborough there is a strong chance he will get caught too far up positionally. Could be an asset with a good, team playing winger in front of him. If not expect him to be targeted by cross field balls and be isolated against the better wingers.

He's a bellend. Saw him bottle a tackle just 15 yards away from me. Good player though if you allow him to be. Put the pressure on and he's soft as shite.

ego got the better of him here at town. the lads a good player no doubt but he has the capacity to have a truly awful game every now and again.

Wonder if he realised he was no good when he was playing for Barnsley and Rotherham!

Was one of the stand out players in our league 1 promotion season, but had an attitude problem from then on. I remember him sulking after we'd won away on burnley because he'd been on the bench.
Brilliant coming forward though, could be a good signing if he's got some good defensive backup.

Some far fetched stuff towards both ends of the spectrum here. Truth is he's decent enough for this level. If he'd never played for us before and we were bringing him in... most of us would be pleased.

I thought he feigned injury to get subbed off when he was being torn apart by Forest (not his fault, they just overloaded down that side and whoever was managing or defending that day just stood by and watched).

I haven't seen much of him since he left us to form an opinion of him at present, but I do recall him playing well against us for Rotherham last season and being very poor the year before when we smashed Barnsley. However, I rated him in his Town days as an attacking full back, but not so much as a defensive full back. I would imagine that if his injury troubles are behind him now and he settles in well at Wednesday you'll have recruited a very able player at this level. I can't really comment on his attitude or personality as I've never met the lad.
