Paul Ogden @pauloggy 42s43 seconds ago #htafc BUTTERFIELD UPDATE 1010hrs : as player heads for medical, my sources now suggest that fee is in fact "signficantly higher" than £4m.

If he has gone for 5 million then even I can see the sense in that. I just hope it is reinvested wisely.

If 5 mil is the fee, I wouldn't be surprised at all if DH has tailored this deal to include a couple mil more when and if Derby reach the promised land. This season the premium prices of player fees within the championship is bewildering. When a side such as Bristol City albeit with a huge backer can seemly pull a 9 mil bid out of thin air for Gray, a player who imo is worth nowhere near that figure I'm sure Deano will have taken note.

Can't argue with the money, but I'm still gutted. Bloody real player was butterfield. 3 signings needed none of which need be a defensive minded central midfielder. We have enough of them now.

This just shows how mad this game is. We're selling him for roughly ten times what we paid for him 12 months ago. Shit or bust for Derby now really - they must be gambling on doing it this time. There is also £5 million worth of pressure on Butterfield to perform. Where will Derby be this time next year if they haven't made the promised land? I wonder what the Derby fans think of this?

How much did we sign JB for last season? Hoyle said at the Powell unveiling q&a last year that butterfield cost £300k. But think that may of been discounted due to the clayton departure but still a brilliant bit of business

Time for Webber to justify his wage and pull a couple or four rabbits out of the hat.

Do Boro get a slice of the money? I wonder what they're thinking now? This must mean that for some that were posting on here this time last year regarding Butterfield being a poor-mans Clayton, that Clayton must be worth at least £8 million!

That little drop of the shoulder he does to send opposing midfielders / defenders the wrong way is worth £5mm by itself. He is a perfect player for Derby.

Can i just make a point that Smithies for nearly 2 million and Butters for now rumored to be 5 million equates to 7 million with the running costs for the season alleged to be 5 million prob alot less now Smithies wages are off the bill and prob those of JV aswell by the end of today, So DH has more than covered the running costs of the club this season with the transfers so far, If and it's a big if people are asking for him to spend in Jan etc he currently has a 2 million chest to spend further more we shouldn't read comments on here saying DH is supporting the club out of his own pocket blah blah blah because he cert won't be supporting the club financially this year.

That's a bit of an imponderable one ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I had to have a laugh. I had a sneaky look on the Derby Butterfield thread and they were really excited that Butterfield could take corners with either foot.

Its not as clean as that though Leaving players will be due some compensation if they have not asked for a move We will also have to pay signing on fees and agent fees for new players (great isn't it!) So the £2m won't be that after "costs" and there won't be £2m simply for transfer fees As for reinvestment, lets wait until the end of the day before making a judgement
